Biography

Little Mix are a British girl group formed in 2011 during the eighth series of the UK version of The X Factor. They were the first group to win the competition, and following their victory, they signed with Simon Cowell's record label Syco Music and released a cover of Damien Rice's "Cannonball" as their winner's single. The members are Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jesy Nelson.

Little Mix released their debut album DNA in 2012, which peaked inside the top 10 in ten countries including the UK and US. This made Little Mix the first girl group since the Pussycat Dolls to reach the US top five with their debut album, as well as earning the highest debut US chart position for a British girl group's first release, breaking the record previously held by the Spice Girls. The group's second album Salute (2013) became their second album to debut inside the top 10 in both the UK and US. Their third album Get Weird was released in 2015. Their fourth album Glory Days (2016) became their first number one album in the UK, and also achieved the longest-reigning girl group number one album since the Spice Girls' debut album 20 years earlier, and the highest first week UK album sales for a girl band since 1997. In the UK, the group has earned four number-one singles, including "Wings", "Black Magic" and "Shout Out to My Ex".

The group won Best British Single for "Shout Out to My Ex" at the 2017 Brit Awards; they have also received several other awards during their career, including two MTV Europe Music Awards, two Teen Choice Awards and two Glamour Awards. As of August 2018, the group has achieved four platinum certified albums and sixteen certified singles in the UK. Little Mix appeared on Debrett's 2017 list of the most influential people in the UK.

That prediction was sadly accurate.

Also R1 seriously choosing to play Calvin & Dua AGAIN over AJ Tracey's track on its second - and potentially last - week in the top 40? Poor choice.

Glad this still managed to debut in the top 40 despite the Spotify f***ery. It really needs a Hot Hits add ASAP.

Biography

Jessica Hannah Glynne (born 20 October 1989) is an English singer and songwriter. After signing with Atlantic Records, she rose to prominence in 2014 as a featured artist on the singles "Rather Be" by Clean Bandit and "My Love" by Route 94, both of which reached number one in the UK.

Her debut studio album, I Cry When I Laugh (2015), debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and saw the international success of the singles "Hold My Hand" and "Don't Be So Hard On Yourself". Glynne's second studio album, Always In Between (2018), also debuted at number one in the UK and saw continued success with the singles "I'll Be There" and "All I Am", which made Glynne the first British female solo artist to have seven number one singles on the UK Singles Chart.

Biography

South London MC Yungen has an honest approach to his lyrics, carefully weaving stories from the street with his own outlook on life. Like others on the London rap scene, Yungen started writing at a young age. At first it was just a personal outlet, but gradually people began to take notice. His debut mixtape, The New Era Project, was released independently in 2009. It wasn't until his 2014 debut album Project Black & Red, however, that he started to gain traction. As a result, he was nominated Best Newcomer at the MOBO Awards 2015; shortly after the awards he signed his first record deal with Sony RCA. At the start of 2016, Yungen was shortlisted on BBC Radio 1Xtra's One to Watch list, heralding what would become a breakthrough year for the artist. That same year he engaged in a war of words with North London rap artist Chip (formerly known as Chipmunk). The battle took place over the course of a few months, with both artists recording tracks and videos in escalating attacks on each other to the point where the story found its way onto the U.K.'s Channel 4 news. In 2017, he issued a series of singles, including "Chosen" and "All Night" with Mr. Eazi. In early 2018, Yungen joined with vocalist Jess Glynne for "Mind on It." - iTunes

Yeah I was totallly shocked, I guess it appeals to casual listeners who like hearing the 'big hits' but it kinda destroys the argument that this rushed chart format is to make the chart sound less stagnated.

This is quite dramatic - they've played a mix of fresh music and big hits so far, both of which are what the chart is about. The AJ Tracey track dropped 9 places this week, while One Kiss is an established hit still slaying almost a year on. I'd be thinking differently if AJ Tracey's track were a new entry, but it's a big dropper this week instead.

(same rules don't apply for new entries involving 6ix9ine, they can skip him all they want)
