Imagine taking one thing that you didn’t like and then applying it to everyone.

Most viewers won’t care too much about the Timeless Child stuff. I don’t like it either but I’m happy to go along with it. It’s not exactly overshadowing anything else that’s going on or getting in the way of the plots so I just don’t see what there is to be upset about. The image of you tuning in and tuning out within in minutes because they made a tiny mention of a plot you hated is actually so comical, I’m laughing out loud.

My dad has been watching since 1963 and has actually been really enjoying this series so far. He exactly the kind of person that would be painted as tuning out for various reasons and yet he hasn’t.

Honestly these thread are life giving right now. Seeing people disgusted at the Doctor clubbing, mention being adopted or the Tardis being parked in the middle of the road. I can’t wait to see what slight detail will make someone cancel the show next week!

The reason people have switched off is Chibnall. The specials did ... well enough, but still not anywhere near what Tennant usually got, an snowhere near what you would expect him to get!! The figures then fell back to Chibnall levels after Tennant, and it's because RTD won't just RETCON IT!!! There can be no future for rhis show until the Timeless Child nonsense is gone, as it removes any and all drama and suspense. The Doctor is now invincible. What happens? Combine that plus Disney cheese and you have 0 tension, zilch, gone, and then add in the massive slabs of cheese to keep it family friendly fantasy, plus the fact that RTD decided to remove the character's trauma (terrible decision) annnd there's real reason to watch. This all comes down to Chibnall. I should have stopped watching two epiaodes in of 13, as I could see how shit Chibnall was, but I kept givinf hima chance, as I wanted a female doctoe for years. Also, the fanbase was so so angry with the timeless child that a lot stopped watching , and they won't be back till he's brave enough to retcon it. Havw theMaster be the timeless child. Done! Chibnall ruined doctor who. That's what's happened.

You have got to be trolling right now, surely? laugh.gif The Timeless Child storyline (while I've never been a massive fan of it) adds suspense and mystery to the Doctor's story more than anything.

Personally I'm quite alright with the Timeless Child storyline being casually mentioned as it has been so far, and I think it's only feeling like RTD is giving it more attention than it deserves because it ties in with Ruby's story too, but I think once Ruby's story is complete or at least most of the mystery around it is dealt with there won't be much more reason to keep referencing the Timeless Child and RTD can steer the show in its next direction.

What has happened to show that the storyline has made the Doctor an invincible being, though? (aside: happy to continue this conversation with you, but can you use the general Doctor Who thread for discussion like this Michael? I'm aware that this thread for Boom hasn't been about Boom itself for a while now kink.gif)

Just watched Boom; a massive improvement over the first 2 episodes. Some slight niggles but it will be interesting to see where all the various arcs are heading; The snow, Susan Twist, Ruby's birth etc.

Ncuti was fantastic throughout the ep - and all being done whilst basically just standing still!

Hopefully next week keeps things up

This episode was easily the best of the three so far. It was also the one that relied most heavily on a good script rather than Disney-financed special effects.

Doctor Who never ever ever ever evee goes clubbing. Ever!!! Terrible writing, and it links back to RTD divesting him of his past TRAUMA, when trauma is what makes a character!!! It's a major thing and more people should be calling this out. This, alongside the Dinosaurs on a Spaceship resolution (by Chibnall!!!!!) Are the two utter WORST characterisations of the Doctor. Both instances are totally out of character, jump the shark moments, and should be removed from canon. Besides, let's humour rtd and disney for a second... If the Doctor WERE to go clubbing, and he would never... why choose a random modern day London club? Why not go to, um, the swinging 60s, 1999 turn of the millennium, the eaely 2000s rave scene in Spain, or the huge clubs in usa, or Woodstock etc? He has a TIME MACHINE!!!! Teeeerrible writing in every which way.

The Doctor going clubbing once ever needs to be removed from canon?

At this point, I know it’s not the show that’s jumped the shark…

Because the complaint keeps coming up...

The history of Doctor Who and nightclubs - https://tardis.fandom.com/wiki/Nightclub

In essence, multiple Doctors have visited nightclubs in the audiobooks which are generally accepted among Whovians as canon

Best script in yonks. Stephen Moffat easily the best script writer the show has ever had, he understands drama and character and pacing and dialogue and plotting - he rewrote the first version. This Doctor is still ridiculously impulsive - but given this is Moffat, there must be something down the line that will address this because forgetting about all that has gone before (and yes that means keeping everyone as safe as possible, bystanders and companions and self and all) and blundering in is not really a good look for a character that's thought to be millions of years old (and yes I'm aware Tom Baker stepped on a landmine in one episode, once is forgivable, twice is making a habit of it, but then it's not "real" is it?). Oh, and the ending message, that "love is all that matters if you die" as if it is in some way a comfort or palliative to loss and as a contrast to "pawns of Capitalism taking advantage of Faith" is a bit dubious given usually it's Power that is behind subversion not those making money as a by-product of it. But at least it provokes an intelligent discussion as opposed to ridicule....

Come back some more Stephen, please!
