Two strong earthquakes registering at M7.8 and M7.5 hit southeastern Türkiye and northwestern Syria as they hit in the early morning and throughout the day. Dozens of aftershocks followed. The aftermath is horrendous, as thousands of buildings collapsed. The death toll is rising still as rescue work has already begun. R.I.P. to everyone that is affected in this tragic disaster.

I am quite in shock at how steeply the death toll rocketed. Very poor area of the country though, already put under enormous pressure by being the first point of exit from a decade-long civil war just over the border.

My school weren't initially doing anything. I made it my mission to do something and... we ended up raising close to £500! A super proud moment <3
