A lowkey surprise release on a Saturday evening only a few short months after her previous album, sweetener, had come out, the song was still able to be an immediate success; gifting Ariana with her first ever #1 in America and her first in the UK since 'Bang Bang' in 2014. The track is about finding solace after failed relationships, and famously references some of her most famous exes (Big Sean, Ricky Alvarez, Mac Miller and Pete Davidson) while the video recreates scenes from four classic teen Rom-Coms including Mean Girls, Bring It On, Legally Blonde and 13 Going on 30 and includes a Kris Jenner cameo 5 years before Meghan Trainor had the idea. 05. thank u, next (12/29 votes | 41.38% 06.  Honestly 5th is better than I would've expected for 'thank u, next' so that's done very well. Still going with 'Break Free' which is quite far behind the other three for me! |
