20 years on from their debut with "C'est La Vie", and 19 years after their last full studio album, B*Witched are releasing their first album (third overall) of new material in the autumn that they've been working on for the last year to celebrate.

There's a less than flattering article in The Sun on it tomorrow which I won't link to here (bitchy tabloid hack in derisive to 90s pop group shock), but I'm excited to hear this.

I loved them back in the day anyway, and their EP "Champagne or Guinness" that they bought out a few years ago was a pleasant update of their original sound. I reckon if they take the Steps approach they could be onto a winner.

I want to be excited, but I feel the ship has sailed for them and it should've been capitalised more post-Big Reunion.

Aww, I adore their four number 1 hits, particularly "Blame It On The Weatherman" - "C'est La Vie" was always incredibly fun to play when DJing - and also as a customer if it ever came on! Fantastic nostalgia.

I think they may be seen as more novelty than Steps were as "C'est La Vie" is all they're really remembered for. They could go down The Corrs kind of route though. "Blame It On The Weatherman" and "To You I Belong" showed they could have a serious side - like Aqua with "Turn Back Time".

Yeah can't see this working tbh, they were too novelty and no-one remembers them past their first album (or single tbh). If S Club 7 struggled with their tour I really can't see B*Witched making much of an impact. Good luck to them though!

Very unlikely they will have much success. They had a couple of good songs but there were stronger girl bands around at the time like Eternal!

Oh god I wish Eternal would come back with some new music!! With or without Louise.

As for B*Witched, I do like them and I wish they have some success like Steps. But I think they were more a novelty act without ever having a strong fan base.
Their success was quite short lived.
I'd love even if a new album from them charted!

I hope they can get some success but from the stories they are going for a completely new sound which could eliminate what ever fanbase they have. At the time I was so surprised by how quick it all fell apart for them after such a successful first era.

They were on Irish TV last week (I believe it was Xpose) and confirmed they're recording new music for a third album and are booked for gigs/festivals all the way through to next summer.

Yup, seems like it'll be released at midnight:

https://music.apple.com/au/album/hold-on-single/1482952625

Doesn't seem like they've signed to a proper record label and are still on their own B*Witched LLP. A bit confusing considering they've had Jesse Hold On as a single and also another track called Hold On on The Princess Diaries soundtrack.

Not sure about it tbh. Hope it’s not a lead single from an album

Lets hope theyve had some vocal coaching lately - my friend supported them, or least their lead (Aoife? Something with an E) a few years back amd said they were completely off!

Stoked to hear it though, irish styled pop is too rare in mainstream now.
