Hello!
We had a nice round 20 participants and thank you to all
Feel free to speculate and I shall kick this off with the first question at around 19:30
Excited for this *.*
Really have no idea how I've done in this, expecting anything between a few Pointlesses & a string of wrong answers
1. Name a movie that has won 'Best Picture' at the Academy Awards since (and including) the year 2000
Slumdog Millionaire (2009)
Jahq
Argo (2013)
Josh

Nelly

randomfurlong

Dobbo, Leonardo
12 Years a Slave (2014) (1)
Jonjo, Chez Wombat
Million Dollar Baby (2005) (1)
Ultraviolence, Spinning Adam
Crash (2006) (3)
Mack, Rooney, Joe, Acidburn
Gravity *INCORRECT* (19)
Bre
The majority of possible answers were given here, with a couple of exceptions being the current 'Best Picture' holder, Birdman, and Lord Of The Rings: Return of the King which may crop up in the next question.
We have seven pointless answers, a few picking up a single point and Crash, being named by four people. Just randomly picking from the middle of the time period maybe?
Bray makes a good guess, Gravity was of course nominated last year but eventually lost out to 12 Years a Slave.
Crash is such an awful movie, have no clue how it won best picture
Oh yay, starting how I hope to go on. I really should watch more of those as they are clearly good movies, so far I've only watched 12 Years a Slave from the whole list and absolutely loved how the story, the script and way it was filmed that just created such a sad atmosphere while watching it so hopefully the rest of the list is just as good.
UV how could you? </3
Poor Bre :')
2. Name a movie from either the Lord Of The Rings, Twilight or Hunger Games franchises
Breaking Dawn: Part 1 (Twilight)
Ultraviolence
Catching Fire (The Hunger Games)
Josh
Mockingjay: Part 2 (The Hunger Games)
Chez Wombat
The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug (LOTR)
Joe

Rooney, Tim

Leonardo, Froot

Jahq, Benzy, Acidburn
Fellowship of the Ring (LOTR) (3)
Dobbo, Jonjo, Mack, HausofKubrick
The Divergent Series: Allegiant Part 1 *INCORRECT* (19)
Johnkm
Six pointless answers here. 'Part 2' appears more popular than 'Part 1' counterparts, Twilight: Eclipse was snubbed and Joe goes for a loophole that I wish I'd closed off. I decided that The Hobbit movies are technically part of the Lord Of The Rings franchise, if only the phrasing of the question had been series
John was wondering whether I'd be accepting movies that have yet to be released, personally I'd be more concerned about naming a movie from a franchise/series that I was asking for
'No Country For Old Men' is my favourite Best Movie winner in years and years so i had to go for it. Yay for it being pointless too
FFS Rooney
I had the same idea as Chez but decided to go for my favourite film in the end. Not watched any LOTR/Hobbit or Twilight films before which maybe I should change because they're clearly v popular.
3. Name a movie that Meryl Streep has received an Academy Award nomination for
Kramer vs. Kramer (Best Supporting Actress; 1980)
Mack
The Deer Hunter (Best Supporting Actress; 1979)
Chez Wombat

Sophie’s Choice (Best Actress; 1983)
HausofKubrick
Into The Woods (Best Supporting Actress; 2015) (1)
Jahq, Jonjo
Out Of Africa (Best Actress; 1986) (1)
Dobbo, Josh
Julie & Julia (Best Actress; 2010) (1)
Ultraviolence, Benzy
Postcards from the Edge (Best Actress; 1991) (1)
Spinning Adam, randomfurlong
The Iron Lady (Best Actress; 2012) (3)
Rooney, Bre, Johnkm, Froot
Plenty of choices and we come away with eight pointless answers. No one appears to have got this one wrong, the three films that she won for were all mentioned with her most recent win for The Iron Lady (where she played former PM Margaret Thatcher) being the most popular answer.
Yay!. A pointless answer.
Good film that is Kramer vs Kramer.
Beaten off a pointless by 1 again!
4. Name a cast member who appears on the poster for Love Actually
Colin Firth
Jonjo
Keira Knightly
Ultraviolence
Emma Thompson
Tim
Rowan Atkinson (1)
Chez Wombat, Bre
Liam Neeson (1)
Joe, HausofKubrick
Hugh Grant (2)
Jahq, Nelly, Froot
Laura Linney (2)
Dobbo, Benzy, randomfurlong
Alan Rickman (2)
Josh, Acidburn, Johnkm
Bill Nighy (3)
Mack, Spinning Adam, Rooney, Leonardo
Love Actually, what a wonderful film to watch around Christmas Ten possible answers, love is all around for Bill Nighy as he proves most popular. But what can I say for poor Martine McCutcheon who played the love interest for Hugh Grant and ends up being the only one snubbed.
I was between Osage county and Julie and Julia for that one so it turns out it wouldn't have made a difference whichever one i went for *.*
And Keira Knightly- the best of the bunch- being pointless *.*
I didnt enter this as I forgot too oops but Crash is such a great film I highly recommend it
5. Name a movie that has topped the UK Box Office in 2015
Fifty Shades of Grey
Dobbo
Taken 3
Acidburn
Big Hero 6
randomfurlong
Furious 7 (1)
Mack, Rooney

Chez Wombat, Froot
Jurassic World (1)
Joe, Leonardo
Minions (2)
Benzy, Nelly, Johnkm
Inside Out (2)
Jonjo, Bre, HausofKubrick
Home (4)
Jahq, Ultraviolence, Josh, Spinning Adam, Tim
So animations dominate our top (or is it bottom) 3 here with Home being the highest scorer thus far
Our three pointless answers happen to be the first three (out of those named) that topped the box office this year and the three biggest movies of the year so far (unless Minions happens to have already overtaken Furious 7 by now or it may just be on the verge) all score a single point.
Ouch at all those points for home Though it's probably my favourite of the lot
6. Name an actress who was nominated for a Razzie this year
Jennifer Aniston (Razzie Redeemer Award)
Jonjo
Nicola Peltz (Worst Supporting Actress)
Josh
Gaia Weiss (Worst Actress)

Jahq, Dobbo, Ultraviolence, Chez Wombat, Froot, HausofKubrick
My vagina *INCORRECT* (19)
Bre
And like that, Home is no longer the most popular answer of the round. Poor Cameron. I thought The Other Woman was GREAT, I enjoyed her in Annie and Sex Tape was at least passable. I love her.
Bray hadn't got a clue and trying to answer everything off the top of his head...yeah.
I went for Cameron as she was the only one I could remember of the top of my head. Tbh the other woman is in the top 3 of last year, she was the best part about the awful Annie and was great in sex tape as well so it was a shame to see her win the award
There I was thinking I was being clever by going with 'Inside Out' before the charts were even announced for that week!
Should've tried your luck with Mission Impossible
7. Name an actor who has played James Bond
Timothy Dalton
Josh
Bob Holness
Spinning Adam
Peter Sellers
Acidburn
Christopher Cazenove
HausofKubrick
Daniel Craig (1)
Nelly, Froot
David Niven (1)
Johnkm, randomfurlong
Roger Moore (2)
Mack, Joe, Tim
Pierce Brosnan (3)
Jahq, Dobbo, Benzy, Leonardo
Sean Connery (4)
Jonjo, Ultraviolence, Rooney, Chez Wombat, Bre
Not really what I was intending. Sean Connery is most popular of our genuine answers, Timothy Dalton is a pointless that I approve of and then we have the people trying to find loopholes. At least it wasn't pulled off entirely for John and David (David Niven played James Bond in the 1967 Casino Royale but it isn't one of the Eon productions that I was really looking for).
Peter Sellers also starred, as Evelyn Tremble, someone pretending to be James Bond (very dodgy and I'm tempted to mark as incorrect). Bob Holness played Bond in a radio production and quoted from Bal's PM, Christopher "played Bond in Omnibus: The British Hero, a documentary and literary review style show on the BBC". I really want to give these AGAINST THE SPIRIT OF THE QUESTION answers half of the incorrect mark if we can rally the troops and get support for that to happen.
Two pointlesses in a row!
8. Name a movie musical released this decade
Walking On Sunshine
Jahq
The Last Five Years
Ultraviolence
Rock of Ages
Mack
Sunshine on Leith

Into The Woods (1)
Leonardo, Johnkm
Burlesque (1)
Froot, randomfurlong
Frozen (2)
Benzy, Bre, HausofKubrick
Les Miserables (3)
Jonjo, Josh, Spinning Adam, Chez Wombat
High School Musical *INCORRECT* (19)
Tim
High School Musical 3 *INCORRECT* (19)
Rooney
I know High School Musical is iconic guys but none of them have been released 2010 onwards.
Oscar nominated Les Mis is our most popular of the correct answers followed by Frozen I assume Bray used the 'go for my favourite' technique Acidburn went Canadian to get his pointless, kudos for effort
Double bluffing didn't work this time:(
Mess I thought the question meant movie converted into a musical
I was doing so well
Ugh, and it was going so well Double bluffing not working very well here.
9. Name an actor or actress who appeared in all eight Harry Potter movies
Tom Felton
Rooney
James Phelps
Benzy
Rupert Grint
Tim
Alan Rickman
randomfurlong
Warwick Davis (1)
Spinning Adam, Joe
Emma Watson (2)
Jahq, Ultraviolence, Bre
Matthew Lewis (2)
Jonjo, Leonardo, HausofKubrick
Devon Murray (2)
Josh, Mack, Acidburn
Daniel Radcliffe (3)
Dobbo, Chez Wombat, Nelly, Froot
Maggie Smith *INCORRECT* (19)
Johnkm
Look at Devon Murray aka. Seamus being answered as many times as Emma Watson and MORE than Rupert Grint.
Warwick Davis appeared in all eight movies but it's notable that he wasn't playing the same character in all of them and according to both Wikipedia and IMDB, Maggie Smith doesn't have a credit for Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Part 1 whereas everyone else does so unless proved otherwise she is INCORRECT.
Omg, another 1!
10. Name a song on the 'Mamma Mia! The Movie Soundtrack' CD
I Have a Dream
Jonjo
Our Last Summer
Ultraviolence
The Name Of the Game
Leonardo
The Winner Takes It All
Tim
Mamma Mia (1)
Dobbo, Rooney
Super Trouper (1)
Benzy, Froot
Honey, Honey (1)
Josh, Joe
SOS (2)
Jahq, Mack, Chez Wombat
Does Your Mother Know? (2)
Spinning Adam, Acidburn, Johnkm
Lay All Your Love On Me (2)
Bre, HausofKubrick, randomfurlong
I Do I Do I Do I Do I Do *INCORRECT* (19)
Nelly
"Although it is one of several songs featured in the 2008 Mamma Mia! movie adaptation, it was not included on the official soundtrack"
Poor Nelly I hope this wasn't a troll answer as you were doing so well.
Party classic 'Dancing Queen' snubbed, along with one of my favourites in 'Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight)'. My other favourites both pick up two points ('SOS' & 'Lay All Your Love On Me').
I need to add up the leaderboard, may get it up tonight. Jonjo has a dream to win but will Tim be the winner to take it all???
Lay all your love on me/SOS/Gimme Gimme Gimme are also my favourites
Thanks for hosting Jahq
If you are interested in hosting a pointless please send either of us a direct message
Gimme Gimme is my favourite but had to go with the obvious here to avoid a late hurdle trip-up.
Oh no no no no no I really thought that was a song!
I flopped pretty badly I think!
Glad I went with the worst song from the soundtrack *.* 'Lay All Your Love On Me', 'Honey, Honey' & of COURSE 'Does Your Mother Know' are the three best <3
The Winner Takes It All is my favourite ABBA song and probably my favourite from MM too because yass Meryl! I'm still so in love with Christine's Does Your Mother Know though. Honey, Honey came to mind first because it's such a good opening to one of my all time favourite movies.
LOL, dead last it is then. I'm really terrible at Pointless and my DELIRIUM is to blame for assuming you had asked for Divergent too, oops.
Ohhh, I did ok. I've clearly not won though, my ambition to win SOMETHING on Buzzjack continues. Thanks for this Jak!
I've shown where ties can be broken, but awarded equal placing anyway Congrats to David, our last entrant ends up winning it all.

Oh ffs I could've won if I had read the question right and bothered to google
Ugh. Bre.
Bloody Randomfurlong and his overflowing movie knowledge. >.<
Over to here for the Family Fortunes edition now please, guys: http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=181070
OMG
JOINT 6?!!
Very pleased with this:D
