Watch all Janet Jackson Night dances here!

Live from Hollywood, it's Dancing With The Stars! Tonight we are a part of the rhythm nation, as tonight's dances pay tribute to a legendary icon of dance: Janet Jackson! The night kicks off with a dance to "Nasty", and we get a little bit of Tyra actually dancing! We also get a call from Janet herself! We have a double elimination coming up as the couples face off for a spot in the semi-finals.

In other news, congrats to Derek for his PCA nomination!

Now can Tyra stop making it all about her and get to the dancing?

(scores: Carrie Ann | Len | Derek | Bruno)

-

Jimmie & Emma: This is a pretty late cha-cha... how will they pull this off? Jimmie reveals himself as a huge Janet fan, and Emma gushes over how fun of a person Jimmie is.

Jimmie's been doing a lot of dances in hold or are more serious and a lot of them don't require hip action, so I was excited to see his improvement with this. I have to say... this is one of Emma's best cha-chas! There's a good mix of Latin and hip hop content. Len thinks the dance is nice, but is "nice" enough to get through to the next round? Derek tells him that it wasn't as good as his previous dances and thought he was stiff in places. Bruno agrees with Len that there are no heel leads in the cha-cha. Carrie Ann loved how it was super casual but it sacrificed the technique in the process.

The only problem with this dance is that the cha-cha is such a simple dance, so this being their style so late into the season was more of a detriment to their growth than a benefit.

Scores: 8 | 8 | 8 | 8 = 32/40. I'm getting flashbacks to James Van Der Beek - one bad/lackluster night and he got sent home.

-

Tyra warns everyone that anyone can go home and cites last week's bottom 2 as proof that the voting is super close every time.

-

Suni & Sasha: Last week was rough for Suni with her getting a stomach bug, and she was pretty embarrassed by what's come. Suni talks about how social media has affected her life being such a public figure, and her goal is to let all of her inhibitions go. If only Suni knew about how much support she got that night...

You can see small embellishments into the choreography where she looks like she's having more fun than ever. She makes the dance her own, she nails the technical parts, and there's elements of athleticism that Sasha is known for. Overall a great samba from her. Derek thinks that she was very vibrant and she did extremely well with such a difficult dance. Bruno commends her growth and authenticity. Carrie Ann agrees that she let herself go loose and it worked wonders for her. Len is seen beaming to her.

Scores: 10 | 10 | 10 | 10 = 40/40. Finally Suni gets those 10's! New hair, new attitude, new day - so proud of her!

-

Melora & Artem: The Paso Doble is a pretty difficult dance, and Artem is going pretty hard on her with it being late game. Melora is scared that she's getting stressed and Artem blames himself. Upon hearing that, Melora starts to comfort him.

The one thing that I appreciate about Melora's dancing is that she's always in character. She knows what she wants to give and her body language adjusts with little to no effort. This is also another solid dance! Bruno thought that all the elements of a good Paso were there despite everything. Carrie Ann praises her for fighting through the stereotypes of her age to give off a great dance. Len thought that the dance had a lot of attack, which was what she's not known for. Derek thought that the adversity shown in the package manifested itself in the dance and it worked in their favor.

Scores: 10 | 10 | 10 | 10 = 40/40. Melora thanks just about everyone involved with the show.

-

Olivia & Val: Last week was a HUGE breakthrough for Olivia, and now she's getting an Argentine Tango. When she mentions her family, I get a lump in her throat, but she reveals that her dad was in a Janet Jackson video. She continues and cites her dad for giving her the love for the dance floor and being her inspiration to carry through with the show.

I keep forgetting how effortless Val makes those lifts. It was a pretty subtle one at least. The one thing that I'm glad about is that the theme nights are really challenging Val. Carrie Ann thought it was nice but it needed more heat. Len loved the variations in the dance but thought the table prop was a bit too gimmicky. Derek loved Olivia's joy resonating through the dance despite the character work in each dance. Bruno thought the dance was beautiful despite it needing more heat.

Scores: 9 | 9 | 9 | 9 = 36/40. A decent score. I'm just glad that this Argentine Tango wasn't phoned in for once.

-

Cody & Cheryl: Cody's seen Janet several times in concert, and reminisces about how his mom took him to his first Janet Jackson concert. Her being a single mom, she did the best she could with raising Cody and he shows so much gratitude to her.

Cheryl has been doing such a good job integrating his personality into their dances. There's a really good moment where Cody does a knee slide in half time and then they speed it up. However, they lost a lot of momentum during the second half. Len loved the dance and dominated the dance floor. Derek praised his presence and power in the dance. Bruno thought that a switch went off on him and they destroyed the dance. Carrie Ann chimes in that he let out a lot into the dance.

Scores: 10 | 10 | 9 | 9 = 38/40. Seriously how am I always agreeing with Derek?

-

Amanda & Alan: I expected that the stress would get to Amanda after last week with her plummeting down the leaderboard. Alan's pushing her harder than ever and he thinks that she's going through the motions. We really need her to push through this and she gets through the week with no problems.

I'm liking her facial expressions this time around, they're more varied than usual. Also if there's one thing that Alan will give it's intricate lifts. Like legit, his partners have so much trust in him to do all those lifts. Derek thought the dance was amazing from start to finish and everything clicked. Bruno thought that she took charge in the dance and made the Janet elements on her own. Carrie Ann rushes to hug Amanda. Len had one word to describe the dance: A-MA-ZING.

Scores: 10 | 10 | 10 | 10 = 40/40. As soon as she did that first lift, I just knew that it was a 10-worthy performance.

-

Iman & Daniella: Iman gushes over Teyana again and he talks about how much of a fan she was of Janet. In fact, Janet personally called Teyana at one point after they missed her concert. This is a bit of a nail-biter considering they have a cha-cha, which is relatively simple but could backfire due to him being so tall, and Iman is a very inconsistent scorer as it is.

Rhythm Nation is such an iconic song, it would be almost sacrilege if they did this wrong. Iman just moves so effortlessly along the dance floor. Bruno gives him kudos for tackling such an iconic dance and paying tribute well. The content might not have been there but the performance was amazing. Carrie Ann was impressed with how much he makes things his own. Len loved the group section but the dance didn't have that much content. Derek chimes that this was another memorable dance for them.

Scores: 9 | 8 | 9 | 9 = 33/40. 9 is on point for them. Not much cha cha but what was there was pretty good and the overall dance was fantastic.

-

Jojo & Jenna: Okay but seriously, how did they get the bottom 2 when they were among the top 3 scorers of last night? We get a nice discussion about how Jojo has really good fans and how much support she received after coming out as pansexual earlier in the year. However, with that support came the usual homophobia that arrives with a newly out member of the LGBTQIA+ community. Regardless, she pulls through and delivers.

This salsa is ON POINT. I was so shook when they did that lift! Carrie Ann praises her for raising the bar every time and being the reason why the competition is so fierce. Len praises the duo for being a dream team but criticizes them for adding a few gimmicks. Derek loved the opening lift, then goes on to praise the diversity in content. Bruno commends and admires her for being a full send performer and throwing herself into every dance.

Scores: 10 | 9 | 10 | 10 = 39/40. Jojo thanks Jenna for pushing her so much throughout the competition and getting the pair to try things they've never tried before.

-

Now it's time for dance-offs! We've got two couples side by side dancing, and one judge will be supervising it all. Who will win?

Dance-Off: Jimmie & Emma vs. Suni & Sasha - Salsa, judged by Bruno
Emma and Sasha have such a natural chemistry and it's just fun. Bruno thinks Jimmie needs to improve his footing, whereas Suni needs to relax.

They pulled it off very well! Jimmie's dance was pure unadulterated fun, but at the same time Suni had great musicality and her technique is off the scale as always. Bruno thought that they had their own taste with the dance, but the salsa needs to be a balance between performance and technique.

Bonus Points:
Bruno votes for... Suni & Sasha! They receive two bonus points to their total score!

Yeah this might be the nail in the coffin for Jimmie. This really is Suni's week though.

-

Dance-Off: Jojo & Jenna vs. Olivia & Val - Rumba, judged by Carrie Ann
Producers are being really shady, putting all these married couples together.

Neither of them have danced a rumba before! Carrie Ann notes that Jojo needs to watch her athleticism and that sometimes she sacrifices her technique for power and performance, whereas Olivia needs to pull through and bring the heat. Olivia's dance is more true to Janet and is very sharp, but Jojo's dance is softer and more fluid, making it more true to a rumba. Carrie Ann congratulates them for doing well for doing a rumba for the first time. She calls out Olivia for lip synching but thought she took the corrections from last dance, whereas she thought Jojo and Jenna had the passion.

They both did really well, it could be a nail biter at this point.

Bonus Points:
Carrie Ann votes for... Jojo & Jenna! They receive two bonus points to their total score!

They really keep talking about Val's booty tooch tongue.gif Also laughed a bit at how the crowd cheered for Olivia getting the points and the Carrie Ann sideswiped them laugh.gif

-

Dance-Off: Melora & Artem vs. Iman & Daniella - Foxtrot, judged by Derek
Derek notes that Melora is consistent and fluid, but Iman has a personality that fills the room. He is looking for performance value as well as beautiful lines and technique. Melora chimes that Iman gets to see her competitive side.

It is really hard to fill a foxtrot using half the stage. The two of them are dancing just as Derek expected - Melora is graceful while Iman is full of energy and personality. Derek starts off with commending Iman's improvement - he did well with using the stage to his advantage, whereas Melora was graceful and beautiful as always. He also reveals that he thought that it was going to be a blowout in favor of one couple, but both pairs turned it out with great dances.

Bonus Points:
Derek votes for... Melora & Artem! They receive two bonus points to their total score!

This was neck in neck for me, definitely think Iman could have pulled off the win with a different mood.

-

Dance-Off: Amanda & Alan vs. Cody & Cheryl - Cha-Cha, judged by Len
"Together Again" is a good choice for a cha-cha. Amanda is consistent, Cody has been growing as a dancer. Should be interesting. Len thinks Amanda needs to work on more rhythm but has the hip action, something Cody lacks but makes up for with good leg action.

Cody is really improving! Both pairs have also danced exactly how they would dance. Len thought the battle was neck in neck and both groups brought what Len was looking for. However, it all came down to one step: the New York.

Bonus Points:
Len votes for... Amanda & Alan! They receive two bonus points to their total score!

That was a valiant effort from Cody though. This has been one heck of a dance-off week. All the pairs turned it out tonight!

-

Results Time!
We have a three way tie for the top of the leaderboard!

Safe this week are:
Suni & Sasha!
Jojo & Jenna!
Amanda & Alan!
Cody & Cheryl!

And the last couple safe this week is...

Iman & Daniella! cheeseblock.png

In the bottom 3: Olivia & Val, Jimmie & Emma, Melora & Artem

At the very bottom is...

Eliminated: Olivia & Val. Well... that was unfortunate. sad.gif This season I felt excited to see Val's choreography again, which is always a plus. Thank god for this season tbh.

Derek votes to save... Melora & Artem!
Bruno votes to save... Melora & Artem!
Carrie Ann votes to save... Melora & Artem!

Eliminated: Jimmie & Emma. Once again a scenario where the bottom is unfortunate but like they COULD NOT send Melora home after a perfect score. She looks LIVID though, can't wait to see how that will affect them in the semis. Artem's face tho rotf.gif

Next Week: It's the semi finals! We get one more double elimination and it's off to the finale! Who will make the final 4?

Watch all Semi-Finals dances here!

Live from Hollywood, it's the Dancing With The Stars semi-finals! The night kicks off with a funny skit where the producers finally decide to bring back The Miz and show us what we've been missing. For the past few weeks, it's been such an open battle, and this week is no different. The remaining couples will dance to two dances: one redemption dance coached by one of the judges and another unlearned dance.

(scores: Carrie Ann | Len | Derek | Bruno)

-

Redemption Dances:

Cody & Cheryl: Bruno chose the salsa for them... interesting. It's good for them because they didn't really get to see the full scope of the dance due to both of them getting COVID. They seem really thankful for Bruno's energy and input, which is great for them to learn this type of dance. WE NEED HIP ACTION.

Ever since they got out of quarantine, they've really pumped the acceleration and proven how much they want to be contenders. I kinda feel like the second half was much better than the first half. The foot dips were scary yet great, definitely a moment. Bruno thought he improved his arms but they need to work on their synchronicity. Carrie Ann is happy to see them do a salsa with the circumstances but points out that he loses energy in his feet. Len thought he was a bit flat footed but thought it was a decent dance. Derek warned him about rushing but also wished them a job well done.

Scores: 9 | 9 | 8 | 9 = 35/40. Agreeing with Derek count today: 1.

-

Melora & Artem: Their dance was FANTASTIC but they made it into bottom 2. I'm scared. Len will be coaching them for the rumba - he looks so elated to be teaching Melora, he's grown fond of her. During Week 2 he wanted them to show more hip action for the rumba and give the dance a bit more Latin flavor.

The Dawson's Creek theme? Melora is so much more fluid than she was during the last rumba they did. LOVED the ending, her back flexibility is insane. Len thought they did what they had to do; the routine had a lot of content and they pulled it off well. Derek explains that the rumba is more difficult despite the tempo and they powered through. Bruno thought she danced with all of her body but her interpretation of the dance had a ton of layers. Carrie Ann loved her hip action but thought she needed to extend her dancing to the tips of her hands. She ends with noting that there might have been a lift.

Scores: 8 | 10 | 9 | 9 = 36/40. Carrie Ann gives them an 8... leave it to Len to save them.

-

Suni & Sasha: Carrie Ann's coaching them for their foxtrot! Good because they were SCREWED OVER by that song choice. Carrie Ann wants Suni to work on her characterization and performance quality. She wants Suni to really showcase a lot of personality into the dance.

This is a MUCH BETTER song for a foxtrot! I absolutely love their chemistry, it's clear that Sasha is very nurturing and wants her to succeed in everything. It's a cute dance with a bit of musical theater, which means it did the job! Carrie Ann commends her growth when it came to her confidence and thought she's blossomed in the late game. Len thought that her frame was great but needed to work on her footwork; nonetheless a great dance. Derek thought she made a complete transformation from the beginning of the season. He points out a bit of a bounce that detracted from the dance but thought it was great. Bruno commended her connection and frame and chopped the bounce to the duo keeping up with the tempo.

Scores: 10 | 9 | 9 | 9 = 37/40. Agreeing with Derek count today: 2. Suni explains that she's been allowing herself to have fun and enjoy herself during this experience.

-

Jojo & Jenna: Jojo also gets some much needed coaching from Len! Jojo is excited to hear someone who's very by the book hard on them. Len wanted more of a variation between a regular tango and an Argentine Tango for their redemption dance. They needed more flavor and fluidity.

The opening lift? FANTASTIC. The footwork? TO DIE FOR. I also love their sensuality in the dance, they've really upped their game in that aspect since their rumba. Len had only two words for it: bloody brilliant. Derek thought that the dance has come full circle seeing two women dancing AT. There were a ton of moments and he commends Jojo's strength. Bruno called the dance outstanding. Carrie Ann impressed her with her leading the first time, and this time they built up on that by developing the passion needed for such a tango.

Scores: 10 | 10 | 10 | 10 = 40/40. This transition into womanhood has been such a rewarding experience for Jojo.

-

Iman & Daniella: Derek and Iman are a power duo that I never thought that I needed. Derek wasn't in the ballroom at the time - this was during Britney week, when he was self-quarantining. He takes the time to work on his frame and tells him to use his height to his advantage.

His frame has really improved! I think he found a really good strategy to match Daniella's height and adjust his frame without making it look like he's dancing down. Another great effort from the duo. Derek thought that they did the job and improved his frame. Bruno thought that the dance was exquisite but warned him for squatting a bit. Carrie Ann also congratulates him for improving his frame and points out that there's magic when they dance. Len commends his massive improvement.

Agreeing with Derek count today: 3. He really hit the nail on the head when he said they broke the NBA curse.

Scores: 9 | 9 | 10 | 9 = 37/40. I'm loving these redemption dances.

-

Amanda & Alan: Amanda is actually doing a dance she did on week 1, so the judges get to see her full range of improvement. Len is really picking up all the front runners huh? He wants more body contact in the tango and needed them to close all the gaps in their dance.

I LOVE fast paced tangos. They were SUPER tight and the dance was amazing. I did see her foot come off the floor so I'm waiting for Carrie Ann to underscore that dance to oblivion. Len got what they were looking for and more. Derek loved seeing her consistency and thought she glided down that floor like a pro. Bruno loved how they got slick in the dance, and Carrie Ann points out the foot coming off the floor.

Scores: 9 | 10 | 10 | 10 = 39/40. Weird... LOVED the dance and would give them a 10 but thought that there was something off about that dance so 39 is a right score.

-

Unlearned Dances:

Melora & Artem: I didn't know that Melora was on a kid's comedy show! It's very touching to see one of her friends come over and see them work hard and destroy it on the dance floor, and she feels touched that she's inspired other older women to pursue their dreams.

This is a much lighter contemporary than I'm used to but that's a good thing. She's become a huge light and beacon for everyone. Len thought the dance had a lot of attack and joy. Derek commends her for showcasing her love for dance every time she steps on the dance floor. Bruno loved the little touches of slow jazz mixed in with the contemporary. Carrie Ann praised her lyrical quality of the dance.

Scores: 9 | 9 | 9 | 9 = 36/40. She's filming a documentary? Nice.

-

Cody & Cheryl: Cheryl has echoed what I said - they're peaking at the right time. Cody loves the dance because he gets to be his true authentic self, something that he had to hide growing up due to the homophobic tendencies of his hometown.

Damn, if there's something Cheryl can do, it's choreograph a stunning Argentine tango. Personally I think that they're playing off of each other well, but I needed more Cody. I think the pair have only scratched the surface of what they can do together. Derek loved the opening of the dance and points out that Cheryl did much more choreography in the dance. Bruno loved that he kept the feel of the dance throughout. Carrie Ann loved that he brought the dance throughout but saw that something was off in the dance. Len also commends his improvement.

Scores: 9 | 9 | 9 | 9 = 36/40. Surprised he's only one point away from Melora. He could just about make it to the finals!

-

Suni & Sasha: I've been LOVING her transformation throughout this season. Sasha wants to highlight the sacrifices she made to get to where she was. Suni talks about how she's had the whole world on her shoulders since the Olympics, and how last week showed her having a good time.

I love how expressive her movements are. If there's one thing being a gymnast has prepared her for, it's how to dance with your entire body. Another nice clean performance from her. Bruno thought that a lot of her dance was weightless and lauds her for having the power to express herself. Carrie Ann thought that she's become more versatile as a performer. Len said that she danced well with feeling but the choreography felt too repetitive. Derek saw Suni's epiphany and thought she presented that well.

Scores: 10 | 9 | 10 | 9 = 38/40. Tyra interpreted it best: she had always felt a bit of a disconnect because of the fame but had always found her way back to herself.

-

Jojo & Jenna: Contemporary time! Jojo talks about how her grandfather passed away months ago and immediately it gives me flashbacks to when she danced for one of her grandmothers in Dance Moms. I really want to see straight legs and pointed feet.

During Dance Moms, Jojo had never really been big on technique, but I can see that her legs are straighter and her feet are pointed. And the best part is that she's dancing from the heart. It felt very much like an Abby Lee Miller choreographed dance with much more vitriol and gusto. Carrie Ann thought that everything clicked well and she brought the emotion in the dance. Len thought that there was a nice balance of athleticism and artistry, and he thought there was a lot of maturity injected into the dance. Derek called the dance the best contemporary dance in DWTS history. Bruno thought that the pair were two souls connected.

Agreeing with Derek count today: 4. Jojo performed really well with lyrical! Now I wish she got more of that during Dance Moms!

Scores: 10 | 10 | 10 | 10 = 40/40. So now she can either tie for top of the leaderboard or hold it on her own. She's at the top of my pyramid.

-

Iman & Daniella: He's dancing to a Teyana featured song! Iman is used to the pressure of the semis due to his time on the NBA. The pair talk about how they've been the underdogs all season and it's lighting a fire under their feet.

I figured they were gonna bring it with this dance. They are definitely the moment makers as Derek dubbed them. The high lifts down the stairs? The swing section midway through? STANDING ON HIS CHEST??? How does Daniella come up with all this stuff? He threw her like a rag doll and they still made it beautiful. Len thought there was a lot of lyrical that distracted from the dance. Derek loved how there were a lot of intricate lifts and praised the choreography. Bruno also praised the lifts but mentioned that there might have been a time when he was about to stumble on a lift. Carrie Ann praised him for bringing such a different and unique vibe.

Scores: 10 | 9 | 10 | 9 = 38/40. Seems consistent with the critiques.

-

Amanda & Alan: Ah, so this is the time when she gets to dance to her husband's song. That explains why she was almost crying and hugging Alan before they aired the package.

That close up of Alan's face before the routine started? GOOSEBUMPS. I was really apprehensive about Amanda doing a contemporary dance because I wanted to see her grow as a ballroom dancer, but this was another good way to showcase her growth. Derek commended the fact that she did this dance for herself rather than for the competition. Bruno thought that the dance took on a bigger meaning than the competition. Carrie Ann thought that she lost herself into the dance and transcended into something beyond words. Len called the dance brilliant.

Scores: 10 | 10 | 10 | 10 = 40/40. A perfect score rewarded with all those tears. I'm sure Nick is smiling from above.

-

Results Time!
I can make a case for all of them entering the final. Cody's at the bottom but has a really big fanbase. Melora's been consistent but this week was a step down. Suni and Iman are midtable and could see their chances going either way, and when it seemed like Amanda was getting too stagnant, she finally hit her apex. And then we can't rule out Jojo's polarizing reactions all season. This could truly be a nail biter.

Safe this week are:

Jojo & Jenna! cheer.gif cheer.gif cheer.gif

Iman & Daniella! w00t.gif w00t.gif w00t.gif

And the last couple safe this week is...

Cody & Cheryl! cheeseblock.png cheeseblock.png cheeseblock.png

Cheryl's first finale in eight years!!!

In the bottom 3: Amanda & Alan, Suni & Sasha, Melora & Artem

At the very bottom is...
Eliminated: Melora & Artem. I did kinda feel that Melora was gonna go home once Cody made it through to the finals.

Carrie Ann votes to save... Amanda & Alan!
Derek votes to save... Amanda & Alan!
Bruno votes to save... Amanda & Alan!

After that dance, you could not send Amanda home.

Eliminated: Suni & Sasha. We can hear everyone cheering for Suni. Her growth has been amazing throughout and I can't wait to see what she brings to the table when NCAA season starts up.

Next Week: We are bringing back all the stars for the finale! We also get an encore dance from the final 4 and a freestyle. Who will win the Mirrorball trophy?

Can Cody Rigsby make a huge comeback after getting sick from COVID and bring Cheryl her first MBT in 27 seasons?

Will America reward consistency and give the Mirrorball to Amanda Kloots, who touched everyone's hearts tonight?

Jojo Siwa made history with the US edition's first same sex pairing, but can she and Jenna ride that wave all the way to the top?

Or can Daniella cook up another death defying slam dunk routine and send Iman Shumpert home with another trophy?

Who will conquer and come out on top? Find out next week!

Dance Ranking:

Watch all Finale dances here!

Live from Hollywood, it's the Dancing With The Stars finale! The night kicks off with all the couples returning for a huge opening dance as a way to parade through to the final four contestants! Mel C and Jimmie Allen are performing and with Derek catching COVID and quarantining for the night, we get one more surprise...

That's right, Julianne is back! And she's here to fill in for Derek and serve as the fourth judge for the couples. They will each dance to a fusion of two dances and the long-awaited freestyle. Who will make history and become the 30th Mirrorball champion?

(scores: Carrie Ann | Len | Julianne | Bruno)

-

Fusion Dances:

Amanda & Alan: Wow, it was a bit of a ride watching them progress. Can't believe it took them until very late into the game for them to get their first perfect scores. Their fusion is Viennese Waltz/Paso Doble. Tbh I'm kinda apprehensive about this.

I have never seen this combination done at all so this should be interesting. I'm more amazed at how well the dances seem to fuse together than the actual dance. The second half was much weaker than the first half, the jump was a bit underwhelming but the pair has a ton of synergy. Julianne is very glad to be back in the judging panel - she hasn't been there since Season 24! She loved the journey that they went through. Bruno thought there was a ton of passion in the dance. Carrie Ann thought the dance had a lot of versatility emotion-wise despite a small stumble. Len considers Amanda a one-of-a-kind dancer.

Scores: 9 | 10 | 9 | 10 = 38/40. Wow unlike her brother, I don't normally agree with Julianne but she seems to be spot on today.

Cody & Cheryl: Cody has been a huge rollercoaster for me. Pre-season he was a huge favorite, but first week he had exactly what kind of flaws I expected. However, things changed when he and Cheryl got COVID. All of a sudden they were weeks behind everyone else but he really drove it to 120 mph, and while I didn't get much of his dances, Janet week changed things up. He really is a warrior, but he does know he's only here because of his fans and not because of his dancing?

Combining cha cha and paso is another fusion I have been waiting for so I'm glad I get it this season. I'm missing all of the angles I need from the paso though. It kinda felt like a prelude to the cha cha, which was much better than the paso part. Bruno gives props to Cody for his huge improvement throughout the season. Carrie Ann concurs and loved how far he has come. Len thought the dance had a lot of attack and there were Paso elements in the Cha Cha, but he wanted more shape. Julianne had been watching their journey throughout but saw that he had been working on his feet.

Scores: 9 | 9 | 9 | 9 = 36/40. Honestly seems right. Ngl I love his costume for this dance.

-

Jojo & Jenna: All things considered, I'm super proud of Jojo for how much she's transformed both on the inside and the outside. We got to see her lead Jenna and deliver amazing dance after amazing dance. Their dance is a tango/cha cha fusion and I've never felt more hyped.

The song says it all: I LOVE IT! The choreography wasn't basic, the styles were fused well, and the dance was clean and precise. Carrie Ann sees that Jojo has transformed in more ways than through dance and sees her star power. Len points out that if the dance is great then it's great, no matter the gender of the dancers. Julianne thinks that Jojo is multi-faceted no matter what, and Bruno thought that the dance was solid and that she's done amazingly throughout the season.

Scores: 10 | 10 | 10 | 10 = 40/40. Jojo's speech really hits hard. I'm just so happy for her.

-

At last, some words from Derek! He gives props to the pros for pushing it to the limit this season and making sure that the contestants got to where they are now.

-

Iman & Daniella: This pair was just FUN from start to finish. Honestly I wasn't sure about how they would perform. Disney Week was a huge change in them and when I could see the hype in them. Daniella really transformed him into an amazing dancer... and she DESERVES an Emmy for this season.

Cha Cha/Foxtrot is a simple combination but it's one that can work well. Honestly I love that he's refined his dances and improved his technique but he never lost his groove and natural rhythm. That was a nice touch. Len thought that the dance was straightforward and told him that sometimes the underdogs bite back. Julianne never thought of him as an underdog, yet he embodies what this show is about. Bruno calls him an eagle and thinks he made a huge transformation. Carrie Ann thinks Daniella really evolved him into this amazing dancer that makes people happy.

Scores: 10 | 10 | 10 | 10 = 40/40. They finally got Len on their side!

-

Freestyles:

Cody & Cheryl: It's really interesting to see how much they've grown as a pair considering two of those were over Zoom. Also props to Cheryl because she's become a huge stalwart over the course of these few seasons.

This dance is EXTRA extra. Pole dancing? Voguing? Waacking? If there's one word I can describe this dance, it would be "camp". Absolutely fun and they did not hold back. The one critique I have is that I wish the lifts were a lot better. Julianne told him that the dance was a message for the audience to show their inner selves. Bruno thought the dance was out, loud and proud. Carrie Ann described the dance as FUN and applauded him for showing the ballroom dances that they had never seen before. Len called it wild, wacky and wonderful.

Scores: 10 | 10 | 10 | 10 = 40/40. I had been waiting for a dance like this since Britney Night and honestly they did not disappoint.

-

Amanda & Alan: It's gonna be weird seeing what they could come up for their freestyle after their dance last week. Amanda considers Alan a perfect partner for her because he let her out of that guarded shield after her husband died.

Whoa, an aerial dance for an intro? That's pretty creative. I like the vibe of this dance, so much happiness and freedom. That was a really great modern dance. Bruno thought that her star was reborn throughout that show and that she shone more because of the show. Carrie Ann calls her "hope and resilience personified". Len thanks for for being a thrill to watch, and Julianne pines that this show was only the beginning for her.

Scores: 10 | 10 | 10 | 10 = 40/40. I definitely agree; this experience was very cathartic for her and she feels freer than ever.

-

Jojo & Jenna: No matter what happens, Jojo is a true legend. She fought through hell and back, through all the haters and drama, and given us this amazing coming-of-age transformation. Also "Born This Way"? We see you.

Okay but that alien-esque backdrop and hairstyle? I'm digging it! Can we also just talk about how the pros made same-sex couples with Jojo and Jenna? Carrie Ann reassures her that role models like her who are trailblazers and part of the LGBTQIA+ community will be just fine. Len loved the huge mixes of jazz elements and ballroom/latin elements. Julianne believes that she is at that age where she can make change then declares herself a Siwanator. Bruno pines and wishes that someone like her was there when he was younger.

Scores: 10 | 10 | 10 | 10 = 40/40. Naturally. Even if she doesn't win this will inspire the show to try this again next season like what happened with Strictly. Which means we could probably get Frankie Grande next year. Ugh. I see him in the audience tonight.

-

Iman & Daniella: Booty is CLENCHED with apprehension for their freestyle. I made a bold prediction last week that they could probably win with the power of that alone if it's up to par. With Cody bringing in the ballroom and pole dancing, Amanda starting off in the air, and Jojo organizing a same-sex couple dance showcase, who knows what these two are gonna bring to the table? I see an outside dance troupe.

They are so much fun... omg this brings me back to 5th grade when I would listen to Missy Elliott nonstop! No crazy lifts like their jazz and contemporary but a straightforward hip hop routine. BRING BACK AMERICA'S BEST DANCE CREW ALREADY. Len considers this dance a reason to why this season is unpredictable like a book. Julianne is speechless at first, but then calls this the best freestyle she's seen in 30 seasons. Bruno absolutely loved it. Carrie Ann was impressed to see Iman showcase Dani.

Scores: 10 | 10 | 10 | 10 = 40/40. Iman has done WONDERS for Daniella's artistry and creativity. I see why people won't be mad at him if he wins.

God, everyone gave it their all and honestly they all deserve the Mirrorball. Here's a recap of the finalists:

Amanda Kloots had the most consistent run out of the four but if there's one thing that she and Alan have done, it's tug at our heartstrings. Her love for her late husband just resonated with every one of us, especially those who lost someone due to the virus. This was a bigger journey for her and it was a thrill to watch her progress through the sidelines.

Cody Rigsby came in as a favorite of mine but let me down the first couple weeks. Then he and Cheryl got COVID and it felt like they were too behind to catch up, but like a phoenix rising from the ashes you can't count them out and they started chugging their way and peaked at the right time.

I had been following Jojo Siwa's meteoric rise to stardom since she was 9 years old competing in Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition, so when she ended up in DWTS I already knew she was gonna be fantastic. What surprised me more and lured me in was seeing her transform from a girl into a woman, as well as shattering the veil of heteronormativity on the show. I really hope people start to take her seriously after this.

Iman Shumpert made the biggest strides for me. I wasn't entirely sure how well he'd do considering he's an NBA player and his height worked against him more often than not, but he pulled through and let Daniella's artistry shine brighter than ever. Even if they don't win this would surely set up Dani for an Emmy nod. Make it happen you cowards.

Results Time!
We've had 29 Mirrorball champions... and now we're going to crown another one. This is a nail biter.

In fourth place...

Amanda & Alan!

Expected.

In third place...

Cody & Cheryl!

It's between Iman & Daniella and Jojo & Jenna!

Will we have the first NBA player win or will the first same-sex couple win?

And the winner is...

OMG indeed, Tyra...

Iman & Daniella!

It really came down to the freestyle! This season has been MAD EPIC, and it's great to see a top 2 where I didn't care who the winner was. Congrats to both of the couples. NOW GIVE DANIELLA AN EMMY.

The way Harry Jowsey has managed to extend his career after being the most unbearable part of Too Hot To Handle’s first series should be studied.
