BuzzJack Music Forum _ UK Charts _ Friday Chart Predictions

Posted by: SevenSeize 14th August 2021, 12:28 PM

Ed Sheeran could remain at #1 for an eighth week, with The Kid Laroi/Justin Bieber his closest competition again. Expect to see new entries for Lizzo's comeback single Rumors alongside Cardi B, Joel Corry & Jax Jones' OUT OUT featuring Charli XCX & Saweetie and Digga D/ArrDee with Wasted. PinkPantheress releases her latest track Just for me, plus new songs from Machine Gun Kelly, Elton John/Dua Lipa and Katy B

The Killers' new album Pressure Machine will likely see them top the chart for the seventh time. Jungle's third record Loving In Stereo is among the new releases, including albums from Jade Bird, Luke Hemmings, Ben Platt, Slaughter To Prevail, Still Woozy, Dan + Shay and Iggy Azalea

Breakdown of the week
- Saturday: Some information may be posted on social media but it is likely to be missing most streaming data and is unrepresentative.
- Sunday: Official First Look Chart on Radio 1 from 6-7pm. Please do not post spoilers on the forum in advance as this ruins the countdown for any listeners.
- Monday: OCC Top 100 from 5:45pm
- Tuesday: Top 40 update as and when we receive them with requests, this is NOT 100% guaranteed however. The OCC may publish sales flashes of their own accord but likewise, this is not guaranteed. Twitter and social media is your friend for today. Please post any information you find with a source. Do not nag for updates, we will post a top 40 update if we receive one.
- Wednesday: Top 40 update from Music Week from 5:45, and potential top 5 sales but this is not guaranteed.
- Thursday: See Tuesday.

Other notes (please read)
- You may make requests Tuesday to Thursday but outside the top 40, specific positions will not be revealed (unless deemed necessary by a mod).
- Please do not demand a midweek update, one will be posted as and when we receive the information. Patience is a virtue.
- Sales information will be given out as deemed necessary by a moderator, please bear this in mind when making requests. Most requests for sales will be ignored. Any chart requests between No. 41 to 100 will not be answered after Monday's update.

I'm guessing it will overtake Billie who is probably at #5 here. The Top 4 will probably remain the same apart from Remember moving up one though.

Posted by: Bré 15th August 2021, 05:44 PM

Hope that 'INDUSTRY BABY' is safe to enter the top 10 this week - I wish it had taken off more by now tbh (I'd prefer to have seen the chart successes of this and 'MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)' swapped over) but at least it's another solid and stable hit for him.

Will be happy enough for 'Talk About' to go top 10 too. 'Fly Away' can drop out again though if it wants. x

London rapper Digga D and Brighton newcomer Arrdee are set for the highest new entry of the week according to tonight's Official Chart First Look.

Their new collaboration Wasted samples T2 and Jodie Aysha’s 2007 garage hit ‘Heartbroken’ and starts out at Number 6, while Ed Sheeran's Bad Habits is on course for an eighth week at Number 1, boosted by his latest drill remix featuring Tion Wayne and Central Cee.

Joel Corry and Jax Jones get together on new dancefloor banger OUT OUT featuring Charli XCX and Saweetie, the track which samples Stromae’s 2009 Europop smash Alors On Danse opens at Number 17.

Lizzo tags in Cardi B for her comeback track Rumours (19) – her first single since debut album Cuz I Love You. The fiercely unapologetic clapback track attempts to dismantle the gossip and haters and lands the pair a Top 20 entry midweek in the process.

Just outside tonight’s Official Chart First Look Top 20 lands Elton John and Dua Lipa’s brand new track Cold Heart, a mash-up of Elton classics Rocket Man and Sacrifice remixed by Pnau. The icon surprised holiday makers in Cannes when he popped up in La Guerite beach restaurant for an impromptu performance of the song which opens at Number 24 in this week’s Official Chart race.

After greeting his fellow restaurant guests, Sir Elton spoke over the intro to his song and said: ‘During lockdown I made this single – it came out yesterday – with Dua Lipa. So, I want you all to dance on your table and wave your hands and your handkerchiefs!’

Highest climber of the week so far comes courtesy of Nigerian superstar Wizkid. Essence ft. Tems, the fourth single from Made In Lagos, has enjoyed a steady nine-week climb up the UK Official Chart, entering the Top 40 for the first time on Friday. Set to be propelled even higher this week by a new remix featuring Justin Bieber, Essence is currently up 17 places midweek to Number 18, if it maintains its momentum Wizkid will snatch a personal best on Friday - his first ever UK Top 20 hit as a lead artist. Wizkid also guested on Drake's massive Number 1 hit One Dance back in 2016. See where all of Wizkid's songs charted in the UK.

Plus big climbs are in progress after 48 hours for Rain Radio and DJ Craig Gorman who fly all the way into the midweek Top 10 with Talk About (7), while Dance Monkey queen Tones & I rockets ten places to Number 9 with Fly Away, and Anne-Marie & Little Mix’s Kiss My (Uh Oh) ascends six rungs to Number 14.

For the final results tune in to The Official Chart with Scott Mills on BBC Radio 1 this Friday from 4pm.

Considering the lack of promotion and them having no proper single it looks good for them! Top 10 in the US and it will be an achievement! Album deserves success.

Yes UK Number 1 and a US top 10 or higher would be nice, not sure if they will go number 1 here in Ireland but hoping no lower than Top 3.

Posted by: LiamSime 16th August 2021, 04:54 PM

As expected, Woman by Doja Cat has entered and now starred out Ain’t Shit. All the ACR hit songs from the top 10 last week have held up a lot higher than I expected, but I’ve noticed that ACR punishes a song more as the week goes on so they will probably drop a bit more by Friday. Great to see If you really love me (how will I know) and Drive on track to enter this week, hopefully they can both hold on.

Save for another Dave-style "physical discovery", they already have it in the bag. Last week was Dave on 15k, Billie on 14k and Olivia on 11k and they have already surpassed that.

Disappointed Dermot Kennedy is down to 59 with better days, i was hoping he would be closer to the top 40 rather than top 60. Bad habits looks very safe for its 8th week at number 1.

Will streaming ever cease to be the main format in which people consume music is basically the question there.

Posted by: jimwatts 16th August 2021, 05:25 PM

After 19 weeks on the album chart, peaking so far at #85, 50 Cent's Best Of finally appears in the Monday top 100.

Posted by: Bré 16th August 2021, 05:41 PM

Yeah we can do without that horrendous Whitney remake becoming a big hit pls. (I guess it's good for John Newman making a comeback but could it have been with literally anything else? x)

'Bad Habits' is up about 3.7k from its Monday midweek last week, the new remix is obviously much more streaming than sales driven so probably safe to assume it's heading for 0 weeks decline which means it's coming for 11+ weeks at #1 unless something major happens to disrupt that.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 16th August 2021, 06:04 PM

I was really hoping to see 'Take My Breath' climb into the top 10 this week.

I hope this can actually become a big hit, this is a bit of a worrying start for it.

This has felt like an extremely lowkey release from The Killers really, wouldn't surprise me if a significant portion of the people who bought their last album in week 1 weren't even aware it was coming out. The fact it's still cruising to a comfortable #1 despite not even having a lead single just shows how healthy their fanbase continues to be. Brandon Flowers 9 for 9 on studio albums debuting at reaching #1 in the UK!

The OCC did credit Elton on it (in an extremely rare case of them bothering to change the credits for a remix version, despite it being arguable if the Elton version even is the 'main' version of the song since neither version was really pushed as a proper single).

his last new entry in the top 40 was that Tiny Dancer cover by Ironik ft Chipmunk and Elton John
and as a lead his last proper new entry was Electricity which debuted at #4 in 2005,
and is his most recent solo top-40 hit in the UK not counting the re-entries for Step into Xmas.
Electricity charted thanks to some dubious chart shenanigans, thanks to an Elton John competition where fans sent text message and received a download of the track, which counted towards the song's chart position ohmy.gif

I'm not gonna be holding my breath for Lorde to be in contention for the #1 album, I thought 'Melodrama' would have been in with a good shot at the time but then it ended up charting lower than her debut (including infamously being outsold by a new album from goddamn Nickelback of all people). I hope she can at least keep up her 100% record of top 5 albums though.

I imagine that unless it was a very limited release a vinyl for 'SOUR' will have enough interest behind it to boost the album back to #1.

Big shame about Kiss Me (Uh Oh) dropping back down. At least the Fly Away earache is no longer on track to bother the top 10.

Just For Me on for a Top 40 debut is of course fabulous though I had hoped it would me more of an instant hit than this considering it was promoted on TikTok before release.

Fully expecting it to scrape top 20 and then stick around forever at the low end of the chart. Don’t know how big her core fanbase are, but the fact all her solo songs (with no features/extra artist credit attached) have struggled doesn’t give me much hope there is one.

Glad to see The Killers looking comfortable. It is a very cohesive album which hopefully will help encourage people to listen to the whole thing rather than cherry pick 1-2 tracks. Dave would need quite the last minute boost to catch up now. laugh.gif

Yessss Just For Me grabbing a top 40 debut cheer.gif

also surely Becky Hill’s album has a strong chance of going to #1? Considering the extensive singles campaign and a week with little competition…

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 18th August 2021, 12:15 PM

You've got Halsey and CHVRCHES on that day as well!

Though no single has even been released for Halsey's album yet, so who knows how it might do

Are the sales of Ed Sheeran song Bad Habits on course to go on DCL-2 this week?

No, his sales will almost certainly go back to zero weeks of decline this week with the remix helping to boost it.

I can imagine Becky's album appealing to a similar audience as Jess Glynne, she's a decent enough name to attract some casual sales so I'd be surprised if she wasn't top 10 as a minimum.

Posted by: dannjohn 18th August 2021, 02:07 PM

is 'traitor' a single? Why is it so high?

Posted by: ___∆___ 18th August 2021, 02:08 PM

I think people are underestimating Becky Hill - she will definitely be Top 10, I’m sure she’ll go all out on promo and price reductions in week 1, she has already announced 2 HMV signings so that’s 1,000 sales in the bag already.

Any updates for maneskin?thanks

Posted by: Bjork 18th August 2021, 02:20 PM

of course top 10 is doable, just takes 3K, even all those re-issues on vinyl of crappy old albums are doing it
but ew were discussing if Becky Hill could go to #1, which I think she won't...

Boo at Tones losing out on the Top 10 to KSI deadwood

Posted by: Ho-Lee Smokes 18th August 2021, 02:46 PM

I don’t think Becky will go to #1 but I expect Remember to be top 3 during album release week, possibly top two! The album will debut top five I think especially as the only album out in next two weeks really is Kanye!

Aren’t Jake Bugg and Lorde releasing next week - I’d imagine both of them could go top 5 too

The Killers sales slowing down now since the last update but hopefully they can hit 25k, i think Becky Hill Hill will lose the number 3 to Jonasu with how things are looking.

Becky's gone from 600 ahead of Jonasu to 1.3k ahead, I'm not sure that's how things are looking at all tongue.gif

I just thought with Jonasu rising on itunes that it may indicate it may close the gap, id love becky to hold the number 3.
