This is another of my observation threads/me being a chart stan and getting excited
But GUESS WHAT THIS WEEK COULD BE? It'll most probably be the first week for over a year to have more than one new entry in the top 10, which is such a rarity in the current sales/streams climate.
We could even see three or four, with the possibilty of Touch or Oops by Little Mix reaching the top ten.
So my question for you is, is this the best chart week of the year? What's been your favourite chart week of the year? AND will next week be a better week with more potential new entries from The Hospices Choir and Jo Cox's Friends?
The Christmas chart is always the best of the year for me, so Friday 23rd one this year.
The one SOTME went #1
Christmas chart for me!
It's not just about NEs for me but nice climbers for songs growing in popularity as they are discovered by more people hence why I'm a fan of OAOS - it produces the best songs at the top!
~ any week that One Dance was #1
~ the week where Tilted got a chart play (easily the best shock chart moment of the year)
The one where Justin took over the entire Top 3
The week there were 5 David Bowie songs in the top 25.
My favourite week would be either:
- When One Dance was knocked from the top spot
- When SOTME went straight in at number 1
This week just got even better Louis Tomlinson is releasing - it could be FOUR new entries in the top 10!
Christmas chart weeks are usually boring these days due to predictable X factor being no1 and a slush of Christmas songs reentering. It's always the same songs reentering too. Why can't we have a new original Christmas song doing well? It doesn't happen very often.
I think this year the race for Xmas #1 is very open
There are two which stand out for me this year:
- The week where 7 Years, Fast Car, Ex's & Oh's etc entered (but mainly 7 Years), although that was marred slightly by Get Ugly & Work entering as well
- The Week where Tom Odell, The Neales, The Stone Roses 'Beautiful Thing', This One's For You & Hotter Than Hell entered (but then again, One Dance was at #1 then)
