We've already had 10 - how many will we end up with?

I remember 4 passing a million in 1998 and thinking how impressive that was. Now we're getting singles going into double figures doing that. It just doesn't seem the same though, given that most of the sales are from streams rather than people actually going into shops and actually buying the record...

I can see another 4 at least getting there in the next 10 weeks, so gone with 14.

My Guess would be 17-18, projecting forward the figures I've calculated.

Too many considering none of them have managed to get a million people to part money for them.

11 - 990,000 - Justin Timberlake - Can't Stop The Feeling
12 - 984,000 - Fifth Harmony - Work From Home
14 - 936,000 - Callum Scott - Dancing On My Own

I would be stunned if these 3 don't all pass a million, so at the very least 13. I also think James Arthur will pass a million, and possibly the X Factor single if it's a strong one. At least 17, I would say.

James Arthur and Little Mix could happen next year but not on this year calendar.

I'd say around 14 or 15. However, in my eyes, none of them are million sellers since most of their "sales" come from being listened to, and not bought.

Just to be pedantic - surely people who buy songs also listen to them. wink.gif

We now have 15, with two more certain (Major Lazer-CW & JB-S), and James Arthur might just make it too.

Yeah but whether the 100:1 ratio is the most appropriate way of converting streams to sales is debatable (and has been debated at length here already!)

I think the ratio is fine and understand it must have been a very long meeting for the OCC when deciding it - it seems to have worked OK in terms of how the chart works IMO.

I said 17/18 - James Arthur should just get there too!

He's still selling 35-45k a week and should do well in gift card week so that should push him over a million!
