Ehhh...I just stumbled in a few minutes ago to see what the singles survivor thread was all about, saw a poll, voted without giving it much thought...and then realised I'd tipped the balance in SOTU's favour in the final of this thing...and then saw that the thread was immediately locked and the vote closed blink.gif. I know this is a pretty big deal so sorry to any CTS fans for wandering it at the wrong moment. 'Can't Speak French' should have made the final though. Anyway, I'll leave now.

I didn't intentionally do that laugh.gif I just viewed the thread, saw it wasn't a tie anymore and locked it, didn't realise it was so soon after that vote occurred haha!

So glad 'Call The Shots' didn't win this, unbelievably overrated.

Good that 'No Good Advice', 'Biology' and 'Something Kinda Oooh' finished so high, even if the former should've been the runaway winner.

What is it about it which makes you feel it doesn't deserve to be rated as highly as it is? sad.gif It's such a glorious pop song. That middle 8 is one of the best Girls Aloud moments ever, especially in concert. For me, it thoroughly deserves the praise it gets. I'd even lean towards it being underrated rather than overrated. It should have done more than #3 / Silver (ugh, 2007 sales).

~

Regarding the overall results, 'Something New' coming 27th is still completely ridiculous. laugh.gif I'm a bit disappointed that 'Something Kinda Ooooh' missed out on the Top 5. Surprised that 'Sexy!' missed out on Top 10 whereas 'The Loving Kind' made it in.

Spot on, as usual James. 'Call The Shots' is pop perfection. It's probably one of my favourite pop songs in the last decade or so. wub.gif

Back to the results, I'd like to add that 'The Promise' is way too low and 'Can't Speak French' is a tad too high, but other than that the results are about right. 'Sound Of The Underground' is a great winner.

'Call The Shots' is the song that has and will stand the test of time for them the most. It's glorious throughout and continues to excite me when I randomly hear it.

I actually quite like SOTU too, as well as most of their singles but it was no contest for me when choosing the winner.

Every time I checked the thread Call the shots and SOTU were drawing or Call the Shots would be ahead by 1. Typical it finally gets closed on SOTU.

I like both songs, but Call The Shots is GENIUS pop. and it's horrifying that it's not even sold 300k, despite an incredible chart run.

I'm sure 'Call The Shots' has sold more than 300k now. It's probably sold around 310-320k.

It had sold 290,000 by April 2010 so I'm sure it'll be past 300k now!

I just feel like the song doesn't really have anything to it, it's so pedestrian sounding and the chorus is totally flat.

'The Loving Kind' is like a much improved version of it.

For me, 'The Loving Kind' fits the bill for "pedestrian" out of all of their original singles. I like it, but it's not a very exciting listen, bar maybe the Nicola/Kimberley moment. Nicola hates the song, interestingly. laugh.gif
