Kind of crazy that all of this line-up had won Oscars before so whoever won would have multiple Oscars In yerms of careers, Waltz is probably least deserving so I'd have preferred another winner in that sense but not seen the movie so can't really comment.
1 Phillip Seymour Hoffman
2 Tommy Lee Jones
3 Robert De Niro
4 Alan Arkin
Hoffman was the only amazing one here, totally believable as a charismatic leader of a religious movement. Lee Jones was good and had some decent moments in the film but was my least fave of the Lincoln nominees. I like DeNiro in SLP but the performance was perhaps a little light. Same for Arkin who didn't really have much to do except provide some laughs.
This year could've been a much stronger year with a different set of nominees. I'd keep the top two and add in Sacha Baron Cohen (Les Mis), Ewan McGregor (The Impossible) & Dwight Henry (Beasts of the Southern Wild)!!
None of them scream Oscar winner to me defo agree about Ewan deserving to be there.
