BuzzJack Music Forum _ Indie, Rock and Alternative _ Foo Fighters - Medicine at Midnight

Foo Fighters should be releasing a new single 'Shame Shame' tomorrow, as revealed on Shazam! (which also reveals their 10th album will be titled 'Medicine at Midnight') They're also performing on SNL which pretty much confirms it.

Quite interested to see how this goes, they've been hinting at it being a "dance-rock" album inspired by Bowie's "Let's Dance" - which certainly intrigues me!

This is a big surprise, looking forward to hearing this

Posted by: gavindeejay 6th November 2020, 07:17 AM

Looking forward to this! I presume it’ll be out later today.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 6th November 2020, 03:33 PM

Rumours are that it will be this evening for the US! Not too sure yet though laugh.gif

The source code on their website has revealed the album will be out on February 5th

"Shame Shame" was released tonight following their performance at SNL.

It's not an obvious choice for lead single, but it's interesting to see them doing something different! And I'm enjoying the grooviness of it. Leaks for the album have shown there will be some hard rock songs on the album if you prefer those!

Posted by: gavindeejay 8th November 2020, 02:00 PM

It's certainly not what i was expecting the Foo's to lead with. It seems to be falling in the 'Ok' bracket for me at the moment, there's something missing and I just can't put my finger on it.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 16th November 2020, 08:10 AM

This has massively grown on me, very groovy!

Posted by: FestiveOdyssey 29th December 2020, 06:53 PM

Hopefully this means something is out this week!

Posted by: FestiveOdyssey 30th December 2020, 12:28 PM

'No Son Of Mine' is out on NYE, sounds like a banger! (I'm not sure if it means the release date is Dec 31st or Jan 1st?)

Confirmed for Friday now, rather than Thursday

Posted by: gavindeejay 1st January 2021, 10:18 AM

......And here it is.....

It’s good on first listen, abit more Foo Fighters than ‘Shame Shame’

Yes I thought before I listened to it that the Foo Fighters track would be a cover of the Genesis song too.

Posted by: FestiveOdyssey 4th January 2021, 05:47 PM

I don't think they'd release a cover as a single for a studio album tongue.gif

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 14th January 2021, 11:03 AM

"Waiting On A War" is out at 1pm GMT, this is one that's been hyped by the fans for quite a while!

Posted by: gavindeejay 14th January 2021, 11:32 AM

Ohh Is this officially the next single?

I have no idea really laugh.gif I think it will be this one though, as No Son Of Mine doesn't seem to have been sent to US radio

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 14th January 2021, 01:10 PM

Beautiful wub.gif probably my favourite of the 3!

Waiting On A War is the best thing they've released for a LONG time, such a tune!! What's the official second single though?

Waiting on a War has been playlisted by Radio 1 so I should think it’s the official second single.

'Waiting On A War' video, and it's been up to the B-list at Radio 1 this week!

Posted by: Tomato Bré 26th January 2021, 02:59 AM

I wasn't super keen on the previous 2 singles / tracks but 'Waiting On A War' is a tune, sounds much more like the classic Foo Fighters sound. (The final minute of it *.*)

Posted by: steve201 29th January 2021, 12:21 AM

Love the upbeat last minute!!

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 1st February 2021, 03:40 AM

This album should be an easy number 1 for them.

Posted by: gavindeejay 6th February 2021, 02:43 PM

Really enjoying this album, great to hear them exploring a more funk-rock sound in this album. I found 'Concrete and Gold' a bit of a let down, so glad to hear them back on top form.

Gave this a spin today and sounds decent on first listen, like it’s short and sweet!

Posted by: Mangø 10th February 2021, 10:16 AM

I'm gonna stick my neck out and say this is my favourite Foo Fighters album to date! Although tbf I've never been huge on their albums, they've always been more of a singles band for me. There's some excellent songs on this though, 'No Son Of Mine', 'Medicine At Midnight' and 'Love Dies Young' all stand out!

Posted by: gooddelta 10th February 2021, 11:16 AM

It is indeed a very strong album, their best since Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace for me.

Waiting On A War I agree is their best single in quite a few years, and I also really like Making A Fire, No Son Of Mine, and the more mellow but quite beautiful Chasing Birds.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 11th February 2021, 01:11 PM

I agree with all the above, it's a fantastic album! "Waiting On A War" is destined to be a future Foos classic

Live Lounge performance:

They unfortunately didn't cover anything, but also performed "Times Like These"

Posted by: steve201 12th February 2021, 12:08 AM

I agree ‘Shame’ is one of my favourite songs of theirs now given it’s not a normal sound for them!

Posted by: DwarfGiant 13th March 2021, 11:46 AM

I used to love the Foo Fighters but they really have become a generic, middle of the road, dad rock band. People must be buying the new album just because Dave is a nice guy

Loving this new Mark Ronson version of 'Making A Fire'!
