THAT REVEAL!

Posted by: Jαsє Feb 14 2020, 11:58 PM

Are they really teasing us already when it's not due until 2021 laugh.gif

Posted by: Jay ☆ Feb 15 2020, 11:02 AM

Oh my! Interesting to give away a major spoiler in a trailer, even if it is a worst kept secret anyway.

I’m hopeful for S4 to be sometime this year *.*

Posted by: Steve201 Feb 16 2020, 02:50 PM

Hyped!!

If they've got this footage I imagine it'll be this summer.

I agree. I can definitely see them randomly releasing it and "doing a Beyoncé"! It's got so much momentum for it to be a smash right off the bat.

Posted by: Chez Wombat Feb 16 2020, 04:29 PM

Well at least the most obvious spoiler ever is out of the way x (srsly though, I thought better of you than pulling a Walking Dead/Game of Thrones on us, Stranger Things -__)

Posted by: Jester Feb 16 2020, 06:43 PM

Hopefully this is coming in the summer! I'm rewatching season 3 right now.

Exciting. A good teaser but no date!! pirate.gif

Posted by: Rooney May 6 2021, 02:18 PM

I think it will be either late 2021 or sometime in 2022. I think they're still filming it iirc?

Posted by: steve201 May 8 2021, 04:13 PM

When I get a date I’m rewatching the other series. It seems like forever since it was last on though the characters are properly full grown adults now.

Posted by: -Jay- Aug 11 2021, 06:18 AM

Confirmed to be 2022, nothing more specific than that cry.gif

Hopefully early 2022!

Separate note: can’t quite believe that Season 1 is 5 years old!! It premiered on 15th July 2016. I definitely intend to watch the first three seasons before Season 4.

Posted by: steve201 Aug 11 2021, 06:07 PM

Same here can barely remember them!

Posted by: Klaus Feb 17 2022, 03:32 PM

Teaser posters are being posted by the social media accounts with the tagline ‘Every Ending has a Beginning’. Potentially suggesting it may be the final season? Their Twitter bio also says 004/004, which would also align with it ending with this season.

Posted by: Klaus Feb 17 2022, 04:04 PM

omg I couldn’t have been more wrong. It’s a bumpersized season with almost double the usual length PLUS there will be a final Season 5! No wonder it’s taken so long to make laugh.gif

I’m glad it’s coming in two parts so that I don’t have to rush the entire thing so quickly in order to avoid spoilers. I’m glad things are slowly moving back towards being spaced out as I enjoy them more that way!

Also not it being two years since this thread was opened 💀

Posted by: Steve201 Feb 17 2022, 05:12 PM

Things like Ozarks return has been with part 1 and part 2 so maybe it’ll be like that!

Posted by: Lukuzz Feb 17 2022, 05:12 PM

Can’t wait. so how many eps will there be of S4 then?

I’m really glad to know that there’s so many more episodes still to come. This is so exciting *.*

9 episodes!

I’ve done the maths x The last season has 8 and had a running time of around 400 minutes in total so, if this is almost double the length, we’re potentially looking at up to 90 minute episodes (!)

Posted by: Rooney Feb 17 2022, 06:15 PM

I think they have always said 5-6 series, so I imagine they might do one more after this seeing as it's such a huge hit for Netflix, which reading the tweet above seems the case. Guessing there will be 6 or 7 episodes in each volume.. and at least there's not a huge wait between them so that's good!

The finale of s4 is confirmed to be 2.5 hours long DeadBanana.gif

7 episodes are being released next Friday, with the seventh episode being over 90 minutes. Then the final two episodes are released on 1 July with episode 8 being 90 minutes and episode 9 being 2.5 hours.

Posted by: -Jay- May 21 2022, 12:10 AM

Woahhhh at those episode lengths. I hope they justify their run times and don’t feel overly bloated! A two and a half hour finale is insane!

Overall the season will be about 13 hours in total, which is 5 more hours than previous seasons.

Posted by: Steve201 May 21 2022, 08:29 PM

Been watching the old series over the past week, so much I forgot!

Posted by: Mangø May 28 2022, 10:53 PM

Anyone watched Season 4 yet? Just binge-watched all 7 episodes over two nights and I have to say it's the best season yet. I won't give anything away but there's an EPIC twist in the final episode which is just mind-blowing!

Posted by: Tafty³³³ May 28 2022, 11:34 PM

Really loved being back in the ST world. It's excellent and that finale was fantastic.

The main issue I had with this season was Hopper's arc... I felt it wasn't really needed at all and they could've just left his character alone and dead tbh. Just felt a bit pointless?

Max has solidified herself as my absolute favourite now though. Her chemistry with Lucas is SOOOOO good! Episode 4... WHEW! What a performance by Sadie Sink. I just know that I'm gonna get annoyed come awards szn that MBB is gonna get all the recognition and nominations that Sadie deserves more, imo.

But yeah apart from Mike ( zzz.gif ) & Hopper's arc I loved it all.

EDIT: I didn't know what to spoiler and what not to spoiler so I did it just in case. However, I'm gonna give y'all until next Friday before I stop using the spoiler tags x

Posted by: Chez Wombat May 29 2022, 01:59 AM

Seen the first one, just felt like an establishing episode but gosh, I had forgotten just how many characters the show had at this point so it was needed laugh.gif I was thinking it was a little easy on the horror, but gosh those last ten minutes were pretty terrifying even for this show! Hyped *.

I like the focus on the DnD moral panic, it fits quite nicely into the themes of the show I'm gonna need Angela to get Chrissie's treatment though x The focus on her made it seem like she'd be an important character so I was a bit caught off guard by that ending, also, that intro in the lab...lots of questions there x

Now let me check out of this thread for a while until I've finished as you guys are too quick!

I liked that arc just for the comedy of the characters, especially Yuri!

Posted by: Jester May 31 2022, 09:01 PM

I think Will and Mike (and Will’s brother) are totally pointless now. Will was just awful!

Posted by: JosephStyles May 31 2022, 09:11 PM

(some light spoilers in this post potentially so beware x)

Another really great season (so far), the longer runtimes haven't bothered me too as the pacing is spot on and every plot and character has the perfect breathing space - necessary with a cast so big. Steve and Robin's partnership continues to be excellent and I love Robin and Nancy working together too. Eddie and Argyle are great additions and Jamie Campbell Bower played his part to PERFECTION. The real star was of course Sadie Sink though - episode 4 heart.gif

I'm hoping Mike, Will and Jonathan have a bigger part to play in volume 2, because they were entirely absent from episode 7...! First episode not to feature Mike in the whole run so far interestingly. I actually quite enjoyed their scenes together but it feels like the least essential plot strand so far and they've surely got more planned for them. Joyce, Hopper and Murray felt like a bit of a side plot too, I wonder if it'll tie in more in volume 2? It's very separate to everything else going on. That's not to say it hasn't been entertaining though, Murray's a hoot and Yuri had me in stitches.

Also THERE HASN'T BEEN ENOUGH ERICA

Posted by: Jester May 31 2022, 09:36 PM

Erica is the best I agree. Her, Steve, Dustin and Robin were the highlights of season 3 and they haven’t disappointed again.

Max though - wow!

Posted by: Steve201 May 31 2022, 09:38 PM

Really enjoying it so far (on episode 4 tonight) but seems sad that their lives are all in seperate places for the most part just because they were so close when they were younger but guess it’s like that for everyone in real life, people rarely have 4-5 friends over a long period there’s always people who in the words of Fleetwood Mac go their own way!

Posted by: Jαsє May 31 2022, 11:26 PM

Incredible. Event TV at its finest.

I'm lowkey glad we've got to wait another month for the final two episodes. I don't want the hype and convo to die down; especially since we've had to wait SO long for this season.

Posted by: JosephStyles May 31 2022, 11:53 PM

I agree - it's been so long since season 3 that I'm actually okay to wait another few weeks for the last two episodes. In fact, I'd have quite happily watched them weekly (I could've done that anyway but I don't have the restraint when they're all sat there kink.gif)

Posted by: Jαsє Jun 1 2022, 12:12 AM

I really want Will to tell Mike how he feels but it doesn't look like that's going to happen from the interviews I've seen cheeseblock.png

Same!! I remember leaving a comment on the S4 trailer on Youtube a while back saying I wish they were weekly episodes and the amount of abuse I got was insane laugh.gif

Posted by: -Jay- Jun 1 2022, 01:56 AM

Another incredible season! wub.gif Initially I felt daunted when I saw the episode run times, but each episode had great pacing and I never felt bored. I just love being emersed in the world of Stranger Things. Roll on the next two episodes! cheeseblock.png

I'm intrigued to see if/when each group comes together and how they'll help each other, because there's been a lot of separation. Everything happening with Joyce/Murray/Hopper seemed very much a side plot simply to provide different scenery and some humour/the return of a classic monster... so I wonder what their role will be when they return. I suppose an emotional reunion between Eleven/Hopper will be worked up to.

Posted by: Liаm Jun 1 2022, 01:44 PM

Very good season so far from what I've seen but I do have to say the Joyce/Hopper stuff feels like a side story rather than anything to really care about and Will/Mike are AWFUL, I expect that the Joyce/Hopper stuff will actually tie into the climax of the season though, I trust that everything will tie together but right now it does almost feel like filler, I feel like it would have been a better story arc had Hopper actually died, but I guess the conspiracy theory esque stuff that I know is a huge influence on the show wouldn't be a part of the season then.

I'm only on episode 3, can't wait for 4!!

Bit of trivia - Maya Hawke's (who plays Robyn) parents are Uma Thurman (they look so much alike!) and Ethan Hawke.

Just stopping by to say Episode 4 might just be the best episode of the show ever, my heart was in my mouth for that ending scene and yes, Sadie deserves an Emmy for that. This series really isn't pulling any punches with its horror and I'm totally here for it. Stream Running Up That Hill x

Posted by: Rooney Jun 5 2022, 04:30 PM

Been out a week now so I won't use spoilers, but be warned.

Not much to add that hasn't already been discussed - though it was a brilliant Volume 1 and it really does feel like the type of show these days that would benefit from 1 episode a week rollout. They neded it on a perfect reveal and it ties up Eleven and Venca nicely together. I think for a cast this big the various sub-plots are needed when it has become an ensemble show. Hopper still feels like he has legs of his character ti go, but Mike/Will/Jonathon seem so detatched from the main plot at this point. It was the same for Mike in Season 3 too.

Fantastic to have the show back though and I thought the new additions to the cast were fantastic. Kind of feel like it is set up for someone to die/get trapped in the upside down world for good though as well as the obvious Venca vs Eleven battle that's going to happen in the finale.

Hurry up and get here July 1st cheeseblock.png

Posted by: PeaceMob Jun 7 2022, 09:26 PM

I honestly thought Season 4 would be a letdown, I don't know why. Maybe because it took a while to be released (global pandemic). Instead it's been incredible so far and I am so hyped up for the final two episodes in July.

Vecna is 001, woah what an ending. Poor Eleven, she really is the heart of 'Stranger Things'. The show just gets better and better for me, how is it possible to have so many regular characters and yet do not want a single one of them to be killed off, and the addition of Eddie, he's only been in Season 4 and already he's become one of the fans favourite characters amongst so many great characters to choose from.

Posted by: Popchartfreak Jun 21 2022, 01:59 PM

Up to episode 4, woah! Max - Running Up That Hill, no wonder it's topping the charts!!! wub.gif

A good article - ***Some minor spoilers***

https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2022/jul/01/stranger-things-season-4-finale-review-netflix

Posted by: Chez Wombat Jul 2 2022, 08:47 PM

Before I avoid this thread for another month given my snail pace at watching TV shows (kink.gif), I will just stop by and say based on 1-7, this season is easily the best since S1 and may even better it in some. It's given me pretty much everything I've wanted that we didn't get from the last two seasons, primarily finally more explanation of the Upside Down and a more threatening villain than just a wordless monster (Love Vecna, Jamie Campbell Bower is really great and getting Robert Englund involved is utterly inspired given the Nightmare on Elm Street vibes), some much darker scares and some really excellent character moments where we really see the psychological effects the last three seasons. My only minor complaint is, as mentioned, the Will/Mike stuff is far, far less engaging and all those characters are a bit frustrating to watch. I'm hoping they can tie in a bit better in the finale.

Hope the finale can add to this greatness so far!

Posted by: Steve201 Jul 2 2022, 09:12 PM

I love how every series is an ode to a 80s horror film too!

Posted by: Jαsє Jul 2 2022, 09:56 PM

https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/ustv/a40483679/stranger-things-max-die-season-4/

Totally agree with the above article in regards to Max's 'final moments' mellow.gif That left a real bitter taste in my mouth.

Posted by: dandy* Jul 3 2022, 05:30 PM

We watched the final episodes on Friday. I’m also not sold on the development in spoilers but I’ll wait and see what the final series brings for that character before deciding whether it should have panned out differently or not.

I get slightly frustrated by how they treat Eleven and her powers. It’s annoying how she switches between struggling and then blitzing everything with Vecna, she’s learned how to control her powers now so she should be able to not get stuck by similar problems… and I don’t think she should be able to bring people back to life either.

I also found Eddie’s death frustrating. They gave him a hero style exit but what exactly did he stop?!!! He’d already distracted the bats and basically he just seemed to choose going out into them over making a sensible retreat with Dustin. A shame. LOL at the jock guy dying without any interest what so ever though, just the rift splitting him and whoops he’s gone

Finished this now (spoilers below as it's been out a few weeks now so don't read on if you haven't seen!)

I didn't love the final two episodes as much as the rest of the season, I think 2 and a half hours for the finale was just a bit too much of an overkill, but I appreciate it did allow for all of the characters to have a moment and hand in defeating Vecna (well not really, but still). I've gotta admit, Eddie's death annoyed me a bit just because it was kind of obvious, he hadn't had as much development as the main characters, and it's sad really as he didn't get a chance to get redeemed by the town. I honestly wish they'd have the balls to kill one of the main crew rather than just introduce newer characters just to kill them off a few episodes later, it would leave such a bigger impact, I think it would've had more impact if Max would've died as it would've been a great send-off for her character and compliment to Sadie's amazing performance this season, and given all of the remaining crew more reason to fight. My favourite moment was probably Will's speech to Mike, that was beautifully acted, brought a tear to my eye cry.gif I really hope he's used more next season.

But those minor gripes aside, this season did exceed my expectations a lot, I'd put it only 2nd to S1 and possibly higher than that. I don't see how they can top this with S5, this could've worked as a finale if you take the ending cliffhangers out, but I await to see it!

Posted by: Popchartfreak Aug 4 2022, 08:24 AM

I agree with most of Chez' comments, Eddie was an amazing character and I wish they'd kept him and killed off the less-skilled actors with a moment in the sun as a goodbye. I loved Eddie and Max most of all of the younger cast and they picked on them! Steve is the other great character/actor, and Dustin, Robin, Eleven are essential. The double act of Joyce and Murray was fun and I liked other new characters like the Russian prison guard, the mad pilot, Paul Reiser is always top notch, David Harbour is a fab actor, the main villain was great in or out of make-up, and Argyle was fun. Will/Mike speech also brought a tear to my eye, certainly the under-used characters of the season, and hopefully that'll be a basis for giving them something to do in season 5 and play off, as neither character is as good as the others when it comes to assertiveness, so they might as well try and play off that instead of sidelining them.

I think it's the best season to date, love the 80's music boost it gives, and it's been the scifi show I've enjoyed most out of everything that has been available over 2022, the only other one that comes close is Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, but that's not as dark and is episodic, by and large.

Posted by: olvs Aug 31 2022, 04:17 PM

I just started watching it but it's pretty entertaining

Posted by: shadow2009 Dec 2 2022, 02:57 PM

Okay I watched S1 years ago when it premiered and thought it was alright but didn't check in when the subsequent seasons were released and the only reason I started re-watching was because I was so damn curious as to why Running Up That Hill became so big and figured it must have been an amazing scene to warrant the songs popularity. laugh.gif

I started watching from the start again last month and holy shit. WHAT A SERIES. I didn't fully appreciate how amazing S1 was at the time but rewatching it I was hooked from the start. Winona Ryder absolutely stole the show for me and the kids had such great chemistry and all acted so well that I couldn't believe I gave up on the show last time. Season 2 was a bit of a blur for me (I totally predicted Bob dying though, a bit of a predictable cliche in that he was introduced to keep Joyce and Hopper apart for a little longer and to be an 'easy' death since I knew they wouldn't kill off anyone important) and the Russian stuff in Season 3 was horrible (seriously, so so so so so stupid) but Season 4 was breathtaking. I did not expect it to get so f***ing dark. Those death scenes were GRUESOME.

Lucas is my favourite character so I'm so glad he got a chance to shine in the last episode and Max broke my heart. I didn't think the writers would actually go there and be so graphic with her injuries (I found it quite disturbing when she was crying for help after it totally blind) but I'm glad they showed they were willing to sacrifice some characters after all because it was getting annoying seeing all 500 cast members survive each episode.

Also the Will being gay storyline is breaking my heart. I relate to every single scene so f***ing much. I think Noah is probably the best actor in the show as much as I adore everyone else.

(and Hopper should have died in S3. Him becoming Superman and surviving EVERYTHING and beating up Russian soldiers and escaping on a jet ski was just ridiculous. I'm not here for the slapstick comedy with Murray, Yuri, Argyle and Jonathan either.)
