To mark 10 years since Adele's first album release, 19, I have compiled the following list, which makes for impressive reading.
UK'S BIGGEST SELLING ALBUMS OF THE LAST DECADE (2008-2018) (The Adele era) 1 21 ADELE 5.1m 2 25 ADELE 3.4m 3 X ED SHEERAN 3.3m 4 CRAZY LOVE MICHAEL BUBLE 3.1m 5 THE FAME LADY GAGA 3.0m 6 ONLY BY THE NIGHT KINGS OF LEON 3.0m 7 ÷ ED SHEERAN 2.8m 8 CHRISTMAS MICHAEL BUBLE 2.7m 9 IN THE LONELY HOUR SAM SMITH 2.4m 10 19 ADELE 2.4m In the last few weeks 19 has overtaken Take That's Progress in this list, and then subsequently been overtaken by Sam Smith's ITLH. Although technically at the exact point of 19's 10 year anniversary (28th Jan), it may still have been just slightly ahead of ITLH, which would make it the 9th best seller in the 10 years since it's release. However as ITLH is almost exactly the same sales but selling substantially more per week at the moment, I have given it the benefit of the doubt. So over the last decade, Adele has the 1st, 2nd and 10th best selling albums in the UK, and only 5 (potentially 4) other artists in that time have had albums selling more than 19- Adele's lowest selling album. |
