You sound so excited like the rest of us! rolleyes.gif

Maybe his next single will be good instead.

Posted by: JosephCarey 11th December 2016, 10:40 PM

Sounded pretty good to me on the show so excited to hear the studio version!

Posted by: Snaking Stevens 11th December 2016, 10:55 PM

They are doing a Christmas song this year (sorry don't watch the show)

I think this is a much better idea than.just another dull ballad. Will have to listen to it.

Posted by: mr_pmt 11th December 2016, 10:57 PM

It's a bit dull... but I commend them for actually putting in effort for the first time ever.

I assume what happened with last year's one scared them into action.

Posted by: bah... humbug... 11th December 2016, 10:59 PM

Yep...an original track at least, but hardly ground breaking, it will tank in week 3

Well it is a Christmas song I assume so once Christmas is over it shall plummet extremely fast along with Mariah and The Pogues

Posted by: JosephCarey 11th December 2016, 11:06 PM

Out on iTunes now!

Posted by: Noahspicicle 11th December 2016, 11:27 PM

Interested to hear the studio version as wasn't sure what to make of this live. Thought Matt's inaugural performance fell a bit flat (not that all songs are tailored to that particular context), but there seemed to be a good melody and sentiment there. Really clever of the show to push a Christmas track anyhow with it giving them both a decent shot at #1 and a ready-made justification for its collapse!

Posted by: jase. 11th December 2016, 11:39 PM

Like him but this is utter crap mellow.gif

Posted by: Slick 11th December 2016, 11:40 PM

The recorded version is much more pleasant than his performance of it.

Posted by: Steve201 12th December 2016, 12:06 AM

Doesn't really sound Xmassy on first listen just a ballad with the word Xmas in it lol!

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 12th December 2016, 12:12 AM

Its not a bad song, the chorus us memorable. Im just delighted they have finally got a new song for the winner, i would have loved to have heard Sarras version.

! ! !

No Matt Terry porno links, please.
I understand some have 'stumbled' upon such links where he a few years ago ventured into that sleazy world and doffed his knickers.

Yes, I hear he's performing a*** s**

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 12th December 2016, 12:37 AM

He will have to do serious promo to make up ground, i think a top 5 would be a good result if he can manage it.

Posted by: Nick F1 12th December 2016, 12:40 AM

i like it, some remixes will build up the song for sure

Posted by: 🎄cqmerqn🎄 12th December 2016, 12:41 AM

Oh for god sakes laugh.gif

Posted by: Liаm 12th December 2016, 12:57 AM

It's a nice enough song but like I'd much rather Ed just sang it laugh.gif It feels like a song Ed didn't think was good enough for his album and Simon Cowell went rooting through the bins to find it and gave it to Matt. At best if it was his he'd give it away free on the week of Christmas or something. It's not a song that would suit either of the finalists and it's not much more exciting or different than the usual cover tbh, but it's nice to have an original and Christmas song in the charts rather than a tepid cover of an old song I guess.

Posted by: 🏆award🏆inary 12th December 2016, 01:37 AM

In terms of X Factor Winners, I think I prefer the voice of Matt Cardle to Matt Terry.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 12th December 2016, 02:22 AM

Matt Cardle i would rate 100 times better than Matt Terry. I would love to see Matt Cardle do what James Arthur has managed.

This is shit.

Posted by: Tinasha 12th December 2016, 09:48 AM

I know the Winner's singles don't generally have the most longevity, but I do think it's odd to give Matt a song that has a 2 week shelf life by choosing a Christmas song...

Posted by: Santas Haz 12th December 2016, 10:33 AM

It's a lovely song

Posted by: Frosty Xmas Baps 12th December 2016, 10:34 AM

It confused me at first too tbh then I realised it's to avoid a rerun of last year where the single had three weeks top 75. They must realise the show is well past its heyday so that the best way to go is to anticipate the short chartlife by making it artificially short anyway. They are also DESPERATE for Christmas no.1 to stop the press having a field day saying the show is over after last year.

I know, its just crazy, I really don't know what they were thinking, Ed Sheeran could have released it himself and had a #1 with it.

Posted by: Dancember 12th December 2016, 12:36 PM

It make sense though. Releasing a Christmas song is the best chance they have of getting the Christmas #1 again.

Matt Terry doing porno this week could potentially help too laugh.gif

Posted by: Steve201 12th December 2016, 02:16 PM

If Ed Sheeran had released this under his name on the 1st December it would have been HUGE - probably immediately A Listed by all the radio stations and straight in at no1 and 4 weeks there imo!

Posted by: Dancember 12th December 2016, 02:20 PM

Maybe but he probably got paid a lot to write the song for The X Factor winner, and it's not like he's losing relevance and desperately needs a hit single right now.

Posted by: BrookeOlivia 12th December 2016, 04:34 PM

Wasn't simon's label taken Ed to court over his song sounding alot like Matt Cardle's earlier in the year? Then Ed's wrote the winner single, I think more chance simon saying we will stop the court case etc if you write the single for free because I haven't heard nothing of this court case since, And abit fishy how Ed would be writing the winners single for a label that is currently sueing him.

Dont know just a thought.

Posted by: Dancember 12th December 2016, 04:48 PM

I thought it was the songwriters that were suing Ed rather than the label, but I guess that could've been a possibility.

Posted by: Frosty Xmas Baps 12th December 2016, 05:14 PM

Why IS Simon Cowell so obsessed with monopolising the Christmas number one anyway? It makes no sense, especially after Rage Against The Machine when he ACTED so contrite and promised to not go after it again for usurping a British tradition ...

Posted by: Snaking Stevens 12th December 2016, 05:38 PM

The violins remind me a bit of Passenger - Let Her Go, just the sound not the melody.

He's not. He hasn't been after the xmas #1 since Rage, and has left it for bland charity covers to get there instead of XF covers. It's not to get Christmas #1 at all. I think it's more about how much cheaper it is to go for a shorter shelf life (won't have to bother with a video for example, no physical CD available). Plus if it only goes 14-9-56-OUT they have an excuse. Unlike last year.

Posted by: slowdown73 12th December 2016, 07:03 PM

On the bright side, releasing an unknown Christmas track shows a bit of originality but it's still not particularly great.

Posted by: Tinasha 13th December 2016, 09:37 AM

In terms of Ed writing the winner's single. I think it's more likely that Ed wrote it for himself or someone else and didn't use it and the X Factor bought it off him. Obviously they've advertised it insinuating that he wrote it especially, because that helps.

Yeah he probably wrote it, didn't want to use it, but thought he may as well make a bit of money from it anyway

Amy Wadge ‏@Wadge Dec 11
Here's the thing @edsheeran & I wrote a song a few wks ago Ed sent it to @SimonCowell and now it's the winners single on tonight's X factor

this has grown on me so much. Love it.

It's probably doing better than Louisa's as it's an original Christmas song. Louisa seemed more popular I agree.

This is actually growing on me quite a bit biggrin.gif I mean, I'll probably have forgotten it by next Christmas, but it's good for now
