Given that multi-artist albums have their own chart, should we now start a separate chart for singles that credit more than a certain number of artists - this might stop the blatant farce of multi-artist crediting.

A song with many artists on it is in no way comparable to a compilation album. It only seems to be you who has a problem with this, so no. Case closed.

This isn't an issue whatsoever so no, this shouldn't and won't happen.

Also if such a thing were to happen (it wouldn't, and doesn't need to) then artists would just take the Avicii approach of not crediting the featured guests...

if the all contribute why they cannot be featured That logic rather fails when you consider the Band Aid singles, for example... A song with many artists on it is in no way comparable to a compilation album. It only seems to be you who has a problem with this, so no. Case closed. Well, you're not the one that has to type long artist names/ft artists into a spreadsheet. |

Arguably it is a fairer way of credited those involved in a song that we have had historically, a guest rap on an 80s or 90s track would often be uncredited but clearly the main artist thought they would gain something by having it.

Well, you're not the one that has to type long artist names/ft artists into a spreadsheet. Why don't you copy and paste? Besides, I prep every top 40 hit for the chart thread and it doesn't bother me at ALL if a song has loads of featured artists, I just type it out or copy and paste, I'm more worried about accuracy. It's such a non-issue. |

The most baffling feature for me remains Janelle Monáe on We Are Young, she does like one short line doesn't she and then walks kinda slowly in the video for a while? It took me about 10 listens to actually spot her on it. But hey, she has a #1!

Jonelle Monae isnt as bad a Tony Christie's amirillo, Peter Kaye got a credit for just appearing in the video!

I'm thinking a 'least effort to get a hit' thread is in order!

Two of Drake's recent hit "singles" weren't written, produced, sung or rapped by Drake. We have a winner already.
(Namely 'Skepta Interlude' (Skepta) and '4422' (Sampha)) |

What a ridiculous suggestion. If you just use copy and paste for the feature artists surely that makes it way more easier. I know thats what I do anyway

Nah they're just making their own version of Blazin' Squad - and they weren't separated (unfortunately) so why should others?

I agree that all these featured artists can be irritating but it's the inconsistency that makes it worse. Some artists can pop into s studio on their way to the shops, shake a tambourine and then resume their journey and still get a credit. Others provide a substantial part of the vocals and don't get credited at all. That just makes it even more difficult to compare weeks on chart for current artists with those from the 1970s
