 Performances are done, everyone's had a fantastic time minus a couple of near diplomatic incidents, the delegations have (for the most part) submitted their votes, and now we come to the big reveal of who sent what. And the result of the contest. I'm eagerly awaiting the reactions to these reveals, don't let me down there. Results will be made available with full scoreboards, I've had the time to do that now I've delayed it by a day to get more live reactions. I will put that in with the caveat that because during the results I am changing the names of the countries to the song they sent as their votes are revealed it's entirely possible I've misplaced a vote or two as for each country I have two entries in mind that they were 'responsible' for, this was especially hard when people voted without the song names  . I've tried my best to be as accurate as I can and I've noticed a few mistakes that I've corrected but I'd be surprised if I was mistake-free so keep an eye out for those. Final scoreboard will be accurate though.Results will start at some point during this afternoon whenever I have a good audience ready. |

If you want any proof that I didn’t fix the draw, here it is. I could have used my backup country clause and searched out a PRoJ artist but with the people assigned Medhelnia and Aelandor doing very well and not using their backup countries (for the record: Ingermanlandia and Zechonia), I decided, as the host I didn’t want to be the only one using that clause, and with my thrice damned sense of honour, I decided I would accept this challenge. And it meant I spent less time looking for an entry and more time hosting, so in a way I’m glad I got this assignment. If we ever do this spinoff again, I am going to feel so spoilt for choice next time around, assuming I get a country that has even twice that many artists. Anyway, I quickly identified two potential artists, AJR, who have my favourite Niceland track, and Royce Lovett, with the kind of iconic That’s Dat Jesus. I nearly went for that and that would have gotten Pete’s approval but I decided I didn’t really like it enough besides a loose ironic appreciation. However (without knowing anything about how AJR were doing lately, as I don’t follow the charts anymore – I’ve never heard of them outside of a BJSC context so they don’t seem ‘cheap’ at all to me) I genuinely really liked Let The Games Begin and to my mind the title felt quite meta as it’s the sort of thing someone who knows all the behind-the-scenes workings of a game, or a contest, will say. I like meta. So the perfect title for the host to have. Mixed reactions but who knows how they’ll do. That’s right. Only I do. So guys, let the games begin! On my votes, I’ve given 18 to that beautiful Midnight song, which therefore leads the first scoreboard, I don’t think I gave points to The Years originally, or far too few at least and I’m glad I can rectify that because The Years is wonderful and so is this. Meanwhile Ramin with another wonderful soundtrack, a Pretty Reckless-esque Sizzy Rocket track, a wonderfully weird Gang Gang Dance song (just as good as Princes), and one of the best BJSC artists I’ve never entered, Haloo Helsinki with another Finn pop-rock tune, complete my top 5. “My” song comes just outside my votes, it’s a pretty good song but not an essential Tei Shi tune. |

I honestly didn't really have much choice, even though I do actually like Let The Games Begin - as I've never voted for Niceland so far and they're so new, (sorry to be trashtalking your country Pete, I was trying to work with what I had). |
