The Saturdays' Una Healy teases a reunion could be happening in 2019

Remember that girl group before Little Mix? They were called The Saturdays and they released some songs, and then they did some reality TV stuff after going on 'hiatus' in 2014.

Well, one of the girls from the group, Una Healy, has teased a potential reunion.

"I talk to the girls all the time and we say we'll probably do a reunion," she told Celebs Now. "If I was to call it – I'd love to do it and I know a couple of the others are really keen as well – it would be at least two years away."

She also opened up about fellow bandmate Mollie King, who is now dancing around on Strictly Come Dancing.

"Mollie's doing so brilliantly, I'm so proud of her. She deserves to be in the final – she's up there with the best of them," said Una.

"She's loving it. It's quite a challenge for her as people assume that because she's come from a performing background [she would find it easier], but she's learning all the time. She's not big-headed at all.

Speaking of Mollie, she echoed Una's sentiments recently when she said: "There could be another Saturdays single in a couple of years."

And it looks like all the old pop bands are at it, as Blue's Simon Webbe recently said he's reuniting with fellow members Lee Ryan, Duncan James and Antony Costa to make new music.

"We're in the studio – we can't give an exact date – but we are in the studio recording new music!" he recently revealed.

2019? People have a hard time as it is in 2017 remembering who they are!

I’m more excited that Blue are recording more music!! heart.gif w00t.gif yahoo.gif cheer.gif wub.gif

Probably two years away because that gives enough time to allow babies and more singles to be released from Mollie/Una/Vanessa solo ventures. They won't chart again but I'd be here for new music anytime.

It's ridiculous how this has become a bit of a running joke isn't it laugh.gif should have released this just before 30 Days.

Basically. Una will most likely release a second album next year and the rest of them are busy for the moment, so 2019 makes sense.

I have always seen them very likely to follow Blue's example and release self-funded music and making it profitable with endorsements. They are doing a good job at keeping a decent presence in the media, and their Spotify plays are really good.

Una is most definitely going to get the most number of tracks, singles or albums out. Decca seem to have pushed her more than I expected with two singles, featuring on tracks and of course, her album seeing the time of day!

I do think they should go down the Blue route, or even McFly as earlier comparisons around 2014/15 with smaller shows for more dedicated fans.

Posted by: P@ul 24th October 2017, 08:26 PM

I think it's clear that Una, Mollie and possibly Frankie are the three who would definitely be up for it with the other two less enthusiastic.

Posted by: SeanmanjiGrey 24th October 2017, 08:58 PM

Paul!!!!! Welcome back stranger! cheer.gif

You’re probably right although financially I reckon Rochelle wouldn’t need it as much due to her evergrowing ventures and endorsements.

A reunion would be so interesting now that they have developed their individual styles. It would be more like five independent women performing together as opposed to a manufactured pop group.

Exactly! That's why I always find band reunions so interesting, you start seeing them each as individual artists in a kind of Super-Group!

Mollie would so be the new face of the group, she and Una have easily had the most exposure since the hiatus. I feel Rochelle at the moment is just a continuation as it's nothing new with her presenting and radio stuff.

Posted by: Juliano 27th October 2017, 09:01 AM

Had a dream last night this happened, so had to check here to see if my psychic powers are working for me. laugh.gif

It’s a sign *.*

I wouldn’t be surprised if this so called discussion happened back when they got together for Mollies birthday.

Posted by: DoggySwami 31st October 2017, 01:49 PM

If they do come back with more music apart from a single, I would love them to revisit the R&B sound Vanessa has been doing and Una's acoustic pop. Although I bet their comeback single would be a pop banger to satisfy fans.

Posted by: (Zach) 1st November 2017, 01:32 AM

The Saturdays going in either of those directions musically would be an absolute disaster. Something with an R&B tinge could work, but they will forever be considered a pure pop/dance act. If/when they do come back they'll need something very trendy and "of the moment" to make a splash sadly.

Posted by: Juliano 1st November 2017, 05:22 PM

I hope whatever it is, it actually makes a big splash! They need to find a hit, something similar to what Xenomania is doing at the moment is just not going to cut it or so prove me wrong.

I do have a feeling that a comeback would only mean a single though for some reason, I would DREAM to see another album though with just killer pop tunes maybe with a bit of a dancey/R&B edge to some of the tracks. They know what the fans want. A second Platinum album is possible ladies!

I was with you until that last sentence! Silver yes, but don't see them ever managing anything more.

I doubt any album would ever make a ripple. Single on the other-hand would fare similarly to WAYWF me thinks.

No it wouldn't. A single at this point would probably miss the top 100 or scrape in at about #90.

Think you’re being too critical - their solo ventures have ended up there but doesn’t mean the group will fare same.

The Saturdays 'never discuss reuniting'

The Saturdays never discuss getting back together when they see one another.

The 'Issues' hitmakers have been on indefinite hiatus since 2014 and Una Healy has admitted the decision on when to end their self-imposed break has become a "taboo" subject between herself, Rochelle Humes, Frankie Bridge, Vanessa White and Mollie King because they're all so busy with other things.

She said: "I hope there will be [a reunion].

"I'd certainly like to be part of it and hope it would be all five of us.

"I don't know how the others feel because we never bring it up.

"We chat about everything else, but it's a bit of a taboo subject for us because it's not on the cards.

"Everyone is busy doing something else and It requires commitment from everyone and I don't think everyone is ready for that just yet."

But the 36-year-old singer - who has children Aoife, six, and Tadhg, three, with husband Ben Foden - doesn't get to see the rest of the band very often these days.

Una explained that because she doesn't live near to any of the other girls, it's become increasingly difficult for them to get together.

She said to New! magazine: "I'm living in Northampton and I haven't seen them in a while now. But when we do see each other, it's like we've never been apart."

The 'Never See Me Cry' singer also insists she doesn't feel pressure to do better than her bandmates in her solo efforts and there's no competitiveness between them.

Asked if she feels under pressure to be most successful, Una said: "Absolutely not! People almost put you under pressure when they ask that.

"[Are we in competition?] No, we're five individuals who support each other."

Rochelle has confirmed the girls have officially called it a day.

I think Joe is absolutely right, I cannot see how a Saturdays single in this day and age would do anything else.

I suppose it's good that they've finally confirmed what we've all known for years now.

With album sales as they are I think they could get a top 10 there.

See whereas I'm somewhere between these two posts - I don't think they'd ever release an album which would do that well but singles with digital downloads/physicals, I don't see why they wouldn't go top 100, even a low top 100.

Mollie King as a solo act managed to sell 6k-ish so I'm sure The Sats could do the same, and they could get a top 75 single with ACR/150:1 chart ratio!! With you needing barely 4k to get into the top 10 considering they still have a loyal fanbase they'd probably safely do that (then plummet the next week), maybe slightly more as the focus would be on the album I think.

I doubt they'll ever release an album again though so it's a bit of a moot point kink.gif

devastated, guess forever really is over sad.gif

Posted by: Jay ☆ 16th April 2018, 12:21 PM

Suppose it's only confirming what was fairly obvious for quite a while. I'm just amazed it's already coming up to 4 years since their last single! That time has flown by! drama.gif

It would be nice if they at least got together at some point in the summer for a meet up / Instagram photo, to mark 10 years since they first released music.

(I guess this topic title should be edited to something less hopeful sounding kink.gif cry.gif )

I read a new Mollie article the other day. Can’t find it now but she basically said a reunion isn’t happening in the next few years. Maybe they will reunite for the 10th anniversary of What About Us going to number 1?

while rochelle is making waves on tv you can rule her out of anything saturdays related. she’ll never do it.

Let us be real, Mollie is bossing the solo game more between her and Rochelle. Totes the dark horse of the group.

I think shes already a household name for the various shows shes been doing like Ninja Warrior etc but shes definitely got more TV exposure than Mollie whose more radio and endorsement I'd say with the odd TV slot here and there.

Recently had "What About Us" pop up when listening to a playlist and forgot how many bops they had. "Ego"/"Higher"/"Up"/"Issues"/"All Fired Up"/"Forever Is Over"/"What Is Love"/"Missing you"/"Just Can't Get Enough".... I really hope they reform and produce more music at some point!

The thing that surprises me the most about their music is that a lot of it hasn't aged too badly. 'Higher' still sounds fresh and it would still perform well if it was to be released tomorrow. *.*

Posted by: Jordan Lee 26th February 2019, 01:44 AM

I think their style of songs would mean they’d have a lot lower peaks I’d say if they debuted in 2018 but released exactly the same songs.

High on sales but streaming would hammer them.

Of their tracks though how many were released during OA/OS? Was it just What Are You Waiting For?

Aside from What About Us as well their peaks and highest selling stuff is quite opposite which is unusual but I always found that interesting of them. I still kinda wish that they got a number one before What About Us though as I really don’t think that’s their best track.

I think they were good for a time but they lacked a little something what bands like Girls Aloud, Sugababes (1.0 and 2.0) Little Mix and The Spice Girls had.

A reunion I couldn’t see working I think they need more time away before there’s enough demand.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 26th February 2019, 12:40 PM

Their only OA/OS styled release was 'Notorious'.

When I think about it, they did so well to survive that many bumps in the road before 2013 hit.
