Many thanks to the 18 of you that submitted an entry to this weird and wonderful Experimental edition of TBSCITW...E! (it will catch on x). There's a wide variety of genres and eras to become immersed in, though please refrain from revealing yourself just yet as this contest is anonymous.

Please familiarise yourself with the below songs and when you're ready to vote, please send me a PM detailing your 10 favourite songs in the Eurovision voting style:

12; (Your favourite)
10; (Your 2nd favourite)
08; (Your 3rd favourite)
07 through to 01; Your 4th to 10th favourites

Those who have submitted an entry must vote or they will face a deduction to their entry in the final results, non-participants are also welcome to vote should they want to (and why wouldn't you x). The deadline is Friday 16th February 23:59, a little under two weeks but should still be enough time x

Now prepare to immerse yourselves in the bizarre wonderland that is the Gallery of the Surreal

In a playlist of over 6000 songs that Yellow Magic Orchestra entry was the final one I got on shuffle last night before I went to bed, spooky! Intrigued to find out who sent that.

Most of these look unfamiliar so looking forward to diving in.

Lol even in this theme we get a Pet Shop Boys entry! (Did Depeche Mode and UNKLE/DJ Shadow not have any experimental enough songs to pop up too? kink.gif)

Don't think I know any of these songs but some promising artist names as usual, looking forward to hearing the Autechre, Björk, Goldie and Yellow Magic Orchestra songs especially.

Well I can already see where I’m sending my max points to this time with a former fave!

I’m glad I managed to enter this as I wasn’t sure my entry fit the bill but glad that it does!

When an 18 minute song is sent to a contest and it's not even close to being the longest drama.gif

That is a good point and I will listen to all the others with an open mind, but familiarity may get the better of me.

Was thinking for a second there was going to be another hour long entry here after seeing this post! (but instead it's a mere 24 minutes which is nothing really xo)

The whole playlist is 1 hour 50 minutes which is a lot for 18 songs but pretty comparable to the length of a typical BJSC semi. I guess it's not surprising a theme like this would attract some very long entries.

More familiar names than I was expecting, and glad to see the 60's in there. I was within a whisker of going for an unexpected 60's experimental track but I thought it would have been poo-poohed for being too short at 3 minutes laugh.gif

Regarding the likes of PSBs being entered so often - how do people feel about that?

We always said that we'd try not to limit things too much, and this particular track is a b-side so it's hardly the cheapest song in the list, but do people get fed up of the same acts or do you not mind?

I don’t mind at all. If the song’s good and it fits the theme I’ll vote for it.

We could miss really good discoveries if we start shutting artists out - and for some of the themes (not this one so much) it’s been hard enough to not repeat artists as it is.

I don't really mind, I just find it kind of amusing, especially for this particular theme.

Same, my reply was a bit of a joke, I don't mind A-ha, Depeche or PSB entered as far it's not hit singles
especially if it's random album tracks or b-sides like here

Spotify playlist;

Thank you! All playlists there now. I should note that the streaming version of Autechre is longer than the video version, and there doesn't seem to be any edit available so depends if you want the full long song experience I guess x

(I mean why would you not given we have 44 minutes taken up by two entries cheeseblock.png)
