27 September marked 10 years since the physical release of 'Get Outta My Way', the second single from 'Aphrodite'. The song was originally produced by a host of producers, including Cutfather who previously worked on 'X', with Stuart Price later adding his own stamp to tie in with the rest of the album. With its infectious electro-disco energy and fierce chorus, 'Get Outta My Way' was immediately hailed an album highlight by critics and fans. Commercial success was only moderate across Europe, including the UK where its #12 peak meant it was the first physically-released Kylie single to miss the Top 10 since 'Breathe'. Despite this, it's remained a fan-favourite, still achieving plays in clubs and has appeared on three Kylie tour setlists.

10 years on, what are your thoughts and memories on 'Get Outta My Way'.

Aphrodite was Kylie's last timeline of having bonified hits with Get Outta my Way her last Top 20 hit.
Are Get Outta my Way and Dancing on similar sales totals.

One of her best songs with Top 20 status with many greater songs with both higher and lower chart placements.

INCREDIBLE song, definitely up there as one of my all-time faves from her. Can't believe it's 10 years - I remember spamming it back when it came out! Still sounds great today too wub.gif dance.gif

Brilliant Kylie Minogue song.

It has crossover appeal to many non stans too.

I remember listening to Aphrodite for first time and fell in love with it straight away and had it on repeat ever since.

It virtually goes on every playlist I make.

Video is excellent too and I love her live performances in the USA she did also

Plus got sampled by Alesso and became a hit again

It's one of her best if not THEE best .

It has done well on streaming which is helping get its sales up but it was a big blow when it missed the top 10 a the time, nowadays a number 12 hit would feel like a humongous hit.

If only Kylie could have an 86-57-48-12... single chart climb like it now!

I remember listening to Aphrodite for the first time and instantly loving this one - possibly more than 'All the Lovers'! Absolute banger, full-on energy and lots of sass! wub.gif

I can't believe they messed up the release for it though. It was performed on Alan Carr two weeks after album release and then... nothing for six and a half weeks when the video was released. What were they waiting for? The campaign should have been rolling right after that performance. Kylie could have still done the overseas promo for the song in September as planned. I think the record company were still stuck in the Noughties with how to release singles. Of course, it only went bad to worse when she performed on the X Factor and responded "...soon" as to when 'Better Than Today' was available to buy instead of "you can download it RIGHT NOW".

Anyway, rant over. kink.gif I did love the performances she did for this song:

Incredible song, I love the frenetic energy it has and it's definitely built its status as a real cult classic.

I still maintain the main reason it missed the top 10 was because of it coinciding with the sort of time CD singles were becoming less readily available in shops, and at that point in her career she really relied on those for post-album releases (and I'm pretty sure it's the only reason she got top 10 hits with the likes of 'Chocolate', 'Giving You Up' and 'In My Arms'). But it's built a really healthy overall sales total, which solidifies its status!

Yeah, 'Giving You Up' was only #37 on downloads the week it entered at #6 (new entries by Lemar and Rachel Stevens at #9 and #10 were both higher than Kylie on downloads) and 'In My Arms' was #23 on downloads the week it peaked at #10. 'Get Outta My Way' was #26 on downloads the week it was #12 officially. They clearly thought the physical release would put it in the Top 10, which goes back to me saying they were still approaching things with an early Noughties perspective. If they pushed it as a single early, riding high off the success from 'All the Lovers' and all the fan hype regarding the song, I think it would have had no problem in getting Top 10.

Def not strong enough for lead single, all the lovers was the perfect and only lead single from aphrodite, a complete kylie classic.

I love that Get Outta My Way is top 10 in Kylies most streaming Spotify songs. Approaching the 50,000,000 mark. It made the Vegas set list and I would love to see it on An Audience With .....

No and I know I'm in the minority but 13 years on and it's still just an average song for me.
