Orson had the worst selling sales #1, with 17,694 sales back in 2006. ohmy.gif

iOS 8.4 (the software needed for Apple Music) is launching at 4pm UK time on Tuesday, with Beats 1 launching an hour later at 5pm UK time. I don't know whether the new iTunes will be available at the same time or delayed for a day or two in case they want to stagger the release so their servers are under less pressure!

I'm not sure if this was previously discussed, but the iTunes chart will become a combination of downloads & streaming.

Interesting! ohmy.gif This really does look like it will massively accelerate the decline of download sales.

Already signs of Apple Music changing everything, AC/DC's albums have shown up on spotify, deezer etc. No exclusive for apple music then but it does suggest that the final hold outs for streaming music may have finally realized that streaming is where it seems to be at now

Once iTunes starts other sites will follow, streaming will become more dominant, I wonder if OCC increase the ratio I should imagine they will.

Ooh I wasn't expecting that, but that's of course very useful for us - and possibly means we'll get a constantly updating chart rather than Spotify where we're lucky to get it once a day. If that's the case I wonder how the available-to-stream not yet available-to-download songs will appear.

HA.

One of the reasons of including streaming into the charts is apparently that Radio 1 didn't want to have a replica of iTunes chart as the official one, and now they are probably going to look very similar again. But maybe Spotify will be able to save a huge share of market?

Maybe they'll still show a sales only chart on the iTunes store itself, which is still going to be completely separate

I wonder if Mr. Popjustice got confused possibly because the chart in the music app was the same as the chart in the iTunes Store app and therefore presumed it was all combined, yet when the service actually launches the music app may start showing a different chart as the streams begin?

Maybe so! ohmy.gif

I look forward to seeing all the features and how it works. iOS 8.4 and Apple Music should be available to download from 4pm UK time. *.*

I'm going to try and resist downloading for the first couple of hours as there is bound to be server issues, but maybe I will cave in straight away! kink.gif

The Beats 1 radio station is launching at 5pm our time, so you have an hour to update if you want to be there for launch!

Surely the ratio won't be increased, that would only further damage the effect of downloads/the odd physical have on the chart. There isn't really any reason for them to adjust it. tongue.gif

There's no need surely. If streams go up and downloads go down, streaming will just increase its power on the chart naturally.

Personally I find this very hard to believe. Plenty of countries include streaming in their official charts now, with no reason to believe there's any anti-iTunes mentality behind their decision. I'm sure the rationale for the OCC was no different to anywhere else in the world.
