AJ has been teasing his 2nd album quite a bit now on his Twitter recently and released his new single 'Anxious' on his birthday this year. I'm not sure if his singles from last year are going to be included on the album although he's teased that there's going to be a few drill tracks so I'm guessing they won't be.
If Anxious is the lead it feels like a bit of an uncommercial one but I'm enjoying it all the same. His debut album is a banger and all the singles he's released since have been great so this is right up there with my most anticipated of the year!
Anxious is sounding really good, definitely the best thing he's done in ages. Much prefer that to his poppy commercial rubbish.
The album is officially called Flu Game and will be released on 16th April.
That is an... interesting title?
'Anxious' is a solid tune to lead off the album, looks like a pretty unenthusing list of features there though. (Also seems strange that 'Dinner Guest' and 'West Ten' are being treated as basically bonus tracks but not 'Bringing It Back' despite that not even being primarily his song lol? Guess that might be implying that the rest of the album isn't going to have much overtly commercial stuff on it).
There's a Kehlani feature as well according to Genius, that's a little more potentially interesting than the rest of that list. Would prefer to see more UK collabs though, AJ is at his worst when he's trying to hopelessly pander to American audiences.
Album is out at midnight and the next single is called 'Little More Love' and will be released at 7 tonight.
Listened to this this morning and it’s quite good!
I managed to listen to this before and was surprised by how similar the first half of the album sounded to the 'Secure the Bag 2' EP that was released just before Christmas. On first listen, I don't think it's anywhere near as strong as his debut but there's still some songs that sound like growers. Early favourites are Little More Love, Top Dog, Eurostep & Kukoč.
The Kehlani collab is great!
