I chose 2011 because it was probably the year with the most fun pop/dance followed by 2010.

2010 and 2011 kind of blur into one for me but I'm going to say 2011.
2014, 2016 and 2017 all stand out too in big ways for various reasons. 2019 is probably the worst unfortunately, I also don't remember a huge amount from 2015 |

2018 for music in general.
2013 for chart music. |

2014 full of so many amazing tracks, both in the charts and outside!

For a large part i think it has been a bad decade for music but there were some highs.
I would go for early part of the decade as o enjoy the huge success of Adele. In later part of the decade i enjoy the success of Kylie. |

I think 2013 was my favourite: so many great mainstream tracks and a pretty wide variety of genres represented in the chart, as well as a lot of great underground music that year too - 2014 was the last year in which I shared a personal chart No1 with the official chart.

2013 - fantastic dance revival, many being inspired by the 90s. Followed closely by 2014. Both great years.

For the purposes of this poll being in the chart forum, 2013. I think this year has been up there, but chart music has been almost universally shite for the last 5 years.

2014 to 2016 were all stellar but in terms of chart music I'd have to go for 2014 with 2015 very close behind, the amount of fab summery dance and range of music in the charts was by far the best.

gotta love that out of 53 people still no one has chosen 2019, it really has been a poor year in the chart.

Pretty sure a lot of people said 2011 was awful back in 2011. Time inherently makes music sound better as we associate (usually happy) memories with it.
I guarantee in 2029 everyone will say music was (relatively speaking) amazing in 2019. |

It was tough to choose between 2012 & 2016 for me. I feel like these were incredibly strong and solid years for pop in general + 2012 gave me my fave song of all time...
But I voted 2016. Looking at my Spotify Wrapped from that year and ALL WERE BANGERS! (Plus we got 'Glory' that year ) |

Am I the only one who really struggles to answer questions like this? I don't really remember which songs are from which years (I'd struggle to name the year of release of a song let alone the other way around) so I'd have to do some research to come up with an answer to this.

That really surprises me! I thought you'd be good with stuff like that. I'm usually pretty good at placing when a song was big and naming loads of hits from a particular time, certainly as far as this decade is concerned anyway! |

I actually found it really hard for this decade and had to check a few facts but for decades further back I find it easier due to the age.
This decade from 2014 onward the dance/grime music all sounds so similar. |
