Surprised there isn't a thread for this, unless i've missed it.

I've watched Jungles (because favourite habitat - Orangutans ) and High Seas for all the weird and wonderful aquatic life. The footage is mostly incredible. The angle is heavily focused on preservation so that underpins most of the narration.

Sensational viewing. Can't wait to watch the rest.

I kept meaning to make a thread on this but forgot, at least someone else has now!

The first episode was stunning, but also harrowing especially at the end. But I think it's definitely needed as while the BBC documentaries are absolutely stunning, the fact that it could be destroyed is sugarcoated too much, It's good to see a program addressing that full on while reminding us what a beautiful world it can be as well.

And Frozen Worlds continued that indeed, gosh that Walrus gathering was horrible to watch, how many deaths must there be from that?

Coastal Seas is a brilliant watch, with a bit of hope put in at the end - so many more marine sanctuaries need to be protected by governments and we have to fish sustainably!

I adored the otters and the dolphins encircling their prey with rings of mud.

Indeed, the hunting scenes were spectacular, was nice to see the good that's currently being done as well as the bad things so there is proof we're trying. This program should enchant me and make me feel great, and it is beautiful but it's so sad as well, I've never really considered going vegetarian as it's just not the way I was brought up, but I'm closer than ever to being so after seeing this.

Though my highlights are the birds of paradise courtship scenes, I never knew some moved like a synchronised boyband to impress a mate *__

Yes that combo courtship ritual is amazing, lads lads lads lads in the bird world all helping their mate get off with a girl. Saturday Night Fever is alive and well

I also get simultaneously dazzled and amazed by the beauty & diversity of nature and depressed by what humans have always done and continue to do to it. I get more and more convinced that the reason there is no sign of intelligent life in the universe is because it inevitably self-destructs it's own habitat as it gets more and more dominant and widespread. Animal populations that explode in numbers tend to crash spectacularly at some point unless they are held in check.

Happy bank holiday though!
