Last year we started the ULTIMATE DISCOGRAPHY RATE for our legendary icon. The results have been a long time coming, partly down to me being lazy, but also I was kinda disappointed about the lack of interest there seemed to be. But nvm, we're HERE NOW. WE HAVE RESULTS.

Shall we kick start this? First result coming at some point today, hope we get some hype (even if you didn't rate, I hope you can follow us and come along for the ride biggrin.gif) Thank you to everyone who did take the time to rate wub.gif

Any predictions?
Winner, top 3/5?
Preference?

Here are the links to the 3 different parts of the rates:

This is exciting!! I’m so sad I didn’t see the rate though. Would have loved to do it!

161. OOH LA LA [Avg. 3.12]
162. CRAZY (KEVIN FEDERLINE FEAT. BRITNEY SPEARS) [Avg. 2.55]

Kicking us off in the bottom 2, we have OOH LA LA at #161. This shouldn't be too surprising I don't think? It's universally despised, which I think is a bit harsh. It's cute and serves it's purpose as a soundtrack single to a kids film really well. She looks great in the video too. But yeah, ultimately no big loss.

CRAZY which is a collaboration with K-Fed (vom) is rightfully bottom of the pack at #162. Such a non-event and although not "quite" as bad as you'd probably expect it to be, it just doesn't need to exist, so good riddance and BYE.

Hopefully you'll be able around to comment on the results still! wub.gif

Sad to see Ooh La La out so soon. It’s definitely not a masterpiece or one of her best but I like it for what it is. A fun, cheery, pop song.

Posted by: Jade 6th February 2021, 08:59 PM

So ready for this wub.gif

'Ooh La La' is pretty bad although I understand that I'm far from the target audience. This rate introduced me to 'Crazy' - wasn't as much of a mess as I was anticipating tbh but still nothing I will be going back to in a hurry :')

151. MMM PAPI [Avg. 5.18]
152. I'M SO CURIOUS [Avg. 5.11]
153. E-MAIL MY HEART [Avg. 5.07]
154. PRETTY GIRLS (FEAT. IGGY AZALEA) [Avg. 5.00]
155. PRIVATE SHOW [Avg. 4.87]
156. YOU GOT IT ALL [Avg. 4.84]
157. I WILL STILL LOVE YOU (FEAT. DON PHILLIPS) [Avg. 4.80]
158. IT SHOULD BE EASY (FEAT. WILL.I.AM) [Avg. 4.66]
159. MY BABY [Avg. 4.43]
160. CHILLIN' WITH YOU (FEAT. JAMIE-LYNN SPEARS) [Avg. 4.00]

Starting this section off is 'Circus' album track, MMM PAPI at #151. It's the 2nd lowest track from that album which kinda surprises me, I always thought it was more popular. I have no feelings on it. Sometimes I bop, sometimes it annoys and irritates me. Up next it's I'M SO CURIOUS which is a fun, bubblegum pop track taken from her record-breaking debut album. It's a fun and cute little pop number. This is followed by E-MAIL MY HEART which has seemingly gone on to be a little bit of a cult classic amongst the fanbase lmao. This song is very corny, but it's cute! Gotta remember everyone can relate to it coz who wasn't e-mailing back then?? Relatable Queen.

At #154 isn't really a surprise as we lose PRETTY GIRLS which was a collaboration with Iggy Azalea and written by BJ faves.. LITTLE MIX. It's a fun song! I think it gets more hate than it deserves, but I'm not surprised at it's performance here. The video is fantastic and the VMA (?) performance is underrated. Next we have the first 'Glory' song to drop out, PRIVATE SHOW. One of my personal least favourites I think. Her voice grates on me in this song and I don't go back to it at all. I think I only listen to it if I listen to the album in full. At #156 we have a stunning song from the 'Oops..!' era YOU GOT IT ALL which is a bonus track from her record-breaking 2nd album.

I WILL STILL LOVE YOU is a song taken from her debut album and it's very of it's time. It's a duet with Don Phillips, who (iirc lmao) auditioned on US X Factor whilst Britney was there and caused dramaless drama as Britney found it hard to say no! Next it's Britney Jean representing IT SHOULD BE EASY the 3rd (and final thankfully) collaboration with will.I.am. It's a bit of a bop, but I feel BJ does that sound better throughout tbh. The polarising MY BABY manages to avoid bottom 3!!!!!! WE STAN! I really think as corny and cheesy as it is, this is sweet and lovely! Under appreciated I swear!!! Finally, another song I don't *quite* hate as much as others, but it's definitely not great is 'Britney Jean' song CHILLIN' WITH YOU. A duet with her sister, no less. It's a mess. Nice, but a mess.

Omg yesss BuzzJack getting... most of those out early :') almost all low points oops kink.gif I think I liked 'It Should Be Easy' at the time but it's aged pretty badly! Actually... that will.i.am collab out before THE BASS IS GETTING BIGGAH? Okay we got that ordering wrong x

Oooooh so excited cheer.gif There's no major casualties so far. I honestly have a soft spot for 'Pretty Girls', but regardless, I don't begrudge it being so low down.

I actually quite like I Will Still Love You and its full on 90s cheesy balladry glory!

Did My Baby get 4.12 rather than 3.12?

Ooh thanks for noticing! Nope, that was me forgetting to change it after copy and pasting from the previous post for a template aha. It scored 4.43!

If you're referring to the performance they recorded in Las Vegas to be shown in a televised awards, it was actually the BBMA.

150. I'LL NEVER STOP LOVING YOU [Avg. 5.23]

This batch at @150 we are starting with cutie I'LL NEVER STOP LOVING YOU, the ...Baby One More Time bonus track has appeared first time only on Asian edition of the album. Next @149 is one of few will.i.am collabs BIG FAT BASS which was promoted few times on national TV. @148 and @147 are two beautiful ballads DEAR DAIRY & HEART from Oops!... I Did It Again album, both are cheesy as hell but imo that's not a bad thing. @146 is WHAT'S GOING ON? a cover of various artist for the raise awarness of AIDS WW. WHAT YOU NEED is @145 funky track where she showed some brilliant vocals from Glory album. @144 comes ROCK BOY, bonus track from Circus album, next @143 is a sexy cover of I LOVE ROCK N' ROLL from Britney era and @142 and @141 are Britney Jean tracks HOLD ON TIGHT & TIK TIK BOOM and it's tragedy that they have made this high imo.

'Tik Tik Boom' is a bit of a bop blush.gif

Excuse me BuzzJack!! Tik Tik Boom deserved more than this. One of the better tracks on Britney Jean imo.

I have a soft spot for Big Fat Bass too cry.gif I get quite nostalgic for the basic bop 2011/12 era sound!

139. DON'T CRY [Avg. 5.95]
140. CHAOTIC [Avg. 5.83]

At the top end of this section is the 'Circus' bonus track ROCK ME IN. I'm actually quite surprised it's not a little higher tbh. I assumed it would be slightly more popular, but I guess not. It's a BOP! Infectiously catchy. Next at #132 we have SODA POP. A bubblegum pop track infused with slight reggaeton influences and serves as a cute little bop. Up next is a song I now hold dear to my heart BRIGHTEST MORNING STAR taken from 'Britney Jean'. It's a track I strongly associate with Tyler as I know it was one of his favourites from that album and the message of the song strongly resonates to him for me now. R.I.P Tyler! Missing you dearly heart.gif

At #134 is another 'Baby One More Time' album track, this time we lose THINKIN' ABOUT YOU. Another cute bop. Definitely one of the stronger "filler" on the album. #135 we see the 2nd 'Femme Fatale' track to fall. DON'T KEEP ME WAITING takes the 'Femme Fatale' dance-pop sound, but gives it a rockier and grittier edge. It's a bop. Next at #136 is the remixed version of Rihanna's smash hit S&M. The song that gave us "Flu-ney" :') Right after this at #137 is the excellent (and under appreciated, imo) Miley Cyrus collaboration SMS (BANGERZ). A collaboration that seemed to be a long time coming as Miley is a HUUUUUUGE Britney stan and I feel like it suited Miley's album well! I love it.

The final 3 songs of this section starts off with an 'Oops!... I Did It Again' bonus album track GIRL IN THE MIRROR, which is a ballad about heart break and self reflection. It's so cute. Up next is a 'Britney Jean' album track... DON'T CRY. In the top half of the album for me, I think. It's lovely! Finally we get to CHAOTIC a song taken from the EP of the same name, which was released to coincide with the release of hers & K-F*ds reality TV show of the same name. It's a banger tbh.

122. OUTRAGEOUS [Avg. 6.62 (Two 8.5's) ]
123. TROUBLE FOR ME [Avg. 6.62 (No 8.5's) ]

125. TOM'S DINER [GORGIO MORODER & BRITNEY SPEARS] [Avg. 6.54]
126. (I CAN'T GET NO) SATISFACTION [Avg. 6.53]
127. NOW THAT I FOUND YOU [Avg. 6.5 (Two 10's)]
128. BODY ACHE [Avg. 6.5 (One 10)]
129. FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY BROKEN HEART [Avg. 6.46]
130. HARD TO FORGET YA [Avg. 6.33]

We are starting this section with Walk On By b-side single of Stronger. I am kinda surprised to see it this high and above of the Tom's Diner, Outrageous etc which is next the canceled single from In The Zone era coz of Brit's knee injury. I do like this song, but this ranking says a lot... Next is electro funky Trouble For Me from Femme Fatale, I would rank this song somewhere in the middle of the record. Next is definitely one of the most unusual and special songs from first record a cover of Sonny/Cher The Beat Goes On. This is way to low imo. Next is another cover of Suzanne Vega Tom's Dinner from Gorgio Moroder's record. I love this re-make so bad that it was not pushed as a single :/. And we have another cover this time from The Rolling Stones (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction Brit has opened her legendary VMA 2000 performance with this track which has later translated into Oops!... I Did It Again performance. Next we have two Britney Jean tracks Now That i Found You and Body Ache, both highlights of the record especially Now That I Found You coz of such nice lyrics and sweet melody. Next to last spot is the forth single from ...Baby One More Time era. Beautiful ballad From The Bottom Of My Broken Heart which was actually only US single and last in this batch is a track from Glory Hard To Forget Ya, this one should have been higher imo. Such fun track.

Posted by: Jade 11th February 2021, 11:03 PM

'The Beat Goes On' is such a bop *.* it's an intentional rip-off of the All Seeing I version (they produced the Brit one too!) but a tune in any form.

'Brighest Morning Star' really makes me think of Tyler too, Jonjo. Lovely words. heart.gif

Posted by: Tafty 12th February 2021, 07:51 AM

'Walk On By' is amazing. I love it! So cute. 'Tom's Diner' is v underrated! Would've been a huge European smash if pushed I think & speaking of smashes with a push... as much as y'all keep doing it DIRTY (and, you really DO! pirate.gif ) 'Now That I Found You' was a ready made, sure-fire radio SMASH. WHAT A SONG. I'm genuinely surprised more people don't take to it?

Posted by: Jay❄ 14th February 2021, 08:07 AM

Ohhh Now That I Found You is a bit low! I really like it - that sound is dated now, but it's so uplifting. I think it, like most of the Britney Jean tracks, suffers from "is this even Britney's vocals?" and the album having such a bad reputation because of it. But a bop is a bop... x

119. SELFISH [Avg. 6.66]
120. LACE & LEATHER [Avg. 6.656]

As we head towards the top 100, we lose the final single from the 'Oops...!' album DON'T LET ME BE THE LAST TO KNOW at #111. A hreat break ballad that is often referred to as one of her weaker singles and many people think they wasted this single opportunity for one of the stronger tracks on OIDIA. At #112 is the smash single SCREAM & SHOUT. This became Britney's first UK #1 single since 'Everytime' in 2004... 9 years prior. I go through stages with this. Sometimes I don't like it, other times I will lose my shit to it. I never really go back to it though tbh. Up next is a track from her 3rd studio album, the lovely WHEN I FOUND YOU. As lovely as this song is, it's not really too exciting and it's in the bottom half of the album, for me.

Following on from that is BOMT bonus track AUTUMN GOODBYE. This is such a cute bop and would've easily found space on the standard version of her debut album. Just pure 90's fun pop bop joy! CLUMSY taken from her most recent studio album 'Glory', is next to fall out at #115. One of my least faves from the album... "Oops". It's fine, I just find it irritating more than I don't. Another track from 'Britney' falls out next, it's the magical and cute THAT'S WHERE YOU TAKE ME. A fave of mine when I was younger, I still vibe with it, just nowhere near as much now! Cute. BETTER, a 'Glory' bonus track is out next! Had this featured Justin Bieber at the time, I really think this could have been a hit for them both. It was very of the time and was perfect for radio back then! A bop.

Ladies & Gentlemen, MONA LISA is out next at #118. This was the song Britney rang a radio station up and got them to play, without letting her label know. I love this song so much. It's very dramatic and suits the theme of the song perfectly! Definitely recommend this to those who haven't heard it! SELFISH leaves us next. An album track from 'Femme Fatale' but a track I don't see too many care about tbh. It's catchy though. Finally at #120 is the 'Circus' track LACE & LEATHER. The pulsing bassline that we open with is dirrty deliciousness and it's catchy but it's never been a fave of mine.

109. JUST LIKE ME [Avg. 7.125 (1 x 09)]
110. EVERYBODY [Avg. 7.06]

Leaving us in this batch, just before we hit the top 100, we have 'Femme Fatale' album track (DROP DEAD) BEAUTIFUL at #101. The track features Sabi who delivers the now infamous "steaming like a pot full of vegetables" line... ICONIC. It's a bop! Losing to that song due to having no 11's is 'Britney Jean' cut, TIL IT'S GONE. I guess it's a bop, but it's not one of my faves from BJ tbh. At #103 is 'Glory' closing track COUPURE ÉLECTRIQUE, which is more or less the French meaning of "blackout", which sent fans into a frenzy when the tracklist was revealed! Nice closer.

PERFUME is eliminated next. The 2nd single taken from 'Britney Jean' and it really deserved more and deserved to be a huge hit. It's the first ballad Britney had released as a single since 'Everytime' in 2004 and it's really underrated, imo. Another ballad next and this time it's the mesmerizingly beautiful WHERE ARE YOU NOW. This song has ALWAYS been a huge favourite of mine from her 2nd album. I'm sad to see it doesn't seem to resonate with too many more people on here </3 It's stunning and one of her finest vocal moments. At #106 is 'Blackout' bonus track OUTTA THIS WORLD a bop, don't get me wrong, but definitely bonus track material for that album!

Up next we lose Gasoline which is one of my least favourites from 'Femme Fatale'. I thought it was slightly more popular than this tough, so I'm kinda surprised it isn't top 100... 'Britney Jean' track PASSENGER is up next. A song that is (apparently) part Brit and the rest Myah Marie... irregardless... I love it. One of my faves from that mess of an album lmao! 'Glory' track JUST LIKE ME is next and falls out at #109. I like the message and theme of this song a lot! I think the song could be a bit more interesting though. Finally at #110 is EVERYBODY which was the 2nd of two original bonus tracks from her critically acclaimed and fan favourite album 'Blackout'. The song samples Eurythmics classic 'Sweet Dreams Are Made of These' and although it bops, I'm glad it's just a bonus track. I prefer everything else on that flawless album tbh.

Highest Score: NickF1 & JosephStyles (09)

At #96 we see, in my personal opinion, Britney's worst song leave. BLUR is an album track taken from Britney's 6th studio album 'Circus'. It seems to go for that "morning after, getting over a hangover" vibe that she did with 'Early Mornin'' on 'In The Zone', except, it just ends up being a bland and dull affair. The production feels more interesting than it actually is to me. Tinashe sampled the track wonderfully on her song 'Can't Say No' though. She's such a stan!

#97 is (I'VE JUST BEGUN) HAVING MY FUN, which was one of 3 songs recorded for her 'My Prerogative: Greatest Hits' collection. This one didn't receive the single treatment though, but it's a BOP! I actually think it's pretty underrated. It's quirky and bouncy and fits in with that era nicely, I think. Catchy!

Now it's time for another ballad SOMEDAY (I WILL UNDERSTAND) which seemed to be a minor single in places but didn't really "hit" anywhere and was used to promote 'Britney & Kevin: Chaotic'. It's a travesty tbh. This song is STUNNING. One of the very best Britney ballads, imo. The video is gorgeous too, with her bump <3

Managing to get top 100 at #99 is the mid-tempo bop of life from her record breaking 2nd album 'Oops...! I Did It Again' is the track ONE KISS FROM YOU. This song is one of the songs that, whenever I listen to the song, I immediately taken on a huge, nostalgic trip. Love this song a lot! It's cute and fits the OIDIA album perfectly!

Just scraping the top 100 at that milestone position, we have 'In The Zone' album track BRAVE NEW GIRL. A fun and bouncy pop number. Probably the most 'Britney'-era track on ITZ. I really don't know why, but rather randomly this reminds me of Victoria Beckham's 'Not Such An Innocent Girl' LMAO. :') I really don't know why! But I can definitely envision a similar video concept with this too! Aha.

I can't believe 'Perfume' is out already, it's so good!

At #91 is one of my 11's! IF I'M DANCING is a song on the deluxe edition of her album 'Glory'. The production is stellar! It's infectious and it's ridiculously irresistible. The chorus is an ear-worm and really catchy. One of the most unique songs in recent times, imo. I don't think I've heard a song quite like it lol. I wish it was higher, but somehow I didn't expect it to get much further. The memes to this are fantastic too!

WHEN YOUR EYES SAY IT is next up at #92. The 'Oops...!' album track was heavily rumoured to be a single after 'Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know', but due to that under performing, it was scrapped! They should have released it in PLACE of DLMBTLTK tbh. Get major All Saints - Never Ever vibes from this. I was never a fan until we recently had our album listening party and tbh, it's absolutely gorgeous. I take back everything negative I said about this.

Time for another bonus track, this time from the 'Femme Fatale' album and it's one of Kylie Minogue's favourite tracks from the album... HE ABOUT TO LOSE ME. The production is absolutely stunning on this and I think this is the most "natural" Britney sounds on 'Femme Fatale'! It's lush. The middle-8 is one of her finest moments, imo. Lovely song.

Up next at #94 is one of 4 tracks taken from the Britney & Kevin: Chaotic EP. OVER TO YOU NOW was originally intended for 'In The Zone' iirc, and you can definitely tell with it's middle-Eastern pop vibes, but I can also see why it was left off. With a bit more sprucing up though, this would be killer!

At #95 we have LOVE ME DOWN. A song that I could definitely have seen being a big hit at the time, especially in Europe. The quirky, bouncy production feeds off of her attitude in her voice perfectly! It reminds me of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWX-Mw4dbCs which was expected to represent Poland at Eurovision, but was cruelly robbed by some blandfest! But anyway... a BANGER! Check out the Margaret song if you get a chance and liked 'Love Me Down'!

This section we start with one of two Femme Fatale album tracks @90 Seal It With a Kiss, the heavy influenced dubstep tune was always my first pick from the record. I'm glad to see it in top 100 coz it's such a bangin track!

Next @89 is another electro track Trouble which is bonus song from Circus album. The song is sampled/inspired by Madonna's Get Together and they did imo really great job!

@88 we have second Femme Fatale song in this batch Scary which has been only released as Japanese bonus track from the record. They just love to put amazing songs as bonus tracks.

Next @87 is moody Don't Hang Up from In The Zone album. This song is also bonus track from the record and it's only on UK, Australia and of course Japanese edition of the record. This song as Scary was co writed by Britney.

And last in this batch is @86 is one of two remaining tracks in this countdown from Britney Jean album. Alien is track number 1 on the album and as we can see loved by the fans. There was few years ago controversy around demo of this song and there is a glitch @2:14 just in case if u didn't know lol. Personally I found this track good but kinda dull.

They're all bops, but not faves! 'Don't Hang Up' is my fave I think. Maybe 'Scary'.

This section we start with no.85 Ooh Ooh Baby one of few Blackout songs which are out. The song sounds like latino rnb jam, top tune. Next is no.84 In The Zone's bonus track The Answer which was produced by P.Diddy and co writen by Britney. Next we have two Femme Fatale songs, there was a battle between fans which song should have be final single and Inside Out lost over Criminal on the poll. I love both songs, but i'm glad that Criminal got a chance! Fun fact is that Criminal is already few months biggest streamer on spotify out of all songs from that era! And last in the batch @81 is another In The Zone track, The Hook Up. Song full of good vibes and reggea sounds.

The 2 most overrated tracks from 'Femme Fatale' for me! Especially 'Inside Out'.

LOVE the other 3. 'The Hook Up' is catchy af. 'The Answer' is smooth and 'Ooh Ooh Baby' although not my favourite from 'Blackout' is still a great song! Infectious bop!

IF U SEEK AMY was the 'Circus' era's 3rd single. It's unashamedly brash and cheeky. It's really quite fun, but as it's been said several times by me, I think apart from the "hidden" and controversial message, I find the track quite basic, even if I do bop to it when it comes on. The video is fantastic though! So, SO good and quite underrated I think! At #77 is a track that's ALWAYS been a fave of mine from the 'Femme Fatale' album TRIP TO YOUR HEART. I love the production on this so much and that melody is gorgeous! It's quite "corny" in it's message, but idc. It's beautiful and I'm quite happy to see it top 100! The 'Blackout' track WHY SHOULD I BE SAD? leaves us at #78. The closest song we have to a ballad on the album, but even then, it's not really one. I'm surprised to see this higher than 'Ooh Ooh Baby' tbh. I thought it was always regarded as the weakest on the album (but still generally well liked so it's position here seems about right tbh).

Next up is the fantastic and infectious BOMBASTIC LOVE which was teased right at the start of the 'Overprotected' video! This is the one song that I always get stuck in my head, irregardless of what I've listened to after it lol. Taken from her most underrated era, imo. Top half of that album I think for me and now, finally onto a song that I place into the bottom half of the 'Britney' album and at number 80 we have... I'M NOT A GIRL, NOT YET A WOMAN. This was used to promote her movie 'Crossroads' and went on to be a big hit for Brit. I think people like power ballad-ney more than they realise tbh.

At #71 we have MOOD RING (BY DEMAND) which started off as a Japanese only bonus track but got a release last year after a campaign managed to get 'Glory' back to #1 on iTunes. I've never been too big on this. It's fine but it's a bit... boring, but it's well produced. The PRIDE Remix is better! Next is (I GOT THAT) BOOM BOOM, the first of two tracks from 'In The Zone' in this section. This is such an infectious bop. Not a fave from the album, but it's so good and it'll be sure to worm it's way into your head... then following that is the other 'In The Zone' album cut, EARLY MORNIN'. This track is left to give you the feeling of "the morning after" and in a hungover state. Idk why but I've never taken to this, but I think I jut find it quite dreary and monotonous, which I guess is kinda the feeling they were intending but it just doesn't do anything for me. Better than 'Blur' though...

We get festive next as we say goodbye to MY ONLY WISH (THIS YEAR). This insanely infectious, catchy and certified BOP of Christmas is right up there as one of my very favourite Christmas songs. It just brings me utter joy and I *think* it's kinda growing it's audience through the years. One day we will see this in the top 75!! So cute! Finally for this section we end with #75 and that is the single to launch her 2nd Singles Collection compilation, 3. This was a massive hit for Britney in the US. I think people forget about this, but it was another #1 for her over there and did well on airplay iirc. It's good. Just a bit basic for me and following IUSA... meh. Probably in about the right position imo.

Posted by: Jade 10th March 2021, 02:03 PM

Not too surprised about the position of 'Early Mornin' but I love it <3 I do agree that it is delivered in quite a nonchalant way but I think that's part of the charm for me laugh.gif poor 'I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman' also - one of my favourite Britney ballads!

Into the top 70 we go and kicking us off in this section is the lush INVITATION, which served as THE perfect album opener for her 9th studio album, 'Glory'. Absolutely mesmerizing, lush and stunning. Quite a gorgeous intro and sets the album up incredibly beautifully imo. Beautiful. DEEP IN MY HEART is up next at #67. The infectious, catchy and bouncy bubblegum pop banger! Would've served well as a single, but it's no loss that it wasn't one. Always been a highlight of that album for me! SO good. Next we have the unofficially credited Justin Timberlake collab. WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BE ME was the final track on the standard version of her 3rd album 'Britney'. It's a banger. Sorry. The most 00's song in it's sound imo. Amazing.

MANNEQUIN is up next. One of the most interesting songs from her 'Circus' album, imo. I just remember a lot of this hype being surrounded by that video of her rehearsal, which she absolutely SMASHED! A bop of a song. I like it more when I'm listening to the album and rarely pick it out to listen, but I bop every time. Finally for this section we have the 90's house infused, Euro dance sounding bonus track.... BANGER UP N' DOWN. I find this track to be quite hypnotic and entrancing in the chorus lol. A great song and the sound really works for her.

A bonus track from Britney's most acclaimed album 'Blackout' is the song to kick start this section. GET BACK, is the highest rated bonu track from the album and places at a very respectable #61. The deluxe version was never available to purchase over here in the UK, so that's a solid result overall for the track I think. Very catchy, due to it's rather repetitive nature I assume. But the production is great. KILL THE LIGHTS is next. A song from the 'Circus' album that I think had the contract mess of 'Radar' not happened, I think this would have been the planned 4th single! Very catchy and it's pretty radio friendly, so I think it would've done well as a single at the time. Even if I preferred the similar (but a lot shorter) 'Shattered Glass'! The next song to drop out is the 'Britney' track ANTICIPATING. The song that become a single only in France! It's a fun track and you can hear Janet influences in this, just maybe injected with a bit of the sweet bubblegum taste from her first two albums in it. Very 'All For You', even though they came out around the same time! Cute song and would've been a good 5th single tbh.

Up next at #64 is DO SOMETHIN', the 2nd and final single to be taken from her first Greatest Hits compilation 'Greatest Hits: My Prerogative'. Such a feisty, bold track that is full of sass, attitude and fierceness. One of her more underrated singles imo! SO catchy and the video is ridiculous fun! It went on to become another top 10 hit over here. Finally at #65 is the 'Glory' track MAN ON THE MOON. I often think it to be the sequel to 'Alien'. It's quite ethereal and dreamy and you just end up going on a journey through the track. Should it have been a single? I really don't know. Would have been an interesting one for sure!

At #56 we have OVERPROTECTED (DARKCHILD REMIX). This remix was launched with it's very own video (which is incredible, so if you haven't seen it, I'd HIGHLY recommend it!) As for the song... I don't really care for it. It drains everything I LOVE about the original out of it. It's just one monotonous beat over the song. Doesn't have much going for it at all, imo. PERFECT LOVER is the next to leave the countdown. Such a slick and smooth track! Her delivery of everything in this song is ASMR HEAVY! LMAO. It's a great song I think this is about right for it's placing tbh! The production though is killer! Up next is one of my absolute favourites from her 'Circus' album, OUT FROM UNDER. As I have said numerous times before, I really think Britney ballads are really quite special! I take to them almost INSTANTLY and this being her first proper ballad since 'Someday (I Will Understand)'... GOOSEBUMPS. Really would've been a gorgeous 3rd single after 'Circus' imo. She sounds great on this and I think this might be her most underrated ballad ever. Maybe after 'Perfume' actually.

Onto #59 and we have the 'Britney' track I RUN AWAY. I get a real, European, dreamy, airy vibe from this. The strings in the middle 8 are absolutely GORGEOUS! But the song is very one note and apart from that it's doesn't really get elevated much. I feel like this was the blueprint for the superior 'And Then We Kiss'. I like this a lot, but I just think it could have been a bit more and had a tad more oomf to it. Lastly we have LIAR. A bonus track on the deluxe version of her most recent album 'Glory'. Instantly became a favourite of mine. It has everything I want in a Britney song. A chorus. A hook. A melody. Great verses. Kick ass lyrics. A catchy middle 8... FLAWLESS. Just incredibly anthemic and one of my favourite MIDDLE FINGER IN THE AIR anthems. A SONG! Deserves higher, but IT IS WHAT IT IS I GUESSSSSS!!!

Just missing on a place in the top 50 we have a song taken from Britney's self-titled 3rd album, LET ME BE. This has always seemed fairly popular for this album and it's easy to see why. Catchy and melodic... my *only* criticism is that it feels quite one note. Once you've heard the first verse, bridge and chorus, you've kinda heard the whole song. I wish the middle-8 went a bit harder. At #52 is the 'In The Zone' track SHOWDOWN. This song is ridiculously catchy. I love how it progresses through the song and I love the guitar! One of the most interesting and unique tracks from the album, imo - especially from a production standpoint. Very happy to see it fairly high in this countdown. Up next is the single that was featured in every single era since 'Blackout' (OK it wasn't QUITE but lol at that becoming a meme)... RADAR was set to be a single (when it should have been) during the BO era, but the label decided it was best for Britney to finish the era and record new music instead. Due to contractual obligations (I think Brit's team signed a contract that said 'Radar' was going to be a single or something) 'Radar' was included as a "bonus track" on 'Circus', but was then made as the 4th single. Frustrating tbh. It should have been the 4th and final single from 'Blackout', but it's overuse has made people turn sour on it. It's good, but I definitely only like it MORE in the context of BO.

The album version of BOYS is up next at #54. Taken from her 3rd studio album, this song was tapped to be one of the official songs of the 'Austin Powers: Goldmember' soundtrack. For a LONG time this was always my least favourite Britney song. I just find it repetitive and boring! The Co-Ed Remix (still to come) is stronger. I've come to appreciate it more over time, but I'm still not into it. Finishing off the 51-55 section is a track from her debut album that sounded like it was tailor made to be a single. I WILL BE THERE is probably the most bubblegum pop song on her album, which says a lot for the time aha, but WHAT A CHORUS. So anthemic, catchy and it just immediately puts me in a good mood and I can't stop singing along and smiling to it! POP PERFECTION.

Maybe one of those that would have been a MASSIVE European hit as they focused on another song for the US market or something? Deserved to be a single, imo. Always been a big favourite of mine from one of her most underrated albums. I love the gradual build in each chorus to that banging Eurodance finale! A SMASH.

DON'T GO KNOCKIN' ON MY DOOR
[Avg. 8.07]

Highest Score: Nina West (10)

Up next at #49 is DON'T GO KNOCKIN' ON MY DOOR, an album track taken from her record breaking 2nd album. This is still very much the Britney pop we were all so used to at this point, but it had the late 90's/early 00's R&B spark to it. Something you could quite easily hear TLC or someone else do at the time, for example. I long for this sound SO MUCH. Makes me feel really nostalgic. Always been a fave of mine, but it "only" ranks about half way on the album for me... that's just a teastament to how strong the album is though!

FREAKSHOW
[Avg. 8.09]

Highest Score: Nina West& jAddy! (10)

The last song for this section is FREAKSHOW which is taken from Britney's most critically acclaimed album 'Blackout'. I enjoy this when I hear it, but I also find it ever so slightly annoying. A bop though. That wobbling bassline is KILLER! Would have been interesting to see how this would have performed had it been a single, but yeah. Not a fave of mine, but a solid bop! A lot of better tracks on the album have (quite rightly) placed higher!

BOYS (FEAT. PHARRELL WILLIAMS)
[Avg. 8.166 - 0 x 11]

Highest Score: NickF1 & jAddy! (10)

The single remix version of 'Britney' track BOYS is up next. Featuring superstar producer and member of N.E.R.D, Pharrell Williams, this version seems to give the kick that the song needs from the album version. This one just seems a lot more slick and doesn't feel as boring, imo. This is the version I usually go to when listening, but it's rare I listen to this song on my own time anyway. But I've definitely become more fond of this song over time.

I WANNA GO
[Avg. 8.166 - 1 x 11]

Highest Score: Jade (11)

At #46 we have the 3rd single taken from her 'Femme Fatale' album and her biggest US radio hit to date, I WANNA GO. This is very "of the time" but it's insanely catchy. It's easy to see why it's a single and why it was such a huge hit for her in the US. The video is so much fun and suits the song down to a tee! It's the perfect slice of carefree and joyous pop you need every once in a while tbh. I think I underrate this a lot. It's an instant mood lifter. Also, if you have not seen the I C O N I C performance of this at the Cocal Cola concert in Peru... PLEASE press play and watch. It's legendary at this point.

HOW I ROLL
[Avg. 8.166 - 2 x 11]

Highest Score: Tafty & blacksquare (11)

Finally and winning the tie by receiving 2 11's, we have another track taken from 'Femme Fatale' and this time it's should have been the 4th single, HOW I ROLL. This song has ALWAYS been an instant highlight for me. I just find it so dark and smooth and the verses are all really slick. Just so fun and dark. A mix that shouldn't work but it really does. So catchy! It's addictive. I love the bubble-pop sounds through the song. Love it. I think it would have worked as a single! The performance of this on the 'Femme Fatale' tour is so much fun.

Decided to spread out my 11s decently among eras and thought 'I Wanna Go' deserved one! It was a #1 in my chart and has held up pretty well *.*

Posted by: LondonN11 2nd April 2021, 12:04 AM

Loved reading through all this. Shame I never voted but hey ho. I’ve gotta say radar and I wanna go are two of my favourite Britney songs and for sure would have got 11s from me. I wanna go is such a bop - played it to death. Damn I miss new Britney music. I know we recently had a couple of bonus tracks from glory but it’s not the same.

Posted by: Jay❄ 3rd April 2021, 12:50 AM

I definitely wouldn't have expected to see How I Roll higher than I Wanna Go ohmy.gif Definitely a highlight album track. I Wanna Go is great fun and I'm not sure I'll ever be able to understand how it only made it to #111 in the UK. Boys is one of my least favourite singles... I liked it more at the time but as her discography has grown larger, I definitely consider it to be one of her least essential singles.

Don't Go Knockin' on My Door is a major Oops highlight wub.gif I love the production on Freakshow too. Blackout was so forward thinking!

PHONOGRAPHY
[Avg. 8.18]

Highest Score: NickF1 & Euphorique (11)

Up next we have a bonus track from her 6th studio album, 'Circus'. PHONOGRAPHY is one of those songs that, when it hits you, it hits you. The pulsating beat and the lush and sensual production really transforms this song into some other-worldly, hypnotic, sexy jam! One of the bonus tracks from this album that people wouldn't have mind seeing it become a single and a lot believe it should have made the standard album. The pre-chorus is lush! I love this so much and I very nearly gave it an 11. Great track!

LONELY
[Avg. 8.26]

Highest Score: NickF1, Tafty & Nina West (10)

LONELY is taken from her self titled 3rd album 'Britney'. Tipped by many as a "should have been a single" at the time. With it's punchy chrous, melodic middle 8 and slick verses 'Lonely' would have been a surefire smash, especially for radio at the time. I group this with 'Let Me Be' & 'Cinderella' as the songs that really show the sound of that era the best, imo. Great song and was always a highlight from the start, to me.

SHADOW
[Avg. 8.28]

Highest Score: NickF1, Tafty & Euphorique (10)

Rounding off this section (and completing the "should have been singles" trifecta) is the 'In The Zone' power ballad SHADOW. This absolutely storming, empowering power ballad always has and always will be one of the top 3 highlights from the ITZ album for me. As we may be aware, I love a good Balladney and this, 'Everytime' & 'Where Are You Now?' are the holy trinity, imo. Soaring chorus, gorgeous lyrics and fantastic vocals. It sends shivers down my spine every time. Just incredible and it really could and would have worked as a single I think (but then so could a lot of ITZ). I'm so confused why I didn't give it one of my 11's?!

JUST LUV ME
[Avg. 8.29]

Highest Score: NickF1 & Tafty (10)

JUST LUV ME is up next and is a track taken from Britney's most recent album, 'Glory'. Upon early reactions and reviews, many pinned this as a big highlight. The most naturally vulnerable Britney has sound on record in a long time. The production felt the most contemporary she had done in a while and I am pretty sure this would have been a big hit for her with a smoother run campaign. So lush and majestic! An absolute BEAUTY of a song and is top 15 of her discography for me. GORGEOUS.

SHATTERED GLASS
[Avg. 8.343]

Highest Score: NickF1, Tafty & jAddy! (10)

Into the top 40 we go and we start with the next song to drop from the 'Circus' album. This time it's the brilliant SHATTERED GLASS. Another song that I pegged as a single, but only if they made a radio edit and added on a middle-8/final chorus! The song is SO short but it slaps SO HARD. The bridge/chorus is glorious. I really, really wish there was more to the song as it's near perfect for me, otherwise. For me, it's the song 'Kill The Lights' tries to be!

CAN'T MAKE YOU LOVE ME
[Avg. 8.346]

Highest Score: NickF1, Nina West & Euphorique (10)

Last up in this section is an 'Oops...! I Did It Again' album track and it's the fierce CAN'T MAKE YOU LOVE ME. This really embraces and captures that late 90's/early 00's pop sound perfectly. Max at his finest! It packs that punch that really makes those upbeat pop numbers. One of many, MANY songs that should've been a single over 'Don't Let Me Be the Last To Know' and I guarantee radio would have eaten this UP! Can you imagine how FIRE the video would've been back then? A great song and I'm very pleased it made the top 40 here!

Posted by: London 11th April 2021, 10:02 AM

Love Jus Love me. That and Man on the moon were my favs from Glory. Shattered glass is also great. I’d forgotten how many tracks I loved from Circus. My favourite non-single track was unusual you. Nor sure if that’s gone out yet. Played it to death.

Up next is a track from her record breaking 2nd studio album 'Oops...! I Did It Again' and it's the massive WHAT U SEE (IS WHAT U GET). So happy to see this top 40. It's such a storming pop song. Definitely would've made a great single choice. The chorus blends the pure pop sound so beautifully with her attitude and fierceness with the delivery of it. A great song and worthy of being top 40 here!

Not only that, but it took SO LONG for me to find out that this was a cover tearsmile.gif tearsmile.gif It's perfect for her and she really puts her own mark on the song and completely OWNS it like it's her own song. One of the greatest ever cover songs, imo. Fantastic! So much attitude and punch packed into this.

[Avg. 8.625 - 2 x 11, 2 x 10 & 3 x 9/9.5]

Finishing this section is a track from 'Blackout'. It's the super sexy, super smooth and super sensual HEAVEN ON EARTH. This is pretty much the 3rd part of the threesome of 'Breathe On Me' and 'Touch of My Hand'. I'm very happy to see this finishing as high as it has done. She really excels at these types of songs. The production really sends you into a dream-like state of euphoria. Just stunning!

CHANGE YOUR MIND (NO SEAS CORTES)
[Avg. 8.625 - 2 x 11, 2 x 10 & 4 x 9/9.5]

Highest Score: NickF1 & jAddy! (11)

At #32 is CHANGE YOUR MIND (NO SEAS CORTES) which is taken from the 'Glory' album. It's a bop and I could definitely see this working as a single. Another one of Britney's classic deluxe album only tracks. 'Better', this, 'Liar' & 'If I'm Dancing' should have all made the standard album imo. An infectious bop that really plays to the strengths of it's Spanish influences. It really does pop off the most in the sun and the chorus is a real ear worm!

'Blackout' album track TOY SOLDIER is up next. One of the instant highlights from that album and it quickly became a big fan favourite, one that many believe should have been a single. It's easy to see why as it's infectious, catchy and makes you want to dance. It's quite surprising though that it isn't the highest rated album track on 'Blackout'! I definitely would have assumed it was this tbh, but 'Get Naked (I Got A Plan)' is worthy of taking that crown too!

DO YOU WANNA COME OVER?
[Avg. 8.75]

Highest Score: Nina West & Jade (11)

Starting off the top 30 is DO YOU WANNA COME OVER, which becomes the 2nd track from 'Glory' to appear in this section. This was the first instant grat taken from the album and was immediately considered "classic Britney" as it's the closest thing we've had to early Brit since the 'Circus' era. It's got a pulsating bassline and that chorus hits hard! Nice to see it top 30 here as I knew it was popular, but for me, I can still list off a handful of 'Glory' tracks which are better, imo. But a great song all the same!

LUCKY
[Avg. 8.76]

Highest Score: Tafty (11)

LUCKY is out next. The ultimate, nostalgic sweet spot hitting 2nd single from her record breaking sophomore album. The thing that really makes 'Lucky' stand out is that behind it's sugar sweet pop melody and hooks, it's a really dark and harrowing look at the lifestyle of someone really famous... this song seemed to foreshadow and form one too many parallels to Brit's own life as the most famous popstar on the planet just a couple of years later. Such a well made pop song. Disguising the troubles of fame behind something so appetising.

AMNESIA
[Avg. 8.81]

Highest Score: Tafty & Juan Carlos (11)

Up next is one of the infamous bonus tracks from Britney's 6th studio album, 'Circus'. AMNESIA is the Gaga penned, Fernando Garibay produced smash hit single that never was. Bearing in mind that Gaga was just about taking off at the point that Britney had released the 'Circus' album, it's a wonder why her team A- chose not to use this as a single at ALL, B- make it only available as a part of the DELUXE version and C- just not capitalise on this song despite the hype for it being at a obvious high. It became an instant fan favourite and people were literally CRYING for it to be released as a single. It's such a fantastic pop song! One of her absolute bests for sure.

ME AGAINST THE MUSIC (FEAT. MADONNA)
[Avg. 8.87]

Highest Score: Nina West & Jade (10)

At number 27 we have the collaboration ME AGAINST THE MUSIC with Madonna. This was the lead single from the highly acclaimed 'In The Zone' album. At the time many considered this as a disappointment considering it featured the 2 biggest female popstars at the time. Over time though, I really think it's aged magnificently. Full of hooks and a chorus that will get stuck in your head, with a really slick bridge that people often try to imitate. I can see why many were disappointed, but there is just something so magnetic that keeps pulling you in. Plus the video is absolutely INCREDIBLE. Such an iconic video!

Posted by: London 19th April 2021, 03:39 PM

Lucky heart.gif I loved this song so, so much. I think I watched the video about 3 trillion times. It’s the kind of song that my younger self died for and like you’ve mentioned, what a tragic foreshadowing of what was soon to come. This and the Everytime video always get me in their autobiographical nature.

I can take or leave Amnesia and Me Against The Music. The later always felt like a bit of a disappointing opportunity missed for the pairing of two of the biggest female solo artists. However, I will say that the choreography for this song years later in the Piece of Me show at Vegas did actually give me a better appreciation of this song.

Kick starting this batch we have PIECE OF ME which was the 2nd single from Britney's ground breaking 5th album 'Blackout'. The song is a huge f-You to the paparazzi as it deals with the pressures of being in the spotlight and having the press constantly hound you at every angle of your life. The song features backing vocals by popular Buzzjack starlet Robyn and it was an immediate highlight from the album for me from the first listen. Such a great song that oddly feels very under appreciated now.

Danja's vocal compliments the song wonderfully. Sultry, sexy and so smooth. I feel like this is the song that takes us closest to 'In The Zone'. Very surprised to see it as high as 25 here though! So deserving! Need more Britney + Danja SO bad.

TIL THE WORLD ENDS
[Avg. 9.04]

Highest Score: Nina West (11)

Finishing up this section is the anthemic 2nd single from 'Femme Fatale', TIL THE WORLD ENDS. With such an awful release strategy this song never reached the peak it deserved in the UK. It peaked at a rather underwhelming #21, but it stuck around for a few weeks and thanks to it's constant use as a soundbed to various TV spots, it's become one of her signature hits. The song was a massive hit everywhere and managed to reach top 3 in the US. I'd actually recommend listening to the remix version featuring Nicki Minaj & Kesha. It's iconic and SO much fun. Highest Score: ...ready for it, Jay*, NickF1, Tafty, Nina West, jAddy! & Juan Carlos (10)

In the last batch before we finally get to the top 20, we kick it off with the lead single from Britney's 7th studio album 'Femme Fatale'. HOLD IT AGAINST ME is a storming pop song that infuses Pop with the Dubstep sound that was all the rage in the early 10's! The video is amazing. I'm really happy to see that this is the highest charting track from the FF era (just!). I have always had a huge soft spot for it and I am happy that it's the highest place track from 'Femme Fatale', as I would have assumed it would be 'Til the World Ends'.

WOMANIZER
[Avg. 9.12]

Highest Score: JosephStyles (11)

Another number and another lead single dropping out before we hit the top 20. This time it's the lead track from 'Circus', WOMANIZER. This was dubbed as "the commercial comeback" of Britney, despite releasing her most critically received album just a year prior. 'Womanizer' got the 'Circus' era off to a flying start where, at the time, it had claimed the record as the biggest jump to #1 in Billboard history as it jumped from #96 - #1! It was also a massive hit pretty much everywhere else too as it became her biggest hit in the UK since 'Everytime' ('Piece of Me' smashed ofc, but this outdid it). Released on that infamous big pop female week in 2008, Britney ranked 2nd highest of the new entries behind Beyonce - If I Were A Boy. Other releases were: Leona Lewis - Forgive Me & Christina Aguilera - Keeps Getting Better. I think Alesha Dixon's massive hit 'The Boy Does Nothing' was released that day too, but at that point Alesha wasn't a "threat" as such. SO much respect for 'Womanizer' and it's not an all time favourite, but I'm happy we have it as it's a banger.

At the unlucky number of 21 and missing out on the top 20 is 'Britney' album track CINDERELLA. This is highly regarded as a missed single opportunity from the 'Britney' album. It has that classic early 00's pop sound that Britney really excelled at back then. When I think of the 'Britney' era I think about 'Overprotected', this and 'Lonely' being the holy trinity in terms of what represents the sound of that era the best. Just infectious and punchy choruses over a slick produced pop beat! Incredible stuff. I think this would've been a massive hit for her after 'I'm Not A Girl...' did it's thing. Very happy to see it as the highest rated album track from that album and SO close to the top 20!

[Avg. 9.19]

Highest Score: NickF1, Nina West & jAddy! 10
Lowest Score: blacksquare 08

Into the top 20 we go and starting us off is the album version of (YOU DRIVE ME) CRAZY which ended up getting spruced up with a "STOP! Remix" to become the 3rd single from the 'Baby One More Time' album. In all honesty, there's not a HUGE amount of difference between the two versions, but there's enough to notice a difference. The album version kinda lacks that little extra kick, that the single version (which is still to come in the countdown) gave. Such a great song. Probably one of those that the casual public never remember but the minute they hear it, they'll appreciate and say it's one of their faves from her or something. Great song. Glad the single version is higher!

EVERYONE GIVE UP FOR TINASHA!!! SLUMBER PARTY (FEAT. TINASHE) hits number 19 in the Ultimateney Rate. Very, pleasantly surprised that this managed to hit top 20 here. Such a great song that deserved more than it got (a recurring theme with Tinashe's career tbh sleep.gif) I wasn't huge on this becoming announced as a single over the likes of 'Just Luv Me', 'Love Me Down' and even the bonus tracks like 'Better' or 'Liar'... but once it was announced Tinashe was going to LIVE HER DREAM of collaborating with one of her biggest idols, I forgot everything and was immediately hyped. The video is incredible and it's so great seeing the pure joy on Tinashe's face with as she shares the screen with Brit! A great song that deserves it's placing in the top 20. Legends.

OVERPROTECTED
[Avg. 9.23]

Highest Score: Tafty & JosephStyles 11
Lowest Score: Juan Carlos & Euphorique 07

At number 18 we have her most underrated single OVERPROTECTED. I don't think this song gets talked about and appreciated enough tbh. It's absolutely KILLER! The verses are incredible. The bridge. The chorus. THE MIDDLE 8! Then we have the brilliant https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRq7J13lXps of her in that catsuit. AN ABSOLUTE MEGASTAR!! She did THAT on TOTP! Everything about this song is just brilliant and it's frustrating that it doesn't get the appreciation it deserves tbh. I'm appreciating the love on here though and how we managed to get it to #18 <3

TOUCH OF MY HAND
[Avg. 9.25]

Highest Score: Cremey 11
Lowest Score: letloverule 06

At number 17 we have the incredibly popular 'In The Zone' album track, TOUCH OF MY HAND. Instantly one of the highlights from the ITZ album, this song has always been a fan favourite and in 2016 she brought it back and re-added it to her tour setlists and performances. This is pretty much the result I would have expected a William Orbit x Britney collab to be. The song itself is about female masturbation and I don't know anyone better to record a song of that nature and make it seem so innocent and not about that at all... lmao. Great stuff! The strings in this are stellar. Definitely should've been a single, but I imagine radio would have shunned it pretty big!

[Avg. 9.31]

Highest Score: ...ready for it & jAddy! 11
Lowest Score: blacksquare & dannjohn 07

At number 16 we have second single from ''Circus'' era, self-titled song Circus. The song begins with the iconic line ''There's only two types of people in the world, the ones that entertain and the ones that observe'' and then she continues into addictive pre-chorus I'm like the ring leader, I call the shots (Call the shots) I'm like a firecracker I make it hot, When I put on a show which leads into brilliant chorus All eyes on me in the center of the ring, Just like a circus, When I crack that whip, everybody gon' trip, Just like a circus, Don't stand there watchin' me, follow me, Show me what you can do, Everybody let go, we can make a dance floor, Just like a circus. The song was ww hit with many of top 3/5/10 peaks. Currently this song is one of few Britney singles which are trending on Tik Tok!

Next at number 15 is Blackout's third single Break The Ice. The song starts with iconic line ''It's been a while
I know I shouldn't have kept you waiting, But I'm here now''.
Sadly this song was not that much chart darling but it did had some good peaks ww. This is the first ever Britney's single which has got animated video and tbf it looks pretty good.

Like 'Circus' a lot. Glad to see it's the highest single from this album, surprised that it's been beaten by an album track though ohmy.gif

ADORE 'Break the Ice'. The song just keeps getting better and better for me, the older it gets. It's fantastic! Definitely one of her most interesting in terms of it's production. So good!

AND THEN WE KISS (JUNKIE XL REMIX) is the next song to drop out! It endedThis song ended up being a big number 1 in Israel, where it reigned for 8 weeks I believe! It was never officially released in the US but this song still managed to peak at #15 on the US Dance/Mix Airplay chart and spent 11 weeks on there, thanks to the strength of airplay. The remix has a very William Orbit (producer on Madonna - Ray of Light album) sound to it. It's so dreamy, light and airy! It's absolutely GORGEOUS. Such a great song that really should have been pushed to promote the B In the Mix album.

UNUSUAL YOU
[Avg. 9.375 (MORE 10's)]

Highest Score: ...ready for it, blacksquare, Euphorique & dannjohn 11
Lowest Score: letloverule 06

At number 13 we have UNUSUAL YOU which is the highest rated song from 'Circus'. I like this a lot, but don't love it quite as much as most. It's always been a big fan favourite though so I'm not surprised to see it in the top 20. Should have been a single to show off a completely new and different side to Britney that the casuals had never heard before, I think it would have been a big hit for her. I'd have placed it lower, personally, but can see why it's so popular.

Posted by: London 26th April 2021, 11:23 PM

Unusual You has always been one of my favourite songs. Reminds me of Christmas 2008, heading back to see the the family. Driving in the car, screaming / singing it. Love it, love it, love it.

‘Baby you're so unusual. Didn't anyone tell you, you're supposed to, break my heart?’

Circus single release should have gone:
Womanizer in the Autumn
Unusual You for Christmas
Circus
If you seek Amy / Kill the lights

I love Radar but they messed that release up with it being on Blackout.

Lowest Score: letloverule 06

Up next we have a track that has finished higher than I thought it would, but I'm really not mad! MAKE ME (FEAT. G-EAZY) was the lead single from Britney's most recent studio album 'Glory', 5 years ago. Listening to this takes me back to the Summer of 2016 and just blaring this out loud as I went for walks, collecting Pokemon via Pokemon GO... So happy to see it get the credit it deserves on here, coz it's fantastic! So smooth, lush and the production is exquisite. It's a shame the video to this song doesn't exist </3 I wonder if it would have been any good? thinking.gif

WORK BITCH
[Avg. 9.58]

Highest Score: Jay & JosephStyles 11
Lowest Score: blacksquare, letloverule & HausofArgento 08

No score below an 8 gets WORK BITCH in a finishing position literally just outside the top 10! Such a weird song in terms of chart success. It had rubbish peaks and a chart life that was short, but it has instantly become a modern day Britney classic. Similarly to TTWE, except on a much bigger scale. One of the ULTIMATE workout tracks and is constantly in the top 3 workout playlists for people. SO much adrenaline to get from it though as the beat really hammers hard. A great song, with iconic and quotable lyrics. Her last true hit in the UK, I think. The video is absolutely KILLER! She looks incredible and the routines... whew! YOU BETTER f***ING WORK BITCH YES!

I love both 'Toxic' and 'Everytime' but hope the former can win as the latter seems to be overshadowing it in competitions recently!

BREATHE ON ME
[Avg. 9.65]

Highest Score: Nina West & JuanCarlos 11
Lowest Score: letloverule 07

Kicking off the top 10 is the highest non-single in the countdown, it's the sultry, smooth and sexy BREATHE ON ME which was taken from Britney's 4th studio album, 'In The Zone'. It's widely regarded as Brit's most controversial song and many think it should have been a single. Her performance of this song on her Onyx Hotel Tour is one of the best performances ever. For a performance that was only ever on tour, it's crazy just how much traction it got. I remember a whole lot of controversy surrounding it and parents being "shocked and stunned" lmaooooo. It's not my "favourite" Britney song, but it is absolutely KILLER! Definitely up there though. Great song and yes... it SHOULD have been a single.

Posted by: Warwick Avenue 5th May 2021, 10:44 AM

Breathe On Me is fantastic definitely a missed single opportunity.

Realistically ‘In The Zone’ could’ve had five or six singles.

[Avg. 9.83]

Highest Score: Jay*, Nina West & JosephStyles 11
Lowest Score: ...ready for it & blacksquare 08

(YOU DRIVE ME) CRAZY [STOP! REMIX] is the next song to leave. It ended up becoming the 3rd single from her debut album with a single remix where it feels punchier and has the ICONIC "STOP!" beat drop! Such a great single choice and the song is fantastic. It was another top 5 smash for R BRIT. It peaked at #5 as it followed up the #1 & #3 smashes 'Baby One More Time' & 'Sometimes'. So weird that this was the lowest charting single from the album when post-album single 'Born To Make You Happy' scored the UK #1! What a crazy time. It feels a lot bigger than both 'Sometimes' and 'Born To Make You Happy', am I the only one? Lol. Anyway, the video is another ICONIC serve. The outfits, the choreo, the fact they're back at a school disco and OMG THAT'S SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH!!!!!! Incredible.

Posted by: Warwick Avenue 5th May 2021, 09:33 PM

Ah am I the only person that then use to insert ‘STOP!’ Into the middle of any song? Haha

Highest Score: Jay*, NickF1, Nina West, Jade, jAddy!, JosephStyles & dj tim e 11
Lowest Score: euphorique & dannjohn 07

Up next and a HUGE shock... TOXIC is the next to leave us at a rather underwhelming #8 position. The 2nd single from 'In The Zone' and a song that is often cited as a pop classic and more often than not, it's usually battling it out with 'Baby One More Time' and/or 'Everytime' in singles rates and countdowns, but lately it seems to have been fading (well not so much "fading" coz this average, is probably higher than any average it's had before when it's won these types of things - idk) in Buzzjack's affections for some strange reason and has been failing to get much support behind it... it's really quite bizarre! An absolute MONSTER of a pop song and one of the most defining hits of the noughties. Stellar pop song. Outstanding, career best, video... everything. It became her 4th UK #1 and deservedly so. I wasn't expecting this to miss the top 3, but if people had rated in every single part of the rate, then maybe the results woulda been a bit different, idk.

Posted by: Warwick Avenue 6th May 2021, 09:10 PM

Wow! Toxic at #8 is a shock. I was expecting top 3 for sure.

Posted by: Tafty 6th May 2021, 11:31 PM

I think Buzzjack just went through a phase of being sick of seeing 'Toxic' win all the time so probably didn't score this as much as they usually would... but now that it's lost to a few songs I can see BJ rallying behind it again in other rates! What a masterpiece.

BORN TO MAKE YOU HAPPY
[Avg. 9.92]

Highest Score: ...ready for it, NickF1, letloverule, HausofKubrick, JosephStyles & Euphorique 11
Lowest Score: Jade 07

Finishing in 7th position is BORN TO MAKE YOU HAPPY which I don't think was a single in the US! Everywhere else got this as the final single from the debut album and it managed to become Britney's 2nd UK number 1 single. A really, incredibly impressive feat considering the album had sold the amount it did at the time and none of the other singles before it and since 'Baby One More Time' managed to get that #1! I feel like BTMYH is one of her more mature efforts from the early stages of her career. It's a bop. I have never "loved" it the way I should, but I've always appreciated and liked it. I'm glad it closed out the era on a massive high! Definitely one of her more forgotten songs nowadays, I think. Which is a shame, but at least Buzzjack love it!

Just missing out on the top 5 is the infectious, catchy and one of the biggest most empowering anthems of all time... STRONGER became the 3rd single to be taken from Britney's record breaking 2nd album 'Oops...! I Did It Again'. It's always been a huge favourite of mine and I really believe if given the right exposure, this would make an impact again in some kind of way. The ultimate self-love anthem imo. That intro is LEGENDARY. SO much impact. The video is another iconic one and if you weren't trying to do that chairography in school with your friends, then I would believe you are a liar. Incredible. This was the BIIIIG highlight of her tour when I went to see her back in 2017. The crowd went ballistic for it. Just amazing. I will never get bored of this.

OOPS...! I DID IT AGAIN
[Avg. 10.115 [3 x 11]]

Highest Score: Jay*, Jade & Euphorique 11
Lowest Score: blacksquare 09

The lead single from Britney's record breaking 2nd album of the same name kick starts the top 5. OOPS...! I DID IT AGAIN became an instant classic and remains one to this very day. That intro, much like 'Baby One More Time' & 'Gimme More' is one of the most iconic intros of ALL time. The video remains a masterpiece too. Yet again another HUGE talking point for Britney. It's honestly one of THE single, greatest pure pop songs of all time. You don't get much bigger, grander and more electrifying than this. The top 5 in this rate all hit an average over 10! This lost to 4th place by receiving just 3 "11's" to 4th places whopping 7! An absolutely iconic song and one of Britney's biggest and signature hits. Outstanding.

[Avg. 10.115 [6 x 11]]

Highest Score: ...ready for it, blacksquare, Nina West, Jade, jAddy! & letloverule 11
Lowest Score: Euphorique 07

At the number 4 is the lead single from Britney's third self titled album 'Britney' I'M A SLAVE 4 U. The song has become one of hers finest moments in her career. This was Britney's transition from good girl to the sexy girl. The video is one of the sweatiest videos ever. She gave us besides sweat, iconic dance moves and iconic live performances of the song. I think that there's no person who follow pop culuture that didn't watch her legendary performamce on VMA's 2001 with huge snake! That was so brave and iconic. Chart wise the song was popular WW aside Billboard Hot 100 were the song only reached number 27... Today this song is classic and it's getting decent daily streams on Spotify over 100,000 streams each day!

'Slave 4 U' is one of the sexiest songs of all time, imo. It was the perfect song to use to turn her from teen-pop sensation to global superstar, imo. Incredible. Aged like fine wine to me. wub.gif ICONIC.

GIMME MORE
[Avg. 10.125]

Highest Score: Jay*, Tafty, blacksquare, Nina West, Jade, jAddy!, Juan Carlos, Cremey & dj tim e 11
Lowest Score: Euphorique 05

At number 3 is GIMME MORE. I think this is the all time greatest intro to a song of ALL TIME. That "It's Britney Bitch" became instantly iconic and it still referred to throughout pop culture to this very day. The production on this is stellar! One of her best produced songs of all time, taken from one of the most influential and best produced albums of all time. It's an all time fave of mine and I am ecstatic that it finished as high as 3, here. The video is low-key iconic. It's a mess, but I kinda love how much of a mess it is! This really pops off in a club setting and the minute we hear "IT'S BRITNEY BITCH" the crowd goes crazy! Insane. Lets not forget that it is also a part of one of the biggest memes of 2016/2017 when she went on tour and after that extended intro someone at one of her shows yelled "WHO IS IIIITTT??" right before the intro... and it was BEAUTIFULLY timed. An iconic song that became an instant classic. WE STAN.

Highest Score: ...ready for it, Jay*, Tafty, Jade, JosephStyles & dannjohn 11
Lowest Score: Euphorique 08

Finishing in the runner-up spot we have the mesmerizing and beautiful 3rd single from 'In The Zone'... the haunting EVERYTIME. If you know me, you know that this is my #1 Britney song of all time. It was released as a single from her 'In The Zone' album at such a pivotal and important time in my life, that it's kind of become such a sentimental song to me. The best thing about this is that Britney came up with the piano riff/melody all on her own. I love how dark and haunting yet so stunning and beautiful it is. Just so tender and a lot of care went into this song which feels like it's one of her most personal songs. The song went on to become a massive hit in the UK! It became her 5th (and final for 9 years!) number 1. The video is incredible. Probably her most "cinematic" piece. Incredible story. I remember the controversy surrounding the video! Also, this has a GREAT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iApb64dXLYg. What a song. My 2nd favourite of all time behind only, 'Euphoria'.

FUN RATE FACT: 3 people voted for this but didn't vote for 'Baby One More Time'. Had they not voted for this, then we would have had a joint winner!

Lowest Score: Euphorique 08

THERE WE HAVE IT. THE WINNER OF THE BUZZJACK ULTIMATE BRITNEY SPEARS RATE! BABY ONE MORE TIME was released in 1998 & 1999 and is still widely regarded as one of THE best, most iconic and most influential debut singles of all time. Those opening chords will flood ANY dancefloor. It's just utter pop perfection and it's easy to see why it's one of the biggest debut singles ever. It's cultural relevancy and impact is still felt very much today. It birthed a new popstar overnight. The video is one of the absolute BEST music videos of all time. Every scene and look feels legendary but none more so than the school girl outfit. Such an incredible debut and one that I personally don't think will ever be touched... we have a couple of debut singles that have close, but none that have quite matched the legendary status of this. Such a deserved winner.

Baby is def worth winner!

Thanks Jo for finishing this heart.gif

I’m glad baby one more time came above everytime. I can still remember the first time I heard and saw the video to Baby one more time. I was walking through the music section in WH Smith. I spotted it playing on the screen and my mouth dropped open. Just stood there and watched it. And then Britney mania at my school began… we all know the rest heart.gif

Gutted I missed the rate in this but loved keeping track and thanks so much to everyone who made this possible!
