Absolutely ecstatic at OOTW being announced as the next single. Really hope we get another brillkant video for it and not just some lazy tour footage video. I agree that it's possibly a bit too late into the era for it to have any real effect, but at this point I'd be happy with top 40.

Best song on the album for me. Over the moon! I hope the video doesn't disappoint! (although I can see it being similar to Style)

I won't hold my breath but imagine a Calvin Harris remix of OOTW?

Thank gosh for that, one of the three standouts on the album that hasn't been released as a single yet so great choice
Hopefully she can get an X-Factor final performance with this! |

To be honest I still wouldn't mind if All You Had To Do Was Stay, Wonderland, How You Get The Girl and New Romantics were all released... I'm sure the radios probably would mind though.

How You Get the Girl should've been released ages ago. Absolute tune.

"New Romantics" should have been released. OOTW is blegh and repetitive.

i must be in a piss-poor mood today. Listen! Kelly Clarkson had, and still has, better pipes than the highly-overrated Taylor Swift.

Just watched the 1989 World Tour on Apple Music, what an absolutely fantastic show it was! The way it was filmed was absolutely fantastic, visually stunning. With lots of mini-interviews and clips of special guests from other tours included too, the film runs at over 2 hours but it went so so quickly!
Taylor was incredible as expected, there were lots of highlights and I can't list them all but a few of the surprises were the performances of I Know Places (this had such a great production and concept, I can now envisage this as a hit single!), You Are In Love (the involvement of the crowd was mesmerising) and Wildest Dreams/Enchanted (I'd forgot these two were mashed up, and it was fantastic). And Out of the Woods at the end was a major goosebumps moment, and Shake It Off in the encore was insanely good. All the performances combined with what was like a mini documentary makes this so so worth the £9.99 Apple Music membership for a month, so I'd really recommend you do so and give this a watch. I hope it gets released on DVD too next year as I'd love to have it to keep! |

Apparently New Romantics is the 7th single to be released from 1989, according to Java Joel Murphy. Not sure how accurate this is so I've hesitated on making a thread for it. Would be good if it's true though, as it's my favourite AT along with All You Had to Do Was Stay

With it being summer 2016, I've been thinking about what to expect from Taylor in terms of new music. Of course long-time fans know that in the past she has stuck to a consistent release strategy with a lead single in July/August and an album following in October/November on every even numbered year since 2006. That would of course mean that sticking to that strategy would mean a new single within the next 2 months.
As 1989 was such a massive era and the longest era she has had, I can't see her sticking to that strategy this time round unfortunately. I think the next studio album will probably appear in late 2017 with a lead single in the summer, so the same strategy but just a year late. But, after reading other forums too, I think it would be absolutely perfect for Taylor to release a Greatest Hits album for this year. She could still give us a new single in August/September and a Greatest Hits album seems like the perfect way to celebrate 10 years since her first album release seeing as she won't have time for a full album. Rumour has it that her original contract with Big Machine was either five or six studio albums AND a greatest hits album, so what better time to tick that greatest hits album off this year? I really hope this happens, I can't go an even numbered year without a single new Taylor song and with her at the peak of her popularity (probably ever, 1989 was a once-in-a-career album era like Teenage Dream was for Katy) it would be the perfect time to introduce her country songs to an audience that won't be as familiar with them bar the Love Storys and the You Belong With Mes of course. Go on Taylor you know you want to! |
