With Elysium only being 5 years old, it gives me hope that we will eventually get an Electric 'Further Listening' too, which will be amazing!

REM are re-releasing their classic Automatic For The People album soon for a 25th anniversary edition. The bonus tracks are largely live tracks and b-sides that I'm not interested in but it has reminded me how great that album was.

Chaka Khan's 'I Feel for You' has appeared on Amazon with a pre-order date of March 16th 2018 so it looks like we may be getting a new or remastered version of the 1984 album.

The Cure's 'Mixed Up' album from 1990 is being re-released on June 15th with a CD version of the album. The first disc is a 2018 remaster of the first album, disc 2 is some 'lost' remixes from 1982-1990 and disc 3 is full of new remixes done by Robert Smith himself.
A vinyl edition 2LP version is also being released. |

OMG I must get that! I love most of the mixes and the original CD version has a somewhat dubious quality to it.

Yazoo are releasing a celebration of their music entitled Four Pieces on 26th October. Four Pieces stands for the 2 albums, eight remixes and BBC Sessions.
QUOTE Over 35 years since their formation, Yazoo - Vince Clarke and Alison Moyet are still acclaimed as one of the UK’s greatest pop duos.
During their short time together, they made two classic albums ‘Upstairs At Eric’s’ and ‘You And Me Both’, released iconic hit singles ‘Only You’, ‘Don’t Go’ and ‘Nobody’s Diary’ and toured before disbanding in 1983. Their legacy was a sentiment and a sonic style which sent shock waves through the early-80s charts and continues to be heard in the latest pop hits and throughout contemporary electronica. Three Pieces - A Yazoo Compendium features three remastered CDs in a hardback mediabook format with a 32 page booklet containing lyrics and photos. I'm having a relaxing Saturday morning listening my copy of Leftism 22 by Leftfield that arrived yesterday (and it remains fantastic ), couple that with the news this week about OK Computer being remastered and re-released and it has got me thinking what other albums would people like to see given a fresh lease of life and what would you want to see featured on them? This will probably be an unusual choice but I've always wanted a remastered version of the Chorus album by Erasure, coupled with a comprehensive second disc of the b-sides from that era as some of those were as strong as the album itself. I'd also love another update to Violator by Depeche Mode. I have most of the re-issued DM albums but I always found the quality of them to be a bit quiet when compared to other albums I listen to. As for albums and artists that have already done this, I think the best ones I own are the Pet Shop Boys reissues with the second discs of b-sides, alternate and extended versions. They felt really comprehensive and who doesn't love having extended versions eh? OMG they are finally releasing an anniversary deluxe edition of Chorus! Appears to have a release date of Valentine's Day next year but I'm so chuffed! |

Sparks have released a 25th anniversary of Gratuitous Sax as well as a Hits CD covering their whole 45-year career - quite an achievement given the number of labels involved

OMG they are finally releasing an anniversary deluxe edition of Chorus! Appears to have a release date of Valentine's Day next year but I'm so chuffed! Having a Chorus weekend, really really enjoying listening to it all over again. Definitely their best album for me The bonus material is okay, the second disc of b-sides and remixes is nice but I could live without the live disc as it seems to basically be a chopped up version of the concert audio rearranged into the tracklisting of the album. |
