The 13 remaining girls face an improv a live acting in one take challenge, 'RDR Live'.

The producers continue to push 'RDR' as if literally every fan publication hasn't used 'RPDR' for fifteen years...

(Erm this was not an improv challenge gurl)

I’m really hating this season so far. And this challenge especially… ooooh CHILE horrible. Who wrote this garbage?!

Plane Jane at the top with that (once again!) Jimbo all stars impersonation. So far not a lot of great ideas, just reusing the old material. I would probably forgive Jimbo if she had that attitude but Ms Jane needs to work a liiiitle bit harder to even play the role of Jimbo’s shadow. Bye

Mhya is just dead air, how was she cast at all? Are they saving her for the lip sync episode? If so, whyyyy. I DONT GET IT.

The drama is already becoming so repetitive and the other feuds are just so terribly underwhelming.

Q finishing 2nd once again lmao sadge her brick was incredible.
Geneva didn’t deserve the bottom, her delivery was so funny and I got what she was going for. Also it seems rigged, like who even knows or cares about whether or not this senator’s impersonation was close to the original. Just a stupid excuse to get her to lip sync.

I love Plasma though, she definitely was the funniest this week and deserved to win.

All in all it’s one of the worst challenges in drag race herstory for me with recycled jokes and zero fresh ideas (oh, deck service, we haven’t seen this on drag race just last year played so much better by Jimbo and Jessica..)

It looked like it was going to be from the description and the preview! Sorry but I need to post these in advance of the ep to provide a space for y'all to discuss xo

I really don’t think it was Mirage’s time to be on the show tbh, she is such a fierce performer but I don’t think she has the confidence in all the other skills you need to do on the show, that will probably coke with opportunities she has after the show and a bit of a glow up I’m sure. But you need to be more than a lipsyncer/dancer on the show and she wasn’t ready for that. I liked her but I have to say I don’t quite see the mass hype the fans have given, kind of agog at the reaction her elimination has gotten! It was devastating to see her so upset about it though and the other queens were clearly emotional about it too.

I also don’t think Mhi’ya was THAT bad, the runway wasn’t great but she at least tried with her role and I think she took on board criticisms as she wasn’t as reserved with the challenge, even if she went too far the other way. I feel like Dawn and Morphine for example did worse in the challenge, I honestly can’t remember Morphine and Dawn just kind of delivered the lines and that’s it.

I kiiind of agreed with the tops this week but I do think Plane was giving exactly what’s expected and definitely was just Jimbo from AS8, she is heavily typecast I feel and is relying on the same few things. She doesn’t have the unique point of view and bizarrely wonderful eye for looks that Jimbo has, so it just comes across as tired comedy that we’ve seen before. Especially when she puts herself in a sketc that was done less than a year ago on another season, and far better! Idk I think she definitely has it in her to be funny but I’m not amused by the same few cliches on loop. I think as it was filmed during a writers strike they maybe just reused RDR Live (right down to some similar sketch ideas) and that’s why the parts were so awful, but idk if this cast is the best comedy cast, we’ll see when it comes to something like Snatch Game or a branding/political challenge and they have more control.

Dawn was kind of rotted this episode and the preview for next week, stirring the pot and fanning the flames, always there when there’s drama, it’s somewhat amusing but I think it will get old quick. She’s not really giving what I expected tbh, her runways haven’t been thaaaat great and I thought she would be someone who always had me excited to see what she would wear.

That episode Geri.png

Every episode Plasma just gets more and more unbearable. Was she good in the challenge? Sure. Winner? I don't think. Would be happy never to see RDR Live return though, nobody really did amazing. Like Liam said, Dawn just kind of said what she needed to said and that was it? Was disappointed by her. No oomph to her part whatsoever, and her and Amanda claiming they had so much chemistry together so just HAD to be in the same team - where did that go when it came to actually doing it? unsure.gif

Well, that was certainly an episode that aired.

Plasma was really the only one who delivered anything good to me. Plane Jane again, probably was 2nd best, but felt (as many have said) like another Jimbo knockoff. I'm under the impression S16 was filming while AS8 aired though so I'll put it down to coincidence on this one. I can't say that Plasma is very likeable but she's almost so unbearable that it doubles back and becomes comedic. Even less self awareness of how uppity and musical theatre annoying she is than Jan laugh.gif

I felt sad to see Mirage go as I thought she seemed one of the more interesting queens, but can't argue any of the results that went down. Never nice to see that level of panic attack though.

Best part of the episode though? Mhiya's Cher impression, actual laugh out loud moment. Probably the only one tbf.

For me clear tops; Plasma, Amanda, Plane. Sapphira very close too. I don't like Plane or Plasma but they both did well here. I thought deadpan was the way to go for some of these sketches. Although tbh I don't find most of the small bits of SNL I've seen funny anyway.

Shame for Mirage but she cooked her own goose by not knowing the somg.

Yeah this started filming pretty much the week or week before AS8 aired, so I think the producers just reused what they had from AS8 due to the writers’ strike, but to not even try and have a different type of character in that role…. Like idk it could have been someone deadpan and really serious as if they don’t realise the puns, instead of deadass the same character. Jane probably shouldn’t have gone for another week of being within her wheelhouse, but then Plasma did the same and killed it. When they’re given such rehashed characters, unfunny sketches, the queens can only do so much with it. I kinda wish they had done an improv where the queens can make their own character but I guess that could have been even more disastrous with this cast as it seems comedy is not their strength laugh.gif

I think they already had the improv challenge planned hence this lazy episode.

And yeah I also started researching after writing my comment and saw that AS8 aired after this started filming. Apparently Jane was just inspired by the similar SNL sketches, and so was Jimbo. But the timing is really coincidental. Plus the Schtink Finger/Burger Finger and the big breast plates. Morphine and Jane being ‘sisters’ and the connection to Kandy who’s friends with Jimbo… I’m just a tiny bit suspicious lol

Very true, I fail to see how the girls would do *much* worse laugh.gif

Yeah I think she is probably somewhat inspired by Jimbo anyway and it doesn’t help that she did the same RDR Live character. I think it being a writers strike they probably cobbled together whatever with what they had, right down to presumably a virtuosity identical character description. Megami’s I feel could have come from the same character description as Jessica’s too and they just changed it to decking instead of a gardening company. I get that it was probably hard with the writers strike but surely there are better ideas for s challenge than copying something from the season you filmed last before this one!

Here’s to the improv challenge being the true crime thing again laugh.gif I feel like maybe we get Daytona Wind 3 as well actually.
