She doesn't always do amazing movies but she can really pull it out of the bag when she's in the right sort of role. All three of these are win-worthy performances in my opinion
For me:
1 Jackie
2 Black Swan
3 Closer
I'm still so shocked she wasn't a bigger contender this year for that tour de force performance in Jackie, she nailed the real life of mannerisms of her and instead we got one of the lightest and least deserving winners in years (in my opinion!!!). You can't deny her win for Black Swan either and she would actually be a 2x winner already if I ran the Oscars tbh, she helps add loads to the on edge feeling of the film and she does crying really well too I liked her a lot in Closer too and she was my favourite of the four main cast members, she was vulnerable at times but exuded confidence at other times, a really interesting performance in my opinion. I've only seen Laura Linney from this year so I can't say if she would be my winner really but I did prefer her of the two I've seen. I'd like to see The Aviator and Sideways too so I can make a better judgement.
Closer or Black Swan
I totally forgot about Closer being nominated for her
Black Swan >>>>>
She was UTTERLY ESSENTIAL in both Black Swan and Jackie and should have won for both. If she were only to have won for one it should have been Jackie to be honest. She utterly inhabited Jackie and devoured every scene. She was obviously sublime in Black Swan too playing what was a very layered character. I think she does strong but unstable better than almost anyone. Her size and beauty allows her to portray fragility with ease, but she has such a commanding presence at the same time. One of my very favourite actresses.
Closer is good, but she was still honing her craft at that point, so a worthy nomination but definitely the least good of the 3.
