Both are good songs, it's just that "BO$$" is much more distinctive. This could've been sung by any of the pop girls really.

Love this! I echo previous comments that it's not as outside the box as Bo$$ but I'm a sucker for generic girlband pop.

BO$$ was more unique but this is more instant, BO$$ took a whole to properly grow with me and I don't think it was ever going to be a hit unfortunately. This is quite generic and I agree with the Demi comparisons - I could so hear her singing this! I don't think this will be a Uk either personally but we'll see, it's catchy and a great little pop track so fingers crossed! I do really like it though after a few listens.

Their signed to Syco so i'm not surprised to see them performing on x-factor.
I don't think 'Sledgehammer' will do much but it should provide them with a top 20 hit now that they've managed to gain an x factor slot!

I'm very surprised at that, they are barely known here. X Factor UK has a knack of only featuring well established acts as guests so there'll be a lot of head scratching when these girls are announced/perform.
However I really like this song and it is a bit of a curve ball so I myself am happy with this!

The way the girls are tweeting about it appears to be X-Factor. It's strange as it's a week or two before the final and they are essentially having a brand new artist perform; surely the slot would be reserved for someone a bit more established?

X-Factor have a thing about supporting their former contestants - which is slightly odd given 5H were on the American show? Their VT will probably be 100 million views on Youtube, one VMA and x amount of global sales

It makes sense I think. It's a bit like when Miley Cyrus was given a push during the 2008 series. The performance will undoubtedly be on the Saturday night to drag that show out more (like Miley's was). I'm yet to hear the song but I got tired of "BO$$" very quickly (and that was only on personal listens!) so this had better be a much stronger song.

I found them incredibly irritating on X-Factor based on the videos I've seen. So glad they're steering away from what they were like then!

I'm glad they're getting less predictable guest slots than the ones that have been appearing throughout the series so far.
If this goes well, hopefully it'll encourage them to use it as a 'launch pad' for other artists in the future.
(Although yes, I am acutely aware of the X-Factor USA connection...)

Yeah from left to right as we are looking it goes Dinah, Ally, Camila, Lauren and Normani. Camila is the one that sounds quite similar to Demi I think, at least on studio recordings.

Very mixed views; I dislike AGAIN how Camila appears to be the centre of attention, some of their timing for the "sledgehammer" hand actions are a bit out of sync and the lighting in places makes it hard to tell which girl is which when they're on the frame apart from that it's a nice concept, they look amazing and it's great to see they've moved away from the cutesy image they had with Miss Movin' On/Me & My Girls

When I seen the video my first thought was 'Not Giving Up'. The video is so poor, out of sync and just incredibly basic. You would think that 'Sledgehammer' would have had a good enough video as it's their first song in the United Kingdom and it's leading the album.

Completely the correct decision, was hoping they would do that. BO$$ sets them apart from everyone else right now and has a far stronger idenity than this. This, although catchy, is a lot more non-descript. Plus with all the choreography and attitude, they would slay an X Factor performance of it.

At this point I don't understand how that could be true, given that 'Sledgehammer' is still available to pre-order and has been for a while, whereas 'Bo$$' isn't up for pre-order. If I were them I'd just go with 'Sledgehammer' and also release an EP which included 'Bo$$'.

Sledgehammer is 100% the right single to lead with.. They even did UK press interviews talking about Sledgehammer.

'Bo$$' has been getting a couple of spins on MTV HITS this morning and was played on the fresh hits and new videos. I can't believe they are actually going to release 'bo$$' which pre-order had been deleted over a track that currently has a pre-order on iTunes!

Bo$$ impacted UK television months ago before the release was suddenly cancelled.
The pre-order had done rather well with it being top 1500 on iTunes for a fair amount but 'Sledgehammer' has done rather poor on pre-orders. I expect 'Bo$$' to miss the top 30.

I'm thinking this is actually going to be a big impact for them. 99% of the UK don't know who they are yet and 'Bo$$' isn't really that much different to 'Move' by Little Mix and that turned out to be a bigger hit than people thought it would be! Either way, I do think FH will be pretty big!

I'm not really sure which would be better if I'm honest I love both, but I prefer Sledgehammer. It's quite generic and like something the Saturdays would release maybe, so it might not do too well but it's very catchy and radio freindly. BO$$ would either flop or be fairly big I think. It's more unique though, it's very sexy and sassy, imbued with confidence and is a bit of an anthem.
It seems to be BO$$ though! I guess we'll see.

I 100% think they should push this in the UK. I was watching some live performances of Bo$$ and I don't think the UK will take too kindly to the slutty performance of it. Also the Sledgehammer pre-order has been taken down. Just looked on my pre-orders as I couldn't see it in the store. It's been replaced again by Bo$$ with Sledgehammer as the b-track.

Can't believe they're pushing Bo$$! As much as I love it I for some reason cant see the x-Factor audience clicking with it, hope I am proven wrong but cant see it going any higher than the low end of the top 40.

I much prefer Bo$$ as a song to Sledgehammer but I think Sledgehammer is probably a lot more suited to the UK market than Bo$$.

Whoever decided this is STUPID. That's a fact.
'Sledgehammer' has more obvious hit potential, 'Bo$$' may not be as "generic" but it is a hot mess and like someone said some of the terms they use are not even relevant in the UK.

Overlooking the wannabe Miley Cyrus song title, this song really is forgettable. They need to work on a distinct sound in order to properly break through. 'Bo$$' just screamed carbon copy of Little Mix's 'Salute' while this song is just throwaway girl-group pop which won't inspire radio stations to playlist them. Speaking of Little Mix, they've done very well to create their own sound - even if it is a throwback to Destiny's Child slightly - but they've brought the 90s Pop/R&B back to the public consciousness. Fifth Harmony have to come up with a defining sound if they actually want any kind of future in the music industry. 'Sledgehammer' is like a reject from a Danity Kane album.

I don't know how you can judge their sound based on one EP and two singles from their upcoming album? Little Mix have two albums and a third on the way, yes they've discovered their sound because they've released enough material to find their niche.

An artist's first couple of singles should be a good representation of what they're about and what their album will sound like. It'd be odd if 5H's debut album is a departure from these two singles.

They've said the sound will be quite eclectic so by all means wait until they have an album because sometimes singles don't represent the album entirely. Look at the sats for example!
