I'd rather they be consistent on the issue tbh, 3 songs per artist maximum no matter the circumstances is better than the OCC picking and choosing when to relax the rules and when to strictly enforce them.

I think "In The End" was the 4th single from the "Hybrid Theory" album so by then a lot of people would have bought the album instead, if streaming was around back then, it's possible that it might have peaked higher. I grew up listening to Linkin Park, they were HUGE back in the day, when I was at school I just remember everyone was listening to the "Hybrid Theory" album. the Linkin Park effect on iTunes! has been much much bigger than I expected... by comparison there was barely any effect when Chris Cornell died... and let's not forget the small effect for George Michael, only 1 song going top 10, Careless Whisper peaking at #10 for a couple hours

Still, a huge achievement for LP, still in shock. Edit: someone beat me to it

I guess Linkin Park were more currently relevant? They just completed a UK tour and their new album was released 8 weeks ago. |

'Castle of Glass' now top 100
 I think his death has had much more of an impact due to Linkin Park being many of this generations "first". Whether that's first metal group they got into, first album they ever brought and the fact their songs stand alone as genuine millenial classics. He was literally the voice of a generation. They managed to stay relevant even with changing their sound a couple of times. |

no one knows for sure until we see it on their website, but I imagine it'll be credited to the Spanglish remix (Sean Paul/Matt Terry) or to just Enrique.

What about Green Day? They were certainly the biggest band of my childhood anyway, if Billy Joe Armstrong were to pass that'd be a huge upset to many I imagine.

Ah those were the good old chart days of the held back release. Unlike now when "Donda low, donda low, donda low, I said bum bum and then we bum bum" or whatever it is that Daddy Yankee says can get a song to #1 for a tediously long amount of time. The chart looked so much fresher back then compared to now. |
