New music from him (either "Blinding Lights", "Heartless" or both) will be out tomorrow night.
It seems that "Heartless" will be out tomorrow and "Blinding Lights" on Friday. The latter is part of the campaign with Mercedes Benz.
Was wondering when he'd be back. I'm expecting him to dominate the charts then when the album is released. Hoping for either a repeat of very early Trilogy sounds or something like Starboy would be passable too ~
Wow the big releases just keep coming in Q4! Looking forward to hearing this.
"Heartless" is out now.
This is awful, just horrendous. I can't believe that I liked him back in the day, and a lot! I guess we all change.
Heard a leak of Blinding Lights out on Friday and it's actually really, really good! Mad 80s synth vibes, and I'm pretty sure that's the one that's getting a push.
yes at least Blinding Lights is more upbeat and energetic
he really needed to step up his game
So I see that this era will also be completely shit judging by both of the songs. Fun.
'Heartless' is sooooo disappointing. He has done that song 6 times before an better. Also, the lyrics are a bit of a snooze. He really opened himself up on 'My Dear Melancholy' and this seems so degenerate in comparison.
'Blinding Lights' is a little better but still... disappointing.
"Blinding Lights" is available too.
nd of course they're pushing the wrong single
I'm liking both of these way more than I expected tbh (wasn't really that impressed by anything I heard from 'My Dear Melancholy,', 'Lost In The Fire' was complete garbage and 'Power Is Power' was just a much weaker version of 'Pray For Me' so it's been a while since I've really been enthusiastic about The Weeknd) - 'Blinding Lights' is definitely the better of these two, loving the 80s vibes! 'Heartless' is good too if a little similar to a lot of his other singles (that instrumental is great tho) x
They're not as bad as I expected either. Neither are amazing but I do like both to an extent, Blinding Lights a bit more than the other one. They do sound like they could just be lifted from Starboy though.
'Heartless' has gone to #1 in the US in its first full week (his fourth #1 following 'Can't Feel My Face', 'The Hills' and 'Starboy') The points needed to get to #1 have been very low the last few weeks but even so I didn't realise The Weeknd was doing well enough to get there. 'Blinding Lights' has debuted at only #11 in comparison, surprised there is such a large gap between them.
"Heartless" might be aided because it came out first and got the radio push, "Blinding Lights" just isn't being played which is gonna hold it back.
^yes thats the difference, Blinding Lights gets 0 points from airplay
while Heartless got 25 million spins
The Weeknd is officially a record breaker!
He breaks the record for fastest fall from number one as Heartless drops to 17.
Oops!
maybe Mariah will beat the record when she falls from #1 after Xmas
It appears that the factor that may have pushed 'Heartless' to #1 was him offering a ton of merch bundles for the single to drive up the pure sales (like Travis Scott did for 'HIGHEST IN THE ROOM', but he at least avoided having THIS embarrassing of a drop the following week). I really hope this isn't going to end up being as pervasive a problem on the Hot 100 as it is on the BB200...
'Blinding Lights' has unfortunately also collapsed this week though (down 11-52), not helped by the dual onslaught of Christmas songs and Juice WRLD re-entries but there's no dressing up that these are pretty bad drops no matter how many excuses. I hope they can recover a bit, I've grown to really like both of these songs.
'Heartless' is absolute trash
'Blinding Lights' is absolutely brilliant
Really loving Blinding Lights at the moment! Heartless is alright.
I just discovered Blinding Lights. It's awesome.
Indeed Blinding Lights is very good, reminds me of Pat Benetar - Love Is A Battlefield from the 80s a bit for some reason which is a very good thing
Both 'Heartless' and 'Blinding Lights' sounding great from The Weeknd.
Blinding Lights just might be his best since the mixtape trilogy! I think it might be my song of the year so far (I know it was 2019 but I missed it til now).
How did I sleep on blinding lights for so long! Tune
do we know when the album is out? haven't read anything
Looks like the Blinding Lights video might be coming tomorrow.
The video is indeed coming today!
This is such a great song atm.
This is so A-Ha - Take On Me, which I love it <3
One of his best!!!
I like Blinding Lights but it's essentially a Starboy album track - it's basically False Alarm part 2.
'Blinding Lights' is really good. Deserved the #1 spot in The Netherlands, and surely many other countries.
I hope he leaves 'Heartless' off of the album. Talk about redundant and done 20 times before (by himself).
Absolutely that 'Blinding Lights' has become his first UK #1. Fully deserved from him. 'Blinding Lights' what a song it is from him.
The album is going to be called After Hours
Yay for the album being announced! Looking forward to it already.
The title track will be out tonight.
The title track is out now.
The album will be out March 20 and it's going to have 14 songs.
this is probably the best thing he's put out since the Trilogy.
So here for this - I’m still obsessed with ‘Blinding Lights’
LOVE THAT. I'm suddenly so much more optimistic for this album after that and Blinding Lights.
is this a proper single or just a buzz track?
I think Blinding Lights is great and I like it
but it's basically a clone of False Alarm from the last album
so it's not like he's started suddenly changing his sound
Very different to Blinding Lights but also sounding brilliant on first listen! This looks like yet another very promising album!
UK tour for later this year!!!
11 October - O2 Arena, London
12 October - O2 Arena, London
13 October - O2 Arena, London
15 October - Utilita Arena, Newcastle
16 October - Birmingham Arena
18 October - SSE Hydro, Glasgow
19 October - Manchester Arena
Tickets on sale 28th February. Definitely wanting to go to this
'After Hours' is the most instant song from this project for me so far
He is so talented. My favorite song - Starboy. He is so good there. But now I don't like his style.
The album is available now.
"In Your Eyes" is the next single.
What the hell is that first half of the album. Drum n bass the house 🤕
Oneohtrix Point Ever co-produced Scared to Live... which is so far the worst song he’s done. Sounds so dated and nothingy to me.
Great lyrics.
“But if I OD, I want you to OD right beside me” 🥴😳
Let’s just say After Hours was probably a fluke. Nothing is coming even close.
Another throwaway album but at least he tried something new. The whole thing feels very disjointed to me. Drum n bass, rnb, 80s and 90s influences all in one.
This is great, his most mature work arguably.
Was really looking forward to this but it's disappointing on first listen. It all just washed over me.
I'll give it a couple more chances as his stuff does usually grow on me but I can't remember anything outwith the singles at the moment.
I'm finding it mostly very instant — especially the second half of the album. The production and melodies are really great, but the lyrics...
I could easily put this on and be swept up in it all without really listening to what he's saying — which isn't much beyond occasionally empty and repetitive platitudes.
If anything Blinding Lights is a direct copy and paste from one of the A-ha songs a few years ago...
Yeah, I’m finding the second half to be much much better. It has some evidence that The Weeknd hasn’t completely lost his touch.
Yes! It's very similar to something like Forest Fire or Riding the Crest.
a-ha
Overall I think I still prefer Starboy as an album but the middle part of this album is brilliant and exactly what I want from him.
Some really standouts too. My favourites being Snowchild, Faith & Save Your Tears.
Save Your Tears is THAT song
but I read his label boss saying the album had another huge potential single that was gonna be as big a Blinding Lights
really cannot see which track he was referring to?
False Alarm sounds nothing like Blinding Lights!
It always sounded quite Bloc Party-esque to me, which Blinding Lights...doesn’t.
I’m actually quite liking this after not caring much about his last couple of albums.
I think it’s pretty clear he’s going in a different direction to Trilogy so it’s best to just take it as it is I think haha
In Your Eyes sounds huge to me.
Ready to hear that sax everywhere
I wonder if they meant Save Your Tears?
Love a pop sax!
Did the ‘Your Song’ interpolation on ‘Scared to Live’ take anyone else completely by surprise?
Everything from (and ofc including) Blinding Lights is fantastic! So, SO good! It's hardly surprising when reading that Max Martin is involved in a few of them/the 2 main highlights away from BL.
The first half is ok, but I think I'll appreciate it more with more listens as it's not terrible/unlistenable just not very memorable for me. Hardest To Love though... stunning
I actually kept thinking of 'False Alarm' when I first heard 'Blinding Lights' too.
Just found out that Mario Winans has a writing and production credit on the track 'After Hours'. How random.
If IYE becomes a big hit, we need The Edge of Glory back on charts too with that sax.
The 2nd half of the album is really good and I enjoyed Scared To Live as well. In Your Eyes is defintley the right choice for the next single
Midnight City aghast.
I’m so ready to hear this.
My physical hasn’t arrived but as soon as I get in from work tomorrow I’ll be streaming this in full.
It’s all about In Your Eyes
hahaha yes Lady Gaga invented the sax
not crazy about Scared to Feel, the Elton John sample was unnecessary
Since Pavel mentioned it, I can’t not hear a-ha in Blinding Lights. This is no bad thing at all. If Morton feels like making a cover then that would be just great.
damit, now I'm hearing A-ha too
it's not just me, heard the same many times afterwards from many different people
The sax in 'In Your Eyes' is giving me life.
I’m on my first listen and the first four tracks have all been very strong!
I’m a fan of the production and it’s different to Starboy too!
Will post a longer post with my thoughts on each track once I’ve heard them all but so far so good.
In Your Eyes is a bop
Hardest to Love and Scared to Live also stood out.
My favourite 2020 album so far! And my favourite Male artist right now too
What a KING
mmm 'In Your Eyes'
Was hoping it was going to be cherry-picked more but as always the first songs in the album are the most popular. Hoping it can be a hit in its own right as Blinding Lights as been a bit of a monster hit and I'm unsure anything would catch on alongside it.
Also 'Heartless' is sounding a lot better in the context of the album thankfully.
Haha yeah I immediately thought of Take On Me when I first heard Blinding Lights, I just assumed everyone else did too :’)
The second half of the album is better than the first, I agree with those comments. It's a solid album and I can see myself returning to it.
In Your Eyes is SUBLIME. Faith another favourite ~
Deluxe version out now, including four remixes and the SNL version of "Scared To Live".
Aside from In Your Eyes I really feel in the minority here. The first four tracks were my favourites so I’m feeling the first half more than the second off just initial listens.
He’s unsurprisingly UK #1 so far in the midweeks.
He’s unsurprisingly UK #1 so far in the midweeks.
The RIGHT choice for the next single
In Your Eyes is an amazinggg song from a very good album.
Save Your Tears is soooo good.
His pop/dance/synth stuff is ALWAYS so much better than his dark, dreary self indulgent stuff.
things people will do for money
Finally got my copy from HMV this morning - love the fact that it has a different cover and included a 7” vinyl The album is immense - wasn’t sure on first listen but absolutely love it now.
Finally got my copy from HMV this morning - love the fact that it has a different cover and included a 7” vinyl The album is immense - wasn’t sure on first listen but absolutely love it now.
I was enjoying this so much that I snapped up a splattered white and red collector's vinyl off his store when I was half way through *.* The first three songs are such a strong start, definitely not getting the comments about the start of the album being weak! I found the genre-blending to be an enjoyable surprise, having not read a lot about the album beforehand. My favourite discovery of the the lot was 'Alone Again'. <3 'Faith' was my favourite of the second half. 'In My Eyes' definitely makes sense as the next single as it was sounding like one of the most commercial songs left. Consider me sold on this album, I suspect it'll be a new fave for me to listen to at Halloween
Title track >>> when it comes to the whole project but it was going to take a LOT to top that
'Faith', 'Hardest To Love', 'Save Your Tears' and 'Alone Again' are my biggest standouts from the album tracks - I can defo see why 'In Your Eyes' is the song people are latching onto the most and I did think that was good as well although I think 'Save Your Tears' sounds like it could be a good single choice too if he does end up pushing any more songs after the album release.
V impressed with the album as a whole (tracks 4-6 were a bit of a lull but it was great before and after that x).
Hardest To Love and Scared To Live omfgggg
Jade we went for the opposite ones, I’ve gone for the black and red version
The king of 2020 now has his second UK #1 album.
Well deserved
Three new songs ("Nothing Compares", "Missed You" and "Final Lullaby") out tonight at midnight EDT / tomorrow at 5am. BST.
New deluxe version with these three new tracks plus the four previously released remixes and the live version of "Scared To Live" out now.
Wonder if it was always the plan to release those three new tracks now or if it's to help streaming whilst physicals and TV promo are on hold?
'Nothing Compares' slaps.
I’m always happy for new Weeknd music but when his album come out just last week and he does this!
I’m guessing and hoping these will be just streaming only tracks. If they get added to the actual CD of this when I’ve just bought it I swear
The new tracks are all pretty forgettable. They should have just been left off the album completely.
I’ve caved and bought the three new tracks on iTunes!
Will listen to the entire album again with the new tracks later tonight
I will say that The Weeknd IS that Male artist for me though! I just think he’s so talented, such a great singer and I love the switch ups he’s done in both image and musical style too. He deserves all the success that’s going to come his way.
Blinding Lights is now #1 on the BB Hot 100
Excellent, really happy about that given the below par Heartless got these and BL didn't at first!
In Your Eyes has to be my song of the year so far. Incredible
More remixes on a separate EP are coming on Friday
Lmao, I can see why these three tracks were bonus track exscluives. 3 borefests of songs and really not needed. Don't think i'll be returning to them, when the standard album works so well as a complete package.
Completely agree, I took a listen yesterday and they all sounded exactly the same to me with no real melody.
I do quite like some of the remixes, the Blaze version of the title track is a fave.
Nothing Compares is fantastic!! And I like Final Lullaby too.
I think this is really cohesive tbh. I listened to the 17 track edition today and it flowed very well some tracks even merge into each other Madonna Confessions style.
Also I really slept on Save Your Tears!
That needs to be a single! But I will definitely go back to this as a whole album time and time again.
He’s such a talent and his voice
I can’t wait to see him on tour.
We really need an album Surviour rate for this in a few weeks when the albums more familiar to people although I imagine there’s a clear winner for that.
Agree re: Save Your Tears, it could easily be the next single if he pushes one
Until I Bleed Out is such a mood . The video captures that state of mind perfectly.
Listened to the deluxe bonus tracks today and of course all three songs were amazing like the whole album is. Nothing Compares is the strongest track out of three. It should have been on the standard imo.
Not sure why 'Until I Bleed Out' out of all the possible choices was the next one to get a music video! I wouldn't mind just getting a video for every song on the album tho tbh, the visuals this era are so impressive.
I hate that I can't hear 'Until I Bleed Out' without thinking of the elongated high notes in the last part of 'The Fox' by Ylvis
Major Lazer have released a remix for Blinding Lights today.
Way to add nothing to the song
Faith has really clicked with me now. That to be the next single pls
I'm so in love with 'In Your Eyes'.
I can't believe I didn't think much of it on the first listen. How?
Everytime I hear this in full another track jumps out to me.
This is such a solid album though like as a whole piece of work I think it be his most cohesive piece to date.
The album has spent a full month on top of the US album chart! What a huge success this era has proven to be, and deservedly so - it's one of his best!
Another official remix for Blinding Lights is now here.
It has been here since the album came out
There was no need for him to actually make his novelty song for American Dad sound good, but he did it anyway.
I just saw the episode today and this was a surprise lmao
A new remix of "In Your Eyes" featuring Doja Cat will be out this Friday.
oh yay! glad they haven't given up on IYE yet, I guess this will give it the push it needs.
finally!!! hope they really push the new version sending it to playlists etc
Im all for this becoming a hit but why her
Awkwardly, In Your Eyes is expected to go to ACR next week. Hopefully this gets it a reset!
Not shocking news but he’s confirmed that the After Hours Tour is postponed until 2021.
A Doja Cat collab is interesting! Never really thought that the song could do with another artist but I'm intrigued to how Doja will fit in. Just don't spoil the sax!
Absolutely love the In My Eyes remix. Doja’s vocals sound really good on it. Hope it gives the song the boost it needs.
good enough but she should also have been in the chorus
The Weeknd always sounds good in duets with female singers, love all the duets with Lana
The remix is nice, not sure it’ll give the song a great boost but anymore recognition for this masterpiece is appreciated
I really like the remix, Doja fits in just right without taking anything away from the song and it feels more like a duet rather than just tacking a verse on like a lot of remixes.
Ooh I love the sax being in the intro. Not on Spotify yet that I can see
Love it, please be a hit!
I did stream it earlier today on Spotify, but Im not in the UK
it was on The Weeknd- Essentials or something like that, in the Artist's Pick/Posted by The Weeknd
Really like this! Hope it boosts the song a little at least
It's on today's top hits and The Weeknd's essentials playlist but not showing up on artist pages or when you search for it for some reason.
I actually like this but my opinion on Doja Cat hasn't changed
I like how the sax is more prominent in this although nothing beats the surprise of when that riff first started in the original.
Really like this! The sax at the beginning was a great choice and Doja fits in seamlessly. Agreed with Bjork that she should have been on the chorus after though.
this song/remix is immense
another number one for the weeknd?!
Her inclusion really sounds like an afterthought.
Video for the remix
Think it's time they moved onto the next single now.
Agreed. It's my song of the year but that cow has been well & truly milked...
Snowchild now has a video so I guess that's the next single maybe?
At last, needed another cut from the album to get back into it!
'Save Your Tears' video when though. (I don't care at this point if it's not a proper single, I doubt any more singles from this album are going to take off anyway if even 'In Your Eyes' wasn't a huge hit, I just want a video for that if we have them for 'Until I Bleed Out' and 'Snowchild' now )
I heard 'Save Your Tears' on the Dutch radio a few days ago. It also entered the Dutch tipparade (basically what the Bubbling Under is to the Billboard Hot 100). It might be a Dutch radio only single as we've had those before with 'Legendary Lovers' (Katy Perry) and 'Homesick' (Dua Lipa), the latter of which actually was pretty huge. But still I hope it will be an official single, even if I don't see it doing much.
Meh a real downside to Blinding Lights being as gigantic as it was is that it’d still probably still be ahead on streams than what a new single would be if one got a real push.
Save Your Tears does deserve a push I’d say that and Scared to Love are the songs on the album with most potential to take off with the GP. However with news of the Calvin collab coming soon I wonder if this era is either on hold for a time and potentially coming with a re-issue or if we’re gonna potentially get a new era to coincide with next years tour.
Don't forget it already had a reissue
'Save Your Tears' enters the Dutch top40 at #34. A HIT.
Save Your Tears is one of my faves from the album
Just when I thought the original couldn't get any better, this is *fantastic*
I still love this entire album.
It’s rare I really stan male artists but Abel is just something else. He’s by far the best male artist around right now I don’t think anyone else even comes close and this album could overtake and become my favourite from him overall I’m obsessed with it still now. There’s so many tracks I’d love to get a single push too. Blinding Lights being that big almost meant that another single would get lost in the mix although In Your Eyes did well enough.
Hopefully there’ll be more pushed from this album though. Save Your Tears screams single or Hardest To Love!
He’s teasing a new video to come from this era!
Please be Faith
If it’s not Save Your Tears then I’m not interested.
This album is so 11/10 ugh
The video is for Too Late confirmed on his Insta.
In your eyes deserved so much better, is in my top 5 of songs this year!
In Your Eyes would have easily been a huge smash if not for Blinding Lights being such a massive force for so long. Imo they should've waited until now to push IYE as a single and would have no doubt been a Top 10 everywhere. Maybe have someone other than Doja Cat on the remix
Ugh, Save Your Tears deserved!
This is defo their best album tho!! Still in love with it.
He is killing it with the visuals!
I swear every other male video is the same old car chase, them swaying to the music, flashing designer watches and trainers, more shots of a car.
But Abel The visual KING.
Yay defo the best album track
Radio 2 played it this week!
Omg finally xx
Get that streaming payola and become a hit please.
He's teasing something.
he's doing the Super Bowl half-time show!
So apparently there's a remix of 'Save Your Tears' with ROSALÍA coming out.
I don't even care if it turns out to be awful, I am fully going to stan heaven at the mere concept.
when is out? It's not on my Spotify as fast as I can see
I would hazard a guess at Sunday night / Monday morning as they should be performing it at the American Music Awards
^oh thanks, cannot wait, Rosalia is really well connected lately
NO GRAMMY NOMS
I’m stunned. Is it possible he didn’t actually submit anything by choice. I really thought he’d be the most awarded artist and that he’d have taken home album, song and record of the year at the ceremony too. What is happening. Poor Abel If they really snubbed him
I’m not even his biggest fan but it makes no sense how he was snubbed at the Grammys !
'Yummy' nominated over 'Blinding Lights' is NOT something I was expecting to see today
I don’t think I’ve ever been this shocked at the total snub of an artist.
Commercially Blinding Lights was everywhere you couldn’t escape it and the album After Hours was very well received both commercially and critically. I’m gutted for him! I had a look at his past history with the GRAMMYs too and they were kind to both of his last full length albums too. I wonder what’s happened here.
Abel must’ve majorly pissed the Grammys committee off and got blacklisted for that.
What an absolute joke.
Ridiculous that Blinding Lights isn’t nominated. It IS the song of the year.
Unless The Weeknd's stuff really was just not put forward for consideration for whatever reason, I am completely struggling to see why the Grammys would do this. I wouldn't put it past them to not give him any wins but to not even give him any nominations seems like them openly giving up any claim to credibility, especially with some of the absolute shite that got nominated over him? What do they gain by snubbing one of the most successful artists of the year - both commercially and critically - and especially one who happens to not be white when they already get so much shit for being at least ambiguously racist? A joke lol ~
Suffice to say I'm not paying any further mind to the Grammys this year / probably ever after this.
The sooner artists stop valuing the Grammys, the better to be honest. Absolutely tragic that the Weeknd got no nominations when 2020 was his year musically.
The Weeknd submitted.
After Hours
- Album Of The Year
- Best Progressive r&b album
- best engineeered album
Blinding lights
- record of the year
- song of the year
- best solo pop performance
- best music video
SHOULD have been EVERY category. Especially for 'Blinding Lights'.
I think this is one backlash that GRAMMY's will suffer from, more than ever.
A MASSIVE shakeup is needed to the Grammys committee. The fact a song like Yummy by Justin Bieber can get nominated but not Blinding Lights? I fail with words.
Basically means 2020 won’t have been properly reflected in music history by the Grammys
Mostly only here for the title track on this album but lmao this is a level of Grammys being Grammys on otherwise no brainers that I didn't even know was possible.
Just what has went on with him and The GRAMMYs? He’s done well at other ceremonies like AMAs and VMAs so I thought the biggest one would give him what he deserves and at least nominate him.
Literally 0! It’s very suss. I mean there’s been times when I’ve been shocked at albums not winning awards but they were at least nominated.
The Grammys have always been horrendous. Seems like Bieber submitted his stuff for RnB (which it is if you measure the beats used) and they put it on Pop.
The Weeknd throwing shade on Twitter and rightly so. To just flat out ignore is just outright bizarre.
I never think it looks good tbh when artists post things about not winning / not being nominated for awards. I feel it always makes them look bad and as though they feel they’re owed them (even when as fans we think that at times) I don’t ever think it’s good for artists to post stuff like this. Nicki posted something today about not winning best new artist years back (then shading who did win it) and I just thought oh god STOP!
At least Abel isn’t shading other artists but yeah I fear him potentially shading and calling them out may mean he’ll not win any more for future eras.
echoing everyone else here! unbelievable
Source is TMZ so grain of salt but apparently https://www.tmz.com/2020/11/24/the-weeknd-ultimatum-grammys-super-bowl-performance-snub/. :')
That'd be a very good reason for him to call out the Grammys for corruption if true ~
This is gonna break the Internet
I wonder if the Grammy’s will respond? Surely their credibility now is beyond repairable
So many of these award shows base it on who can perform on the night. If they're performing they're more likely to be showered with nominations. A major shame that they don't look at the critical and commercial success over ratings on the night. The legacy of a Grammy lasts long beyond that one night and the awards should recognise this!
I think it's more to do with the Grammys committee never being a fan of the Weeknd rather than cos of him performing at the super bowl
he got plenty of nominations for Madness but didn't win big and just won a couple little categories
and then with Starboy, I think he only got 1 nomination and it was something minor,
so it was similar to this year
with the Grammys it's about lobbying and campaigning so I Guess his label didn't send big checks
What a slap in the face for him. I hope some noise is made about this beyond the Twittersphere. Omitting what is widely considered as one of the standout songs and albums of 2020 does no one any favours besides the artists nominated instead of him. Completely unacceptable. And if we're to look at it through a racial lens, it looks like the academy have learned nothing. White artists such as JP Saxe, Julia Michaels and Justin Bieber can churn out the most insipid dirge and can be celebrated for it while a black artist actually brings something inspiring to the table and helped change the landscape of pop with the 80s synths yet doesn't even get recognised. What the f.
It sounds like The Weeknd snub is purely due to the performance negotiations and the Super Bowl. Lady Gaga and Katy Perry both performed the same year as their Super Bowl shows, but they performed a cover with Metallica and an album track. He probably wasn’t allowed to perform ‘Blinding Lights’ on both — which is ridiculous.
Blinding lights back #5 on TTH
The impact
I didn’t realise Save Your Tears from this album was as high as #30 on UK iTunes.
Hope it smashes post Xmas / early 2021.
Because incredibly there's clearly some milk still left in that cow!
thats beyond crazy!
Still excited but kind of lame in comparison to the tease of it being 'Save Your Tears' if true xx
What I don't get about this is the 'Save Your Tears' rumour came from a YouTube Content ID leak which is usually infallible (it called the existence of the BTS remix of 'Savage Love (Laxed - Siren Beat)' for example) - not sure how that is going to turn out to be wrong? Unless it was a faked screenshot from YouTube in the first place but if that's the case it's a pretty big coincidence that there would turn out to also be a real remix with ROSALÍA...
The remix of "Blinding Lights" with ROSALÍA is available now.
Listening now, it's cool, and Risalis sings a lot, even starts the song with some new Spanish lines
but still don't get why they're releasing it now 1 year after the original release
she could have jumped on another album track or done a new single together and that would have had more sense
This just proves that Rosalía can make any (majorly) overplayed song listenable again.
QUEEN! *.*
Guess we know what the bandages at the AMAs were for now
Would love this to somehow become a hit, it’s too good to flop
amazing
why is 'blinding lights' still doing so well?
I slept on 'Save Your Tears' a bit compared to other album tracks when this first came out (#24 in my chart compared to multiple instant top 10s) but it's quietly crept up on me and now I adore it - what a timeless sounding synth record much like 'Blinding Lights' and 'In Your Eyes'. Really hope it can do something!
SYT has always been one of my faves from the album. I was hoping for In Your Eyes to be bigger than it was so hopefully this can exceed my expectations
Omfg as soon as I saw his face in the video I was thinking "wtf has he done????" "why has he gone all MJ on us?" "he's ruined his looks"...
Thank God it's just prosthetics for the music video. I'm so dim sometimes.
Also at the Grammy shade. I still can't believe he got snubbed.
So this could really be Top 40 this Friday thanks it seems to the new video streams. I would love to see it.
Wow, the video for 'Save Your Tears' seems to be doing pretty crazy numbers on YouTube - it's at nearly 58 million after just 12 days By comparison, 12 days into its release (with help from the Wayback Machine x), 'In Your Eyes' was at just over 10 million, and it's sitting at 'only' ~83 million now over 9 months later, and that was with the hype of it being released right off the back of the album rather than months and months later...!
the video was #4 last week on the Video streaming chart
The video has received a lot of press (mainly about those prosthetics~) so it's no wonder it's doing the numbers! Shocked it is storming towards IYE's total as quickly as it is though
The success of save your tears is amazing *.*
It’s #28 on Spotify and #17 on Apple Music! I can see it easily managing top 15 next week possibly top 10 considering ACR
Insane effect on US iTunes!

This comment though:
The Pepsi halftime show but every song is about coke
I just watched the whole thing for a minute of House Of Balloons, Abel you legend.
I know that handycam thing was only for memes but Jesus that ruined the flow which never came back.
Solid B overall.
wish he'd wheeled lana out for a song or 3...
This didn't really pop off as much as I was hoping for but the 'Blinding Lights' finale was brilliant!
It was probably my favourite half-time by a male artists from recent years, but I was also a bit disappointed. In his interview he talked a bit about story-telling in it which made me think we would get a type of performance we haven't seen before, but it was pretty much just a greatest hits show with him on different parts of the stage. Great vocals though even if the mixing was a bit off and BL will always feel euphoric live
I actually really enjoyed it. Surprises me because I usually find him quite whiny, but I thought it was a well produced show and he absolutely gave it his all. The sound mixing seemed to be a bit all over the place, but I feel like that's par the course for most Superbowl Half Time performances in recent times lmao. I wish he did 'In Your Eyes' though.
Low-key impressed. Not blown away, but he did what was needed.
I quite liked his half time performance, I didn't think it was anywhere near as bad as what some were making it out to be.
I'm glad the album got such a big boost from it. Also happy to see "Save Your Tears" become a big hit too.
I for one loved it - his vocals were great all the way through, the showmanship was there giving me MJ vibes and the setlist was solid too although 'In Your Eyes' and 'Secrets' should've been squeezed in. Definitely one of the best Super Bowl halftime shows I've seen. As mentioned above I was hoping at some point Lana would come out for a 'Lust For Life' performance.
Save Your Tears up to #13 now!
I'm so glad it's smashing! This album has been a real slow burner for me. 'Alone Again' is only now starting to hit!!
Blinding Lights has just become the first song in the history of the US Billboard Hot 100 to spend a year in the top ten, what a smash!
Incredible Abel is God.
thats crazy, 52 weeks in the top 10
but the crazy thing is how the song is still top 10 on Airplay
That is an impressive achievement but I do think that's just a sign of the times and eventually one song had to be the first to inevitably achieve it. Loads of songs will be doing that soon.
Ehh I don't think so. It's become a lot more commonplace for the biggest megahits to have runs that rival what the record number of weeks in the top 10 used to be (i.e. 30-33 weeks, with 'Circles' in a second tier of its own with 39 weeks), but even compared to those 'Blinding Lights' is light years ahead (and it's still as high as #3, could continue this run for quite a bit longer). I'd say it's feasible we might start seeing ""loads"" of songs (i.e. maybe 1 or 2 per year) having runs similar to 'Circles' but I think 'Blinding Lights' will probably remain unique. I believe it's well on the path to being the most successful song in Billboard chart history if it isn't already (the mark for that is Chubby Checker's 'The Twist' which was a huge hit in 2 separate years, I'm not sure exactly how it's measured but Billboard does keep an all-time list that they update every few years or so).
Maybe loads was a bit of an exaggeration but I do feel when I see these achievements, they always sound impressive at the start but then after a few years it's commonplace e.g. all the streaming records/most YT views in a day/month/year and so on.
Of course it's still a huge achievement to be the first to achieve or break [insert random record] but the only truly impressive ones can't be judged until a good few years afterwards. Obviously then chart rules can change in the time since so this sort of thing can always be open to interpretation.
Edit nevermind lol
yooooooo
A new remix of "Save Your Tears" featuring Ariana Grande is being teased.
I am sooo here for that!
Very exciting!!!
Shook
Hopefully that can propel it to a new top 10 peak (ACR permitting?)
Anything that gives the song more attention is fine by me. I think Ari will sound gorgeous on it too
Save Your Tears wreaks of Stock Aitken and Waterman. The simplistic melody (not a negative thing) is exactly their style. But it's better than almost anything they ever side.
Ariana will sound great on Save Your Tears looking forward to it !
bit tired of Save your tears by now so I'd rather they would do a new song but guess they really want a new peak in the US now that BL is finally out of the top 10 after like a million weeks, there's no strong #1 in the US right now so this could easily climb to#1
Really hope this has a shot at #1 in the US next week then!
It seems likely that it'll go onto ACR here this week though which is really annoying but hopefully a reset is possible if the remix is big enough
Remix confirmed for Friday (Thursday night in the US)
The song was perfect as it was, this remix is totally pointless.
Americans really seem to have a habit of remixing songs that don’t need it.
Yeah I was basically going to echo the previous post - Save Your Tears is great as is.
The Ariana remix is ok, but unnecessary.
ouch sounds bad, she sings in the wrong key, why she sings so low like if she was Bon Iver in exile? she should sing in the same key as the backing vocals, those are good, but not her main vocals... she should be singing much higher
It's necessary to give this song a shot at #1 in the U.S.
I love the outing of Ariana's lower register, compliments the moody nature of the song well, then her higher vocals flourish in the adlibs and harmonies. Happy with it! Sure it's not a complete overhaul but I wouldn't have wanted that at all with a song as strong as 'Save Your Tears' in its original form. I was so disappointed by the ROSALÍA remix of 'Blinding Lights' (another one of my favourite artists) but I'll definitely be returning to this.
Oh I think she sounds lovely on it
I do too! I just listened expecting something awful from the comments but I really like it, I think it would have sounded odd in a higher register and I really like that she’s sung it in a way that compliments and respects the song.
It reminds me of the Doja Cat remix of In Your Eyes. It’s a fantastic song to begin with and didn’t need anything added, but the remix doesn’t take anything away from the original either. I’m happy swapping between each version of In Your Eyes when I listen to it and I’m sure I’ll feel the same about Ariana’s remix of Save Your Tears too
Album is at its highest it’s been in the UK since 2021 this week as it returns to the top 40!
Three albums inside this weeks top 40! He’s absolutely smashing it on Spotify reaching 107M monthly listeners
Finally! Also Save Your Tears is about to hit 100 Weeks in the Uk top 100 Singles Chart as is "After Hours" but in the Albums chart.
5 Weeks ago 'Save Your Tears' hit 100 weeks in the UK top 100 singles chart, as of now it has spent 105 weeks (2 years+). Is is his 2nd song to do so after 'Blinding Lights'. 'After Hours' has also now spent 100 weeks in the UK albums top 100 as of yesterday! It is is 4th projects to do so with 'Beauty Behind The Madness' on 103, 'Starboy' on 116 & 'The Highlights' on 117. I can see him overtaking the former.
Great to see him get another album on 100 weeks!
At the time of release it felt like Blinding Lights was so huge that it overshadowed what else was on the album. In your Eyes deserved a higher peak but I’m glad Save Your Tears eventually got its moment.
I still think this is an exceptional album that was completely robbed of GRAMMYs! I can’t wait to see him on tour now it’s getting close my shows on July 7th!
