It's definitely coming! ohmy.gif

And it's now available for pre-order of iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/your-song/id1236109564

Elton John teas

Maybe it's a cover of Jasmine Thompson covering Ellie Goulding covering Elton John? ohmy.gif

In all srsness tho, I'm rather excited for this. Hope she doesn't go R&B like Body On Me was.

Posted by: ~josh~ 12th May 2017, 04:29 PM

Yaaaay, hyped at this FINALLY happening! She's basically put out banger after banger since Hot Right Now so I have high hopes for this. Hope it's an undeniable smash like IWNLYD to get the public to take some notice too.

Body On Me is her second best track for me though, mdh! heart.gif

I liked the track, but I FAR prefer pure pop Rita heart.gif

Posted by: cqmerqn 12th May 2017, 04:31 PM

A pure pop song is what I want but it will obviously be R&B.

Posted by: Cremey 12th May 2017, 04:32 PM

Echoing the FINALLY comments.
Really hoping the break doesn't cost her too much in terms of success, I want this comeback to be HUGE.

Posted by: cqmerqn 12th May 2017, 04:34 PM

She'll get a ton of R1 support.

Posted by: Yeasty Clutch 12th May 2017, 04:37 PM

Lmao she is finally coming, coincidentally, after Calvin allowed her to use the music again!!

Talentless.

Also, I don't think a dance cover of the Ellie Goulding version of Elton John's Your Song is gonna work at all tbh :/

That's like Jonas Blue's niche.

Lmao at her doing a Calvin Harris remix version of Ellie Goulding's pop version of Elton John's Your Song!!

Steppin on Jonas Blue's toes!!!

Don't tell me we've been waiting so long for a new Rita single and it turns out to be an Elton John cover version laugh.gif

Posted by: JosephStyles🐶 12th May 2017, 06:52 PM

It's not a cover, it's apparently co-written by Ed Sheeran and Steve Mac!

Posted by: Jonjo 12th May 2017, 06:54 PM

Yup!

QUOTE
"Your Song has everything I wanted to express: it’s a song that’s full of positivity and about feeling on top of the world, like everything is going right and that’s where my life is right now,” Rita tells a press release. “I loved working with Ed and Steve; it was incredible to really bring this idea to life with some of the most talented songwriters of our time. Ed and I have been friends since our teens, it’s brilliant to have the opportunity to collaborate with him for my first single, we definitely click creatively.”

A very small snippet of what I assume to be the start of the song is on Rita's insta, sounds promising just from that.

But 'Body On Me' wasn't R&B? If anything, musically it was a carbon copy of Nick Jonas - Jealous.

I think it's sounding more 'Symphony', but I think it'll fit really nicely in between both 'Symphony' and 'Cheap Thrills'!

I am SO excited for this tomorrow! (Hopefully today!)

COME ON RITA. GRAB THAT 5th NUMBER 1! *.*

Posted by: Ryan. 25th May 2017, 12:54 PM

It's very radio-friendly, it doesn't quite have that all-out chorus I would like but it has an earworm quality that I imagine will really settle in after a few listens. Very carefree and summery though!

Posted by: Cremey 25th May 2017, 01:21 PM

I like the verses a lot more than the chorus. It's not as huge as I was hoping it'd be but I'm loving it all the same.
I'm a few listens in and I can see it being stuck in my head for the rest of the day. And yeah, carefree and summery for sure!

So good to have her back ❤️

Posted by: Jonjo 25th May 2017, 01:32 PM

I really love it.

Yeah, I understand the comments about the chorus being not as "grand" or as "big" but I really love it.

BIG HIT PLEASE!

Edit: thanks for the PM's <3 I love it! wub.gif

Posted by: Cremey 25th May 2017, 02:33 PM

Okay I'm already obsessed with this.
I don't like when she sings 'kiss your lips' in the second verse though, you can just tell that's the way Ed sang it and it puts me off, haha.

Can't fathom the praise for this laugh.gif I can see it being a grower but after 2 listens it's left next to no impression on me.

Posted by: Jay ☆ 26th May 2017, 05:15 AM

It's not love on first listen, but it's a pleasant track and I can see it worming its way into my affections soon!

Posted by: cqmerqn 26th May 2017, 05:58 AM

Is Ed Sheeran on this? Whoever it is ruins it a bit

Posted by: mdh (ft. Quavo) 26th May 2017, 06:26 AM

I'm just happy she's gone for a pop banger instead of going R&B again cheer.gif

On first listen I can see this being a grower, but I feel like the chorus will end up as quite the earworm.

Posted by: ~josh~ 26th May 2017, 06:35 AM

This is a catchy little tune and definitely an earworm of a chorus as others have said. I do wish it was a little more explosive like IWNLYD is but it still sounds like it could be a massive hit! I do hope we get a couple R&B tracks on the album in a similar style to Body On Me though (lol, if we EVER get an album that is).

Posted by: blacksquare 26th May 2017, 07:48 AM

This is so basic - keep it.

Posted by: SevenSeize 26th May 2017, 01:05 PM

I do like quite a few past Ora singles but this is pish- more inoffensive semi-tropical for the spotify charts + where's the chorus zzz.gif

Posted by: Martyn 26th May 2017, 04:26 PM

It's cute but so Ed it hurts.

Posted by: J▲hq 26th May 2017, 04:49 PM

'Pleasant' and 'nice' are exactly the words to describe it. IWNLYD and Poison >>

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 26th May 2017, 04:54 PM

It's not bad! To me it sounds like a pop Clean Bandit.

Posted by: troylovesmusic 26th May 2017, 05:10 PM

Really liking this it's so breezy and feel good !

Posted by: TMD_24Quavo 26th May 2017, 07:35 PM

Sounds like Sheeran is on backing vocals again if you listen to the Chorus.

Posted by: FezVez 26th May 2017, 07:37 PM

I love it!

Posted by: JosephStyles🐶 26th May 2017, 09:49 PM

This really is worming its way up my affections with each play wub.gif

Posted by: Roba 26th May 2017, 09:56 PM

it's nice, certainly a lot more chilled than what I was expecting from her after two years away but it's definitely a smash I think despite using the tired tropical sound that's been infecting everyone's music in the past year. it's instant as well for me. obviously it's no 'I Will Never Let You Down' but it'll do!

Posted by: Cremey 27th May 2017, 11:37 AM

Can't get enough of this. Don't even want to know how many times I've played it already 🙃
Absolutely adore the artwork too 👌🏼

Posted by: ReyOfSpunShine 28th May 2017, 12:28 AM

I really like it! It feels like ages since I've properly enjoyed a Rita Ora song heart.gif

Posted by: Dobbo 29th May 2017, 04:01 PM

This is awful. At least Poison was catchy.

Posted by: Yeasty Clutch 29th May 2017, 04:09 PM

Reminds me of Poison or IWNLYD, chillednouy rnb vibed pop. It's a solid niche and sets her apart. I like it!

Thanks to Jonjo and Cremey for the link too.

Posted by: jase. 29th May 2017, 10:33 PM

where's the chorus?! laugh.gif

Posted by: Cremey 29th May 2017, 11:15 PM

🙄🙄🙄

This is already one of my songs of the year.

Posted by: Liаm 29th May 2017, 11:29 PM

Still really not getting this, I've given it countless chances but I just find it too basic and doesn't go anywhere. It's alright to the point I wouldn't change the station if it was on the radio and would probably bop if I was in a good mood or drunk, but it's the least I've liked a single of hers where she's the lead (obviously the meh ones like that New York one and Lay Down Your Weapons are worse).

Posted by: Mr. C. Joel 29th May 2017, 11:38 PM

I love it! I love Rita too but it's disappointing she doesn't have a defined sound.

I feel like every release is totally different and I haven't worked out if its a good or bad thing laugh.gif

Posted by: jark 30th May 2017, 09:04 PM

Really? I feel it's a very natural evolution of the Let You Down / Poison sound. Great single.

Her 1 Big Weekend set was so phenomenal.

Posted by: Yeasty Clutch 30th May 2017, 09:18 PM

That's because it is. Her style now is basic throwaway mellow pop. It won't last the ages but it will keep a fanbase so propa to her. It is very of the moment, designed for radio, inoffensive pop.

Yeah this is going to smash. Will 100% guaranteed be a top 3 hit.

Posted by: burbe 1st June 2017, 02:19 PM

This has been such a well managed comeback so far! I don't think it will hit #1 but surely a big top 3 is on the cards with how well it's held up this first week?! Almost top 20 on Spotify already is quite amazing for her.

Posted by: JosephStyles🐶 1st June 2017, 02:22 PM

This is coming for a top 15 debut which is VERY impressive I think, considering Body On Me didn't make the top 20 at any point and Coming Home failed to debut top 40! Hopefully it can hit the top 10 next week and keep climbing from there.

Posted by: Liаm 2nd June 2017, 01:10 PM

Ok this has finally properly hit me *.* The more I listen to this, the more it really feels "her" which I feel about I Will Never Let You Down as well rather than her earlier work (although Radioactive and How We Do are still my faves from here alongside I Will Never Let You Down). It's refreshing that this is just a breezy pop song not trying to be anything else.

It's because she's now on the Atlantic label, part of the Warner Music Group. Their artists don't use Vevo channels for some reason!

I got that vibe too. 'Your Song' sounds so light and summery and I expected something to match, not Rita's version of 'Notorious' with dull colours and cloudy skies.

Posted by: cqmerqn 26th June 2017, 05:15 PM

I echo this.

Could be its final shot at going top 10 this week! Seems pretty likely it'll move up to 10.

Posted by: mqh 26th June 2017, 05:28 PM

#1 on Hot Hits UK, I'm feeling quite certain it'll be able to snatch a top 10 placing - which will be a great result for a comeback single.

Posted by: cqmerqn 26th June 2017, 05:30 PM

Before release, I predicted that she'll flop in at a #32 peak!

Posted by: Cremey 26th June 2017, 06:13 PM

Yeah I'm thinking it could be finally top 10 this week! Fingers crossed anyway.
One of my songs of the year so obvs I would prefer it to be a multi week number 1 but it's done really well for her considering how long she's been away / how shoddily handled her music career has been since the first album.

I actually LOVE the video. I was expecting a bright, summery video too but I think this one actually really suits the song too! Plus she looks incredible and comes across as such a star, she really should be up there with the huge pop girls in my opinion.

She does look stunning in the video, but it's ridiculous.

Posted by: cq(uavo)merqn 1st July 2017, 10:10 PM

Anyone else shocked at how well this is doing? I really thought her chart career was over as she was on The X Factor as a judge. She was seen as a celebrity rather than a singer! Maybe she has Nick Grimshaw to thank. kink.gif

Posted by: JosephStyles 1st July 2017, 10:13 PM

I was starting to get worried after Body On Me underperforming and her not releasing anything in about a year and a half, so I'm pretty surprised too that she's come back with a top 10 hit in this day and age! Very impressed, and pleased, can't wait for the album (when it eventually comes laugh.gif).

Posted by: cq(uavo)merqn 1st July 2017, 10:24 PM

Well IIRC, the release for Body On Me was very messy, and it was her first OA/OS single after all.

Poison is incredible - easily one of the best songs of 2015. I do hope she has some killer singles like it for this campaign as I do like this, but isn't in the same boat as Poison just yet!

Posted by: ML Hammer95 21st July 2017, 07:59 AM

'Poison' was crap though, no redeeming features about that one.

She's performing this, a new version of "I Will Never Let You Down" and a cover of "Like a Virgin" mashed up with a Travis Scott song in the Live Lounge from 12pm.

As much as I love her/this song, I really wish she'd move on and give us the damn album already! sad.gif I'm happy for "Lonely Together" to smash right now but she NEEDS to release another solo single before 2017 is over!

I'll believe it when I see it on Spotify. Honestly her record label are ridiculous, I don't know why you wouldn't want to capitalise on the success of 8th biggest song of the summer... It's not as if she's got a good track record for singles with good longevity either...

Interesting choice of mash-up. Decent performance overall.
