IT is one of Elton John’s most loved songs, with the words known by millions around the globe.
But you may have to relearn Tiny Dancer when you hear the new version he has created with Britney Spears.
He has teamed up with the US superstar for a rendition of the 1971 tune, and I can reveal she tweaked the lyrics and offered to sing a new verse for the remix, which is due out later this month.
The single, to be called Hold Me Closer, will be her first single in six years.
But it won’t be a straight- forward cover of Tiny Dancer, as it also features clever samples from other songs released by Elton, including his 1992 track The One.
A source said: “Elton has helped countless artists throughout the years, both publicly and privately, and has been well aware of Britney’s battle to escape her conservatorship.
“They have known each other for years, with Elton personally inviting Brit to a number of his famous Oscar parties.
"He genuinely wants the best for her and to hear them on a track together is amazing.
"He was very keen to make it clear they are both on a level playing field when it comes to credits.
“It will be ‘Elton John, Britney Spears’ — she won’t simply be a featured artist.
“And she will get the money she deserves from the earnings.”
Speaking about her love of Elton, Britney previously said: “I am the biggest fan in the world of him. Me and my mum, we love him to death.”
It’s safe to say he’s a Brit of a fan, too.

Elton John has now confirmed that his rumoured Britney Spears re-work of Tiny Dancer will be released 19/8/22.
Britney Spears and Elton John's "Hold Me Closer" remake of the singer's "Tiny Dancer" will have some new elements from the OG version, namely, the song will have a "dance vibe," TMZ has learned.
Sources connected to the project tell us Britney only needed 3 hours to record her verses for the track. We're told she met with producer Andrew Watt at his home in Beverly Hills, and Elton appeared on Zoom to go over the single with Britney -- as he was out of town.
Our sources say Elton only wanted Britney for the remake, and had previously recorded his vocals, so she could listen in and add her parts.
We're told after some mixing, Britney returned to the studio the next day to listen to the finished product ... and couldn't be more excited. The hope is for the song to be out by the end of the month, before the Grammy submission deadline.

Someone on ATRL is saying the song is out on 26th August.
This would mean the song comes out on Glory's 6 year anniversary, so basically 6 years to the day she last released music.
tbh noone ever confirmed it was coming august 19th. it was rumoured and a few social media accounts have run with it.

I really think it's an excuse. They realised BLACKPINK are releasing tonight and knew they'd take all the social media hype away for the weekend. Hence why there were rumours of them delaying it earlier today/late last night, but now they're using the leak as an excuse.
It's ok though, coz 'Heartbreak Anthem' was leaked like 3 months before it was released or something and went on to be a major hit for Little Mix still.
Blackpink are lucky to scrape the top 40 half the time I can’t see them delaying it JUST because of that, surely they’d want to avoid the VMA week instead? Unless there’s plans we don’t know about

The leak reminds me very much of the 2007 'Gimme More' leak tbh - we all heard of the song and then it just appeared online.
the only thing i will say is elton's vocals on the second verse seem really quiet?
The thing I love the most about this is that you can tell Britney WANTED to do this. Like, there's just something in her vocals that feel very liberating and fresh and she sounds like she's had the time of her life recording it. I can't even begin to imagine what working on this song as a free woman must have felt like for her!

It's so great that Elton has been so encouraging and believes in her fully, and also how Britney was in command in the studio while recording it - hopefully this alongside commercial success will help to rebuild Britney's confidence. She deserves everything.
I heard the demo version a couple of times when it leaked but I didn't want to overplay it, so I've been patiently waiting for today's release. I love it! It's such a breezy chilled song, perfect for the end of summer. Britney sounds really good - those runs at the end of the track are beautiful!

This is such a nice breezy summer tune. Would have liked more solo parts for each like cold heart did but you can still hear both at least and the ad libs are nice. Hopefully an extended mix comes out at some point as it does feel a little short.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this. Was a bit underwhelmed when I saw that her first song back was a cover remix with Elton John. But… just gave it a first listen on Spotify and I think it sounds great. Such a cute photo too. Seems kinda poetic actually taking a step back in time when she was fearless and confident. Obviously I’ve just purchased it on itunes and will give it my allocated lot of streams.
Oh and I’m for sure enjoying the ad libs - go Britney. I hope it creates more than enough hype and leads to a solo project for Brit #dreaming

I'm more happy this exists and looks possibly like being a hit for the artists rather than the song itself. It's Cold Heart Part II but not quite so 'cool' as Tiny Dancer is just a bit naff as an original song. Will need to give it a few more goes and I'm glad radio support is great for it!

I wish Britney at least had her own solo section but she compliments Elton very well. It’s great to see her dipping her toe back into the world of music on her own terms. It’s a good modern update of a classic, although I do prefer Cold Heart.
Great to see the strong radio support so early on. Hopefully in bodes we’ll for chart success.
After a few more listens it's just okay tbh. Not massively stanning it but I'm still here for it giving Britney a much needed big hit again.
I wish I was like you guys and more neutral on it, but I'm loving it and it's legit just getting better and better for me and I feel like Britney sounds like she actually wanted to record this and I think it's clear she wanted to as well.

I do like it and I’ll bop to it every time it’s on radio or in the club, it’s just not wowing me like I wanted it to, probably because it does take the same formula as Cold Heart. However, after reading what Elton said about the track and Britney, I do feel like this is a good song to ease Britney back into the public arena. It’s a safe bet hit but will show Britney she has the support and love of everyone, without the pressure of it being ‘her’ song, and should hopefully build her confidence back up for when she decides to record her own music.
Listened to this just now as been busy since its release... its quite bad isn't it!
Too much voice changer and its sounds like Elton is singing with a computer most of the times.

It's ... not great, is it? It's just Elton, with some Britney backing vox. At least you can tell she wasn't forced to sing it, and isn't Microsoft Britney.
I TOLD YOU when she was releasing those DIRE songs - Hold it Against Me a particularly EGREGIOUS example - that she was being forced to do it, but nooo, I was wrong 
THIS is what she sounds like when not forced to release robodance thst she hsd zero say in.
However, this song isn't it. If it serves her tos ee if there is still interest, or if she eants to continue singing, etc, then grrat.
I'm NOT surprised by playlist and rsdio adds etc, esp with Elton after Icy Heart. Britney id a TOPIC right now, even amongst teenagers, with the Free Britney Movement, etc etc (and what I was saying was PROVEN - it wasn't conspiracy She WAS being forced to sing snd perform and had no say in it.) Even without Elton, she would have got the adds, thanks to the interest, with it being her first song since In The Zone/ Blackout!
I genuinely think this is actually really good, it captures that end of summer vibe so well and it's nice to hear a vocal from her again that isn't the gargling baby voice.
I remarkably never even liked the original song either.
Well, if it does well, she can use it as a paltform to launch off and build back her confidence.
Terrible what the industry did to her!! She could have bern thr next Madonna! Although, once Lady GaGa, Rihanna and Beyoncé started, she would have had stiff competition, so maybe the next Janet Jackson, with similar rnb-pop songs, full of energy.
I hope they release it on cd/7” vinyl like they did with Cold Heart, might help push it to number 1 at some point

The way HMC has had 71m streams in like 40(?) days with a basic video with no Britney, barely any acknowledgment from Britney and is surpassing the 6 year song with an excellent video, multiple performances, etc.
It really shows what a difference play listing and having a good team does!
