Afternoon everyone- as per usual NO SPOILERS PLEASE- Thanks
Looking forward to Cheryl hopefully getting the record for most #1s by a British female artist today Also hoping Tom Odell makes the top 40!
Lift Me Up is so nostalgic for me. Love it!
God how much did Macy Gray's 'I Try' sell
Dark day for music today imo.
10 years since Jamelia did a brilliant cover of 'Stop', which surely means it's been 10 years since 'Bridget Jones; Edge of Reason' came out?
How appropriate that "Lift Me Up" is this week's #1 flashback as Cheryl will break Geri's record of most #1's by a British female solo artist today.

Biography
Jocelyn Eve Stoker (born 11 April 1987), better known by her stage name Joss Stone, is an English soul singer-songwriter and actress. Stone rose to fame in late 2003 with her multi-platinum debut album, The Soul Sessions, which made the 2004 Mercury Prize shortlist. Her second album, the similarly multi-platinum Mind Body & Soul, topped the UK Albums Chart for one week and spawned the top ten hit "You Had Me", Stone's most successful single on the UK Singles Chart to date. Both the album and single received one nomination at the 2005 Grammy Awards, while Stone herself was nominated for Best New Artist, and in an annual BBC poll of music critics, Sound of 2004 was ranked fifth as a predicted breakthrough act of 2004. She became the youngest British female singer whose album topped the UK Albums Chart. Stone's third album, Introducing Joss Stone, released in March 2007, achieved gold record status by the RIAA and yielded the second-ever highest debut for a British female solo artist on the Billboard 200, and became Stone's first top five album in the United States and first non-top ten album in the United Kingdom.
Stone released her fourth album, Colour Me Free!, on 20 October 2009, which reached the Top 10 on Billboard. Stone released her fifth album, LP1, on 22 July 2011, which reached the Top 10 on Billboard. Throughout her career, Stone has sold 14 million albums worldwide, establishing herself as one of the best-selling artists of her time, best-selling soul artists of the 2000s and best-selling British artists of her time. Her first three albums have sold over 2,722,000 copies in the United States, while her first two albums have sold over 2,000,000 copies in United Kingdom. She has earned numerous awards and accolades, including two BRIT Awards and one Grammy Award out of five nominations. She also made her film acting debut in 2006 with the fantasy adventure film Eragon, and made her television debut portraying Anne of Cleves in the Showtime series The Tudors in 2009. Stone was the youngest woman on the 2006 Sunday Times Rich List—an annual list of the UK's wealthiest people—with £6 million. In 2012, her net worth was estimated to be £10 million, making her the fifth richest British musician under 30. The Soul Sessions Vol. 2, a sequel to her debut album, was released on 23 July 2012. This is her fourth consecutive album to reach the Top 10 on Billboard 200. - Wikipedia

Biography
First emerging in 2012, Henry Krinkle made serious waves amongst the dance circuit with his captivating track 'Stay'. Quickly becoming a blog mainstay for its future-garage influences, 'Stay' developed as a viral force and amassed a remarkable 35 million views in under a year. Proving to be just the start for Henry, 'Stay''s timeless allure has seen his career grow from strength to strength and has firmly solidify his position as a dance music tastemaker.
Born in Estonia, Henry began creating music in his bedroom whilst teaching in Shanghai. A well-travelled background, coupled with a thirst for knowledge, laid the foundations for Krinkle's impeccable taste for innovate productions. With notable influences coming from the UK's experimental post-dubstep scene, Henry soon began to introduce a new sound to the night life of Shanghai and with that, he crafted 'Stay'.
Taking cues from the likes of fellow up and coming producers such as Cyril Hahn, Karma Kid and XXYYXX, Henry Krinkle is another name to add to the ever growing list of producers taking contemporary house music by storm. Now residing in LA, he has performed everywhere from impromptu Philadelphia rooftop parties to big rooms in Miami, and is a regular contributor to the lauded Kitsuné and Black Butter Records parties. Tours of Europe, Canada and USA have all shaped his ever-growing following, with support coming from the legendary Pete Tong, Rob Da Bank and Digital Soundgirl B-Traits.
Recent highlights include a headline set at the Temple tent at Bestival, as well as performing a key slot at Hard Day Of The Dead festival in LA alongside dance music superstars Calvin Harris, Deadmau5 and Eric Prydz. 2014 has seen Henry perform at the pivotal SXSW festival and Miami Winter conference, sharing line ups with Gorgon City, Kidnap Kid, Manik, Josh Wink, Saint Pepsi, De Lux, Moon Boots and Le Youth.
Henry has also released a steady flow of remixes for established producers including Le Youth's 'C O O L’ and Joel Compass' 'Astronaut' over the past two years, with his innovative productions proving to be highly in demand. With commissions on their way and 'Stay' having summoned a spot on leading dance label 'Ultra', Henry Krinkle is creating a new sound in modern electronic dance music. - www.residentadvisor.net

This weeks chart show presenter:
Jameela Jamil
This week:
5
The #41 feature of the show is actually proving to be useful sometimes with this and Dirty Love having got plays out of it! Amazing to hear 'Stay', missing top 40 is such an injustice though but was to be expected.
Finally an interesting #41 and I was too late But yay Henry Krinkle, such a great song.
NOOO at Henry missing the top 40. Ah well, at least he gets the honour of having the first non-top 40 hit to be played as the #41 ~ When will your faves.
I hope they've managed to get a clean version of 'Open Wide' for this weeks show. I'll be disappointed if they have to skip it again considering they've had a week to sort it out.

Very stagnant start (but kinda still want 'Happy' here next week so it can reach 50 weeks top 40?!!!).
But yay for 'Oh Cecilia (Breaking My Heart)', hopefully it can scrape another week next week after it stabilising a bit on iTunes.
Not their best single IMO, not as close to Wildheart
Oh Celine (Breaking My Ears)
glad this is on its way out but it's been in the chart longer than I thought it would

Biography
In one of the more unlikely crossover success stories, blonde Australian beauty Iggy Azalea (born Amethyst Amelia Kelly) segued from a high-profile modeling career to become a southern hip-hop star. Influenced in her childhood by Missy Elliott, TLC, and Tupac Shaqur, she moved to the states in 2006 at age 16, stating that she was drawn to the birthplace of rap. Moving from Miami to Houston to Atlanta, she absorbed the Southern-style drawl of her surroundings and released a trap-inspired mixtape titled Ignorant Art in 2011, shortly after relocating to Los Angeles. A video for her song "Pu$$y" was uploaded to the internet and became a YouTube favorite due to its explicit nature. Around this time, Azalea's blossoming relationship with rising rapper A$AP Rocky earned her some headlines (she tattooed the title of his debut album on her knuckles), but her recording career stalled when plans to work with T.I. fell through due to label conflicts. In spring of 2012, she signed to Wilhelmina Models International and pursued modeling full-time, landing a job as the "New Face of Levi's Jeans." Later that year, her musical stock skyrocketed when XXL Magazine put her on the cover of their annual Top 10 Freshman issue, alongside Danny Brown, Roscoe Dash, and French Montana. As the first female, non-American rapper to make the list, serious hip-hop fans took notice, including Diplo, who hooked up with Azalea for her follow-up mixtape, TrapGold, before she signed to Mercury Records for her official 2013 debut The New Classic. - iTunes

'Black Widow' here to retain Rita's relevance after her floppy tweet.
Still a good tune though.
blegh widow out next week please
"Waves" 4th week at number 37 overall, matches record holder Engelbert Humperdinck's "Release Me"
Black Widow has gotten old quickly for me
The staleness of the lower end of the top 40 is irritating me significantly more than usual this week just because of the juxtaposition to 'Stay' being at #41

Biography
Onika Tanya Maraj (born December 8, 1982), known by her stage name Nicki Minaj (/mɪˈnɑːʒ/), is an American rapper, singer, song-writer and actress. Born in Saint James, Trinidad and Tobago and raised in Jamaica, Queens, New York, Minaj received public notice after releasing three mixtapes between 2007–2009. She signed a recording contract with Young Money Entertainment in 2009.
Minaj's debut album, Pink Friday (2010), peaked at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 and spawned the top-ten single "Super Bass". During that time, Minaj became the first female solo artist to have seven singles simultaneously charting on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Her second studio album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded (2012), also topped the chart and its lead single, "Starships", peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100. The album was reissued as an expanded version, subtitled The Re-Up. Minaj's third album, The Pinkprint, is scheduled for release on November 24, 2014. The album's second single, "Anaconda", peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and is her highest-charting single in the U.S. to date. Minaj was a voice actress in the animated film Ice Age: Continental Drift in 2012, and made her acting debut in the 2014 film The Other Woman. In 2013, she was a main judge on the twelfth season of American Idol.
Minaj was the first female artist included on MTV's Annual Hottest MC List, with The New York Times saying that some consider her "the most influential female rapper of all time". Her rapping is distinctive for its fast flow and the use of alter egos and accents, primarily British cockney. Minaj's colorful costumes, wigs and clothing has given her recognition as a fashion icon. In April 2013, Minaj became the most-charted female rapper in the history of the Billboard Hot 100, with over 44 appearances. Minaj has endorsed Adidas, MAC Cosmetics and Pepsi. She has won four American Music Awards, eight BET Awards, two MTV Music Awards, an MTV Europe Music Award, five Billboard Music Awards and Billboard's 2011 Rising Star award. - Wikipedia

Yay finally something fresh! Like this much more than 'Pills N Potions' and 'Anaconda', even if it is just Young Money by numbers.
Oh Jameela
I quite like this instrumental tbh
Enjoying this edit
Yasss Nicki slaying. When will Iggy get such an urban song in the top 40?
The queen of rap coming just after the wannabe queen of rap
the radio edit so much swearing lol, to be expected with an urban Nicki song
all the blanks in this edit
Really not a fan of this track though, Nicki can do waaay better. Feels like it goes on for about 10 minutes lol.
Isn't 'Stay' just AN Other generic sampled dance track though?
Shame that 'Stay' just missed out on a Top40 place. No UK Top40 hit for Henry Krinkle or Usfland

Biography
OneRepublic is an American pop rock band from Colorado Springs, Colorado. Formed in 2002 by Ryan Tedder and Zach Filkins, the band achieved commercial success on MySpace as an unsigned act. In 2003, the band was discovered by actress Kelly Barrett in Hollywood who connected them directly with her cousins Jimmy Ienner and Donnie Ienner, who was the President of Sony at that time, by making one phone call to get the AR Reps to their show. They then signed to Sony BMG for three years, before moving to Mosley Music Group.
In 2007, OneRepublic released their debut album, Dreaming Out Loud. Its lead single, "Apologize" was notably remixed by Timbaland, becoming a huge international success, reaching number one in sixteen countries, subsequently earning them a Grammy Award nomination. The second single, "Stop and Stare" mirrored its predecessor's success. The album was later certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The band's second album, Waking Up (2009), produced the successful singles, "All the Right Moves", "Secrets", "Marchin On", and "Good Life", the latter reaching the top ten of the US Billboard Hot 100.
OneRepublic's third album, Native (2013), became the band's first top ten album on the Billboard 200, and highest charting album to date, charting at number four. The lead single, "If I Lose Myself" charted within the top ten in several countries, while the album's third single, "Counting Stars", became the band's most successful single in recent years, obtaining top five placements in Australia, Canada, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, the U.S. and the UK. This marks their highest charting single in the United Kingdom to date. It has also peaked at number 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100, matching their highest peak of "Apologize" in 2007. - Wikipedia

Celebrities getting the Horn, could that get in to Jameelas Top 40 Moments
Oops I thought this was 'Ugly Heart' after the first two secs...
But this is so inferior to that, so incredibly vapid
I Lived is boring so looks like I'll be playing Open Wide myself while that happens once again (last week it was in place of Sing)
Oh this is still here. Really not interesting.
No reply back from Jameela Jamil or Radio 1 after I tweeted her about the "Jameela's Top40 Moments'.
To be fair 'Open Wide' isn't actually a single which is probably why they haven't bothered making an edit. Still quite annoying that they can't play it when it's far more interesting a song than most of the rest of the top 40 though.
Well I prefer this to Counting Stars and Love Runs Out
Quite like I lived and the video is good too
I don't mind 'I Lived', but it's nowhere near their best imo.
Is it shocking that there's no radio edit for Open Wide? It's not even a single (yet)

Biography
Maroon 5 (formerly known as Kara's Flowers) is an American pop rock band that originated in Los Angeles, California. The group was formed in 1994 as Kara's Flowers while its members were still in high school. The original members of the band were: Adam Levine, Jesse Carmichael, Mickey Madden and Ryan Dusick; they signed to Reprise Records and released an album, The Fourth World, in 1997. After a tepid response to the album, the band parted ways with the record label and the members attended college. In 2001, the band regrouped, with James Valentine added to the lineup, and pursued a new direction under the name: Maroon 5.
The band signed with Octone Records and released their debut album, Songs About Jane, in June 2002. The album's lead single "Harder to Breathe", received heavy airplay, which helped the album to debut at number six on the Billboard 200 chart. The album's second and third singles, "This Love" and "She Will Be Loved", became worldwide hits reaching the top five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The band won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2005. For the next few years, the band toured extensively worldwide in support of Songs About Jane and produced two live recordings: 2004's 1.22.03.Acoustic and 2005's Live – Friday the 13th. In 2006, drummer, percussionist and backing vocalist Ryan Dusick left the band and was replaced by Matt Flynn. The band recorded their second album, It Won't Be Soon Before Long, and released in May 2007. The album reached number one on the US Billboard 200 chart and the lead single, "Makes Me Wonder", became the band's first number-one song on the Billboard Hot 100.

Yay at this dropping (probably not for long though especially with that remix coming out soon).

- Wikipedia

Excellent start for Tom Odell here. Real Love is such a good song.
YESSSSS TOM! Never expected it to be anywhere NEAR this high - I thought it would be around #32 at most! Over the moon though, gorgeous track and it's great to finally have him back in the top 40.
Oh yes! I'm in love with this Tom Odell version of Real Love.
Real Love is a Beatles cover, not a John Lennon one!

Much better debut for this than I expected! Really gorgeous cover from a fantastic advert, hope it does get to #1
So the song in that advert that glamorizes penguin smuggling makes the top 40. Not bad, albeit rather schmaltzy.

Biography
Although the first solo single from soul-inspired, London-born artist Sam Smith was issued in early 2013, it was his soaring vocal contribution to Disclosure's October 2012 U.K. garage track "Latch" which brought him to most people's attention. For most of his teens, Smith balanced study with music, soaking in the raw and passionate approach to performance exemplified by his favorite artists at that time such as Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, and Chaka Khan. "Latch" hit the upper reaches of the U.K. singles chart when Smith was 21, and many were surprised when his debut solo track took a more tempered path. The production on February 2013's "Lay Me Down" — also courtesy of the ordinarily dancefloor-focused duo Disclosure — recalled the stripped-back material that had proved successful for Adele in the preceding years. Next, Shahid Khan — aka Naughty Boy — decided to follow his Emeli Sandé-fronted U.K. Top Ten hit "Wonder" with the infectious, Bollywood sample-driven "La La La." Featuring Smith's powerful lead vocal, it became an instant May 2013 U.K. number one single following his spring tour in support of Sandé. - iTunes

Song info
"Bump n' Grind" is a song by American R&B musician R. Kelly. It was the second single released from his first solo album 12 Play in 1994. The track became a number one single on the United States Billboard Hot 100 (temporarily interrupting the six-week run of Ace of Base's "The Sign"), and it also spent twelve weeks at number one on the US Hot R&B Songs chart as the singer's third #1 R&B hit, becoming the longest-running number-one US. R&B single at that time. The song also reached number eight in the UK charts, following the massive success of his previous single, "She's Got That Vibe" (which was actually a re-release).
British house duo Waze & Odyssey produced a bootleg of the track back in 2012, sampling "Push the Feeling On" by Nightcrawlers. The remix will be officially released on 19 October 2014. - Wikipedia

'Bump & Grind 2014' is an absolute bomb!
Only my second listen of 'Bump & Grind 2014' and now the 'Push the Feeling On' sample has become obvious! Looove the production but I'm not a fan of the original Bump & Grind so that part doesn't really do much for meee

Song info
"Wicked Game" is a 1990 song by Chris Isaak from his third studio album Heart Shaped World. Despite being released as a single in 1989, it did not become a hit until it was later featured in the David Lynch film Wild at Heart (1990). Lee Chesnut, an Atlanta radio station music director who loved David Lynch films, began playing the song and it quickly became a nationwide top ten hit in January 1991, reaching #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, making it the first hit song of his career.
In 2013, German house producer Parra for Cuva released a cover version that featured Anna Naklab. The single was retitled as "Wicked Games" in plural. This version has charted in France, Belgium and the Netherlands. - Wikipedia

Bre as well?
Oh no @ Wicked Games out of the Top 10.
Bre is Jameela's favourite!
poor bray going to eat his socks.
omg Bray
This is so inferior to the original, it does nothing for me
Glad this mess is out of the top 10.
I did a Tweet, I very much I doubt it'll get read out.
Quite like this cover of Wicked Game, although I do prefer the original. I'd love to hear this one mashed up with the main hook from Smalltown Boy by Bronski Beat, it would sound epic.
'Wicked Games'
Just a shame it only had a week in the top 10!
me + bre Jameela's favourite!

Biography
Favoring a naughty schoolboy look that makes him seem even younger than his already tender years (22 when his first major-label album was released), Scottish artist, producer, and remixer Calvin Harris has a similarly youthful and forward-looking approach to his music. Skipping the usual apprenticeship in the clubs or on indie labels, Harris went from posting his own D.I.Y. electroclash music online through MySpace and similar sites, to signing with the multinational giant EMI almost in a single step. A short time later, he was producing material for Kylie Minogue, Dizzee Rascal, and Rihanna.
Born on January 17, 1984, in the southern Scotland city of Dumfries, Harris was first attracted to electronic music in his teens and was recording bedroom demos by 1999. Two of these songs, "Da Bongos" and "Brighter Days," were released as a 12" club single and CD-EP by the Prima Facie label in early 2002 under the artist name Stouffer. With that single to his credit, the still teenaged Harris moved from Scotland to London, but as a very small fish in one of the world's largest and most competitive ponds, Harris floundered; only one of his songs was released during his time in London, "Let Me Know" with vocalist Ayah on the Unabombers' 2004 live-mix CD Electric Soul, Vol. 2.
Returning home to Dumfries, Harris began posting homemade solo recordings to his MySpace page. An A&R representative from EMI liked what he heard and signed Harris to the label in 2006. Following a pair of successful singles, Harris released his debut album, I Created Disco, in the summer of 2007. It featured two Top Ten hits ("Acceptable in the 80s" and "The Girls"), and climbed high in the album charts. Along with his work as a solo artist, including touring in front of a full live band, Harris quickly became an in-demand remixer — working on singles by Jamiroquai, Groove Armada, All Saints, and CSS. He also wrote and produced songs for Kylie Minogue's 2007 comeback album, and collaborated with Dizzee Rascal on "Dance wiv Me," which reached number one in the U.K.
"I'm Not Alone," the first single from his second album, also hit number one upon release in April 2009, as did the album when it appeared that August. That album, Ready for the Weekend, topped the U.K. album chart and peaked at number 12 on Billboard's U.S. dance/electronic chart. Through 2011, Harris took on production work for Example, Tinchy Stryder, and Rihanna ("We Found Love," a quadruple-platinum hit in the U.S.), while he also issued two more of his own singles (the Kelis collaboration "Bounce" and "Feel So Close"). Harris' third solo album, 18 Months, was a collaboration-filled affair that featured "We Found Love" and "Bounce" plus vocal spots from Ellie Goulding, Florence Welch, and Ne-Yo, among others. It was released in October of 2012. - iTunes

- iTunes

Still in top 10 wow! Gotta hand it to him, and he'll get a massive boost next week too.
What is it with INTOO and the #10 position? And with him performing on X Factor it could happen again next week
@alan_1121 well I'm very grateful to the extra 300,000 people who listen since I started. Super nice of them. And I'm laughing to the bank!

Sam Smith missed a HUGE opportunity not having 'Leave Your Lover' as a single in time for X Factor. A performance of it tonight would have been incredible and the song deserves to be massive.

Biography
Following the success of JLS and the Wanted, X Factor contestants One Direction were the next group of heartthrobs to help revive the boy-band concept. The quintet outdid all of their predecessors, becoming the biggest boy band since Take That, selling millions of albums and singles, filling arenas and making movies, while hitting number one many times over across the world with undeniably hooky songs and plenty of boy next door charm.
The group was formed by Niall Horan from Mullingar, Ireland; Zayn Malik from Bradford; Harry Styles from Cheshire; Louis Tomlinson from Doncaster, and Liam Payne from Wolverhampton (the latter had previously reached the judge's house stages of The X Factor as a 14-year-old back in 2008). Each originally entered 2010's seventh series of X Factor as individuals, but following a suggestion from guest judge Nicole Scherzinger, they were grouped together to become One Direction. Mentored by Simon Cowell, they soon became one of the favorites to win the show, thanks to renditions of Kelly Clarkson's "My Life Would Suck Without You," Elton John's "Something About the Way You Look Tonight," and Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart." However, despite receiving a standing ovation for their duet with Robbie Williams ("She's the One") in the live final, they eventually finished third behind Rebecca Ferguson and winner Matt Cardle.
Spotting the potential of five Justin Bieber-esque teen pinups, Cowell signed them to his Syco label in a two-million dollar deal, and after performing on the X Factor tour, the quintet began work on their debut album with Savan Kotecha (Britney Spears, Enrique Iglesias). Following a sponsorship deal with Nintendo DS and a book, Forever Young, named after their cover of the Alphaville classic that was intended to be their winner's song, they released their first single, "What Makes You Beautiful," in late 2011. The full-length album Up All Night followed soon after. In 2012, One Direction became the first British band to debut on top of the Billboard 200 list when Up All Night sold over 176,000 copies during its first week of release in America.
In late 2012, One Direction released their sophomore album, Take Me Home. Highlighting more of the band's melodic pop, Take Me Home featured songs and production via Sweden's Carl Falk, Rami Yacoub, and Savan Kotecha, who worked on Up All Night, as well as contributions from singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran. The album proved to be another smash and topped charts around the world, earning multi-platinum certification in half a dozen countries. The singles "Live While We're Young" and "Little Things" also hit number one across the globe, and "Kiss You" reached the Top Ten in the U.S.
One Direction then embarked on a globe-spanning tour in which the band played over 100 shows, including six sold-out nights at London's massive O2 Arena. At the same time, they were being filmed by director Morgan Spurlock for This Is Us, a mix of documentary and concert footage that proved to be successful at the box office when it was released in August of 2013. While they were touring, One Direction also began work on their third album, Midnight Memories. Released just in time for the 2013 holidays, the record featured songwriting input from all the members, a new production team, and some new folk and '80s hair metal influences. It nearly outdid Take Me Home and Up All Night, peaking at number one in seven countries and spawning the singles "Best Song Ever" and "Story of My Life." - iTunes

'Steal My Girl' is a huge grower, I have now decided I love the production and verses, the chorus just isn't quite hitting yet.
Jameela had been actual-free for four weeks until this one, right?
Will they be singing this tonight?

Biography
Jessica Ellen Cornish (born 27 March 1988), better known by her stage name Jessie J, is an English singer and songwriter. Born and brought up in London, England, she studied at the BRIT School before signing with Gut Records and striking a songwriting deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing where she wrote for artists including Chris Brown and Miley Cyrus.
After signing with Universal Republic, Jessie J came to prominence following the release of her debut single, "Do It Like a Dude", which peaked at number two on the UK Singles Charts. In 2011, after topping the charts in nineteen countries including the United Kingdom, France, Ireland and New Zealand, with the song "Price Tag", she released her début album, Who You Are, which charted at number two in the UK. Other releases from the album included "Nobody's Perfect", "Who's Laughing Now" and "Who You Are", which all charted within the top 20 in the UK. Release of the fifth single, "Domino", resulted in further international chart success, peaking at number six on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and becoming her second UK number one. The seventh single released from Who You Are, "LaserLight", became the album's sixth top ten single, making her the first British female artist to have six top ten singles from a studio album. Her second album, Alive, was released on 23 September 2013 and reached the top 5 in the UK Albums Chart. Aside from her musical career, Jessie J served as coach and mentor on television show, The Voice UK.
Citing various influences, Jessie J is recognised for an unconventional musical and performance style that mixes soul vocals with contemporary R&B, pop, electropop, and hip-hop beats. Jessie J has garnered various awards and nominations for contributions to the music industry, including the 2011 Critics' Choice BRIT Award and the BBC's Sound of 2011. As of April 2012, Jessie J had sold over 11 million singles and 2.5 million albums, worldwide. - Wikipedia

HA JAMEELA NEVER SHADE ME AGAIN.
LEE 1 JAMEELA 0.
How a new Calvin Harris album can't outsell one in its 20th week is quite puzzling, especially when it was preceded by three number 1's. Guess Sheeran's on another level this year...
Wanted Calvin to get number one
'Outside'
Gutted 'Motion' missed out on the top spot.
Calvin's album is very patchy, but 'Outside' is such a highlight from it, so I'm pleased that's done so well.
Calvin really should've been #1
Really disappointed for Calvin, my album of the year for sure (not that I'm that interested in any others for it to have competition).
ADORE Outside, much better than I Need Your Love - THEM STRINGS *.
X FACTOR FOR THIS PLEASE.
Outside easily the best Calvin track since Feel So Close.
Outside is really outstanding for me now. Surprised it took me at least 4-5 listens for it to hit.
Outside getting a high debut Amazing single, easily better than Summer/Blame anyway, not sure if it's better than Under Control yet but time will tell
Outside so amazing.
a good Calvin single in 2014? i am agog~

Biography
Taylor Alison Swift (born December 13, 1989) is an American singer-songwriter. Raised in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, Swift moved to Nashville, Tennessee at the age of fourteen to pursue a career in country music. She signed with the independent label Big Machine Records and became the youngest songwriter ever hired by the Sony/ATV Music publishing house. The release of Swift's eponymous debut album in 2006 established her as a country music star. "Our Song", her third single, made her the youngest person to single-handedly write and perform a number one song on the country chart. She received a Best New Artist nomination at the 2008 Grammy Awards.
Swift's second album, Fearless, was released in 2008. Buoyed by the pop crossover success of the singles "Love Story" and "You Belong with Me", Fearless became the best-selling album of 2009 and was supported by an extensive concert tour. The record won four Grammy Awards, with Swift becoming the youngest ever Album of the Year winner. Swift's third album, 2010's Speak Now, sold over one million copies in its first week of US release and was supported by the Speak Now World Tour. The album's third single, "Mean", won two Grammy Awards. Swift's fourth album, Red, was released in 2012. Its opening US sales of 1.2 million were the highest recorded in a decade, with Swift becoming the only female artist to have two million-plus opening weeks. The singles "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" and "I Knew You Were Trouble" were worldwide hits. The Red Tour is visiting worldwide venues in 2013 and 2014.
Swift is known for her narrative songs about her experiences as a teenager and young adult. As a songwriter, she has been honored by the Nashville Songwriters Association and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Swift's other achievements include seven Grammy Awards, twelve Billboard Music Awards, eleven American Music Awards, eleven Country Music Association Awards and six Academy of Country Music Awards. She has sold over 26 million albums and 75 million digital single downloads worldwide. Forbes estimates that she is worth over $220 million. In addition to her music career, Swift has appeared as an actress in the ensemble comedy Valentine's Day (2010) and the animated film The Lorax (2012). As a philanthropist, Swift supports arts education, children's literacy, natural disaster relief, LGBT anti-discrimination efforts, and charities for sick children. - Wikipedia

Still refusing to budge, it's getting to the overplayed stage now.
all of me at #4? FML
'Outside' growing on me already - quite surprised it managed to debut as high as #6, looks like another big hit for Calvin. Shame the album couldn't get to #1 but '18 Months' went back to #1 in January 2013 so maybe there's still hope for it?
Ugh at 'All Of Me' holding onto the top 4 :\
So sick of 'Shake It Off' now, they played it THREE times at a firework display yesterday (Along with the usual lolfests of 'Firework', 'Firestarter', 'Relight My Fire'...)
The success for 'Shake It Off' is SO baffling, most annoying video ever also imo.

Biography
Cheryl Ann Fernandez-Versini (née Tweedy, formerly Cole; born 30 June 1983), known professionally as Cheryl Cole, is an English recording artist, songwriter, dancer, and television personality. She rose to fame in late 2002 when she auditioned for the reality television show Popstars: The Rivals on ITV. The programme announced that Cole had won a place as a member of the girl group Girls Aloud. The group's line-up remained the same throughout their history and during that time the group achieved a string of twenty consecutive top ten singles in the United Kingdom (including four number one singles) and six platinum albums (two of which went to number one) and earned five BRIT Award nominations from 2005 to 2010. In 2009, Girls Aloud won "Best Single" with their song "The Promise". In early 2013, Girls Aloud announced that they had split up.
Cole embarked on a solo career and released her first solo studio album 3 Words (2009) through Polydor records. 3 Words saw the release of three successful singles and the lead single from the album, "Fight for This Love," debuted at number one on the UK charts, becoming the best selling single of the year. "3 Words" and "Parachute" both peaked within the top five of the UK charts. 2010 saw the release of Cole's second studio album Messy Little Raindrops, which produced two singles, the first being "Promise This" which went straight to number one. Cole released her third solo album A Million Lights on 18 June 2012, with lead single "Call My Name" being released on 11 June 2012, the single became Cole's third number one single. During her solo career, Cole has earned three BRIT Award nominations.
Cole has become a recognised and photographed style icon; referred to as a fashionista by the press. She has been photographed for the covers of British Vogue, Elle and Harper's Bazaar, while becoming the new face of cosmetic company L'Oréal. Cole was married to England footballer Ashley Cole from July 2006 until September 2010, when she divorced him following the announcement of their separation earlier that year. Cole became a judge on the UK version of The X Factor in 2008, becoming the winning judge twice out of the three series she judged. In 2011, Cole left the UK version of The X Factor to judge the American version. However, Cole was sacked from the show. Cole's net worth was estimated at £15 million in April 2012. On 10 March 2014, it was announced that Cole would return as a judge on the U.K. version of The X Factor for its eleventh series, signing a £1.5 million contract. - Wikipedia

I didn't even know Knife Party's album was out this week, it certainly wasn't in the mids - luckily not too much to type up for that though.
Fuse's album held up quite decently over the week!
YES! Knife Party charting in top 40 has made my day!
Abandon Ship got http://www.mixmag.net/words/news/knife-party-album-accidentally-leaked-by-itunes midweek on iTunes which explains why it wasn't in the mids
Well done Cheryl although we all know Ed will by far be the biggest 'hit'!
Congrats Cheryl!! Fantastic.
Anyone know where Nicole Big Fat Lie is this week? Incase anyone can see the lower end of the top 200 lol. This XFactor performance really can't come soon enough.
UGH ALL OF ME NEEDS TO DIE ALREADY
Yay go Cheryl! Never lost faith in her. Anyone who says otherwise is a troll.
They'll still have a portion of the Pendulum fanbase (like myself! )
