QUOTE(Houdini @ Aug 12 2021, 02:34 PM) *
It's that time of the year again when the BBC pundits make their predictions for the new Premier League season. 20 of them made predictions this time and interestingly none of them said that Manchester United or Liverpool will win the title.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58141017

It's no surprise really. Whoever wins the season before is normally the big favourites with the pundits, City have the best squad although it will be interesting to see how the cope with crowds back. I know it's only pre-season but Liverpool seem to be playing a much more agressive pressing game, which was missing last season with no crowds. I still do think City benefitted massively from the lack of fans. Be interesting to see what happens if they don't get Kane too.

As for Chelsea, I think Lukaku will turn them in to a great side but I've listened to a few podcasts and a few journalists have said there is a lot of recency bias with Chelsea and Tuchel is still in the honeymoon period.. which I would subscribe to.

I think with Chelsea it's more the idea that the Champions of Europe will automatically go on to be Champions of England when it doesn't always turn out that way. I don't see much difference with what Tuchel is doing compared to what Roberto Di Matteo did as Chelsea manager, Chelsea are more of a cup team than a league team. They were quite fortunate to win the Champions League last season, everything fell into place for them at the right time.

It's the battle to avoid relegation that I'm most looking forward to this season as I think it will be very open and it will be intriguing to see how Brentford perform in their first season in the Premier League. They've got a lethal goalscorer in Ivan Toney who won the golden boot in the Championship last season and with a packed home stadium I think they will cause quite a lot of surprises.

I wish we could play Leeds at Old Trafford every week laugh.gif , a hat trick for Bruno and 4 assists for Pogba. A great start to the season!

It was a great result for Brentford last night as well and from what I saw of that match it was fully deserved.

If United don’t win the league I would be shocked with the investment over the last number of years!

A fantastic start to the season for Brentford, that must really give them a morale boost going into the next few weeks. Leeds, on the other hand...

Crystal Palace and Arsenal in the bottom three. I'd settle for that at the end of the season laugh.gif

Only The second time in premier league history that 2 of the 3 promoted clubs have won their opening day fixtures.

Brentford were superb last night, hope they can continue and think they'd certainly be able to finish well clear of trouble. Interesting results today, Leicester fortunate by the sounds of it, and good win for Watford. Again, the side that came up was better than the one which went down so staying up a definite possibility, but summer business typical Watford randomness so never really sure what to expect.

I hope Brentford can continue as well. When they got promoted, I was hoping for a few close results and giving the big 6 a fright. I certainly wasn't expecting a win against Arsenal.

It’s a bizarre idea made up in greedy businessmen’s heads! Probably happen though!

Great to see Wrighty on MOTD after being on itv this summer.

Luke Ayling scored a cracker today as was the ball by Pogba for Greenwood’s goal!
