Released on iTunes today.
Includes three tracks - 'Set You Free', 'Sunrise' & 'Walk Away', all produced by Jodie Harsh. 'Set You Free' is currently in the 70s area of UK iTunes (due to EP sales), which is rather miraculous for Melanie. She's never gone as high as this on iTunes before!
I don't think all that much of the first two tracks, but 'Walk Away' is lovely.
First YouTube link is a full song, the next two are clips.
just purchased , im a big Melanie fan and am enjoying these new tracks!
Set You Free is my fav so far!
I hope this can keep climbing and at the worst go top 75.
Everything about this is very cheap, but the songs are good. Sunrise is my favourite.
Walk Away sounds nice. The other 2 are pretty dire though...
Is Jodie Harsh a drag queen?
^ Yep!
~~~
'Sunrise' has grown on me, has a bit more to it than 'Set You Free'.
All of them are horrible, especially set you free which means extreme boredom.
Happy 11th year anniversary of The Night!
Recorded as part of The Sea sessions and released exclusively on iTunes exactly 11 years ago, it's still only available on iTunes & Apple Music.
What's your favorite track from the EP? Mine is Set You Free.
Still love it
Walk Away
It was so cheap produced.
Walk Away should have been on The Sea. Great song
Track by Track
Set You Free
The lead track introduces the EP with light dub-step moments and thrusts into full-on hands in the air synths and a tight kick drum. Through big anthemic vocals Melanie sings about the freedom you feel in that perfect dance floor moment – blinded by lights, drowning in the music, feeling the love from your friends.
Sunrise
It's immediately apparent this song is inspired by nights out in Ibiza. The track boasts a big-room sound with a killer beat and chopped up vocals. Girl meets boy, dances the night away, boy looks just as great in the sunlight the following day. A holiday romance and a real peak-time dance floor moment.
Walk Away
Taking things a little slower, the final song narrates the organic end to a relationship and the weight it brings off your shoulders...a sigh of relief and a 'change of atmosphere'. Mid-tempo and orchestral, it's a dramatic ending to the EP with it's big hip hop drum and a epic build.
It was very meh, considering both Mel has released far better songs and Jodie has since produced some real bangers + The Sea was much stronger melody-wise (and that was the most recent standard for that, at least for me).
Walk away is decent, the other two songs are a massive no.
