With the semi's for 104 just beginning, I thought it would be interesting to ask - do you skip your own song when listening through the semi's? Do you think listening to your own entry feels like you're tooting your own horn a bit? (because I kinda do but I still do it most of the time anyway x)

I don't skip because it's good see how it stacks up when played in line with the competition. Also it's always nice to hear something familiar in amongst listening to 30-odd songs for the first time ever.

Of course not, why would I skip the best song?
(I generally don't like to skip anything while listening) |

Yeah I like to see how it blends in with the selected running order.

Yeah, I like to hear my own entry in the mix especially if it's a kinda bad semi and I want the relief of a good song

Hell I sometimes get sidetracked listening to my song because I want to listen to it a few times before continuing on.

Years ago, I used to always listen to my own entry to hear what it's like in the mix, like others have mentioned. Nowadays I don't usually bother tbh, unless I'm on plug and we're playing through all the songs.
Ngl sometimes if I don't have a lot of time or am just being a tad lazy, I don't even listen through the whole final and just focus on the songs I don't know, i.e. the ones from the opposite semi. I will still listen to a few from my semi as well tho, just so I can get a feel for where to rank them! |

If it's a song I'm really into in the moment, I'll definitely listen to it. If it's something I just sent in the spur of the moment (see: OHEY), then no.

It really depends. Normally if I’m just doing speed listenthroughs I’ll just listen to everything else bc I’ve already heard my song a ton of times but when it’s on like shuffle on Spotify then it ends up played last. It’s a nice segue into my normal listening patterns.

I guess I am the only one who really opens a thread and click on songs randomly or I do some sort of #11-#15 then #26-#30 and on and on
But to answer your question, I never skip any song and let alone mine |

Yeah I always play mine just to see how it sounds in the midst of everything else tbh, it’s nice to see if my song stands out or gets lost in the semi, or if it has any impakt etc...

No bc it's always the best in the playlist and sometimes you've got to wade through a lot of shit so it's nice to know you've got a pit stop of good music in there somewhere

Definitely not! I want to hear how my song fits in with the line-up and I love everything I send (minus one regret) so I am more than happy to listen to my own song. It can particularly be fab if it follows a run of mediocre songs

I listened to my song this time round and enjoyed listening to it, it is a song I like so I wasn't gonna turn down a listen of a song in the running order

It's always interesting to listen to your own song to both objectively compare it in the running or actually see if there's a song you like better than your own when stacked up against it, so I always do, and the latter does happen a fair bit. And yeah, it can be a relief after a run of shite songs too x

Summary: we all are biased as hell about our own entries and think they're the only good thing in a sea of shite so OF COURSE WE DON'T SKIP THEM
