Not unexpected given what we knew, but extremely sad news nonetheless sad.gif Such an awful way to go and at such a young age as well, she was always a real standout in the group even if she wasn't the most prominent vocalist and could've had so much more ahead of her. RIP and thoughts with her friends and family.

Absolutely devastated. She was always such a charasmatic star in every sense of the word. So joyful even at times where she was struggling, such a pleasure to watch and full of such energy. To think she is only 39 and for things to change around so quickly makes me feel sick, I just am at a loss for words. I love her so much from her days in Popstars to Girls Aloud to Celebrity Big Brother - an absolute ICON. She will never ever be forgotten.

I remember thinking she came across SO WELL on Off The Record. Just full of fun and life - the one you want to party with the most. She always seemed to appreciate every aspect of her career and seemed like such a nice person.

I'm going to try listen to The Promise now.

RIP Sarah Harding.

EDIT - Oh God, when it's updated on Wikipedia it feels real. :'(

Even if someone has an illness it’s still a shock when they pass away. So very sad. RIP Sarah 💔

Awful news cry.gif

She’s definitely going to be remembered. She was such a source of fun and she seemed like an all around fighter and a real laugh as well.

Like others have said it’s shocking but it’s awful we knew this day would come. She’s definitely going to leave a huge legacy behind however heart.gif really hope all the girls pull together and support one another and of course I hope Sarah’s family are all well supported too.

This is one of those stories of a passing where you feel like you actually knew the celebrity. As I’ve followed her and the other girls since I was like 7 it’s like you’ve grown up with them and we’ve watched her grow as well from a girl into a woman.

an absolute stockport legend I feel rly sad about this one

my mum had breast cancer so I've been looking for news about her / following her story like nothin else so to hear she's died, especially at such a young age is devastating

it's one of those deaths where it hits you most when you literally grew up with them in your life / the soundtrack to nights out and happy memories

R.I.P. Sarah xxx

Poor thing. I hope to god she was able to get some enjoyment out of this last year, what a horrible time to go after lockdown and everything.

Feeling a bit speechless tbh. Hope already that no-one pressures the other members to do anything re this.

After reading her autobiography this year, this really does hurt so hard. I’ve been sat crying since the news was announced. I’m just glad she isn’t in pain anymore - from her book it was clear that she was really struggling every day with the horrible way the disease was attacking her body, and although Sarah was the biggest fighter, even she knew there was no way out of this one which was heartbreaking. I’m also so grateful that she seemed to have felt the love over the last year for her. The fans really rallied around her like nothing else and I’m so glad that the fanbase had the chance to show her how appreciated she was before she left. Miss you already Sarah x

Absolutely devastating sad.gif She did so much for the music industry and GA had some bangers even if I wasn't necessarily a big fan overall.. it feels so surreal when you grew up listening to them and add to that how young she still was sad.gif Rest in Peace Sarah </3

Absolutely heartbreaking and I'm saddened by this. Her poor family and friends. She was part of arguably one of the great female groups.

RIP Sarah.

I cannot say I’ve followed the story anywhere near as much as most of the people in this thread, but I do remember reading about her and choosing not to go through with treatment for the cancer and enjoy what time she had left. 39 is absolutely no age to go at whatsoever so my heart goes out to her family. Cancer is such a bitch, ruins so many lives way too early.
