All change at the top as this week sees a surprise late bloom surge from Grace and DJ Cassidy with Lil Yachty. Honor gives all three contributors their highest-peaking track and first chart topper. Last week’s #1 from Lana Del Rey slips to #2 and is joined in the top 5 by another track from latest album Lust For Life, Beautiful People Beautiful Problems featuring Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac fame, an early album standout for me. BPBP’s ascension gives Lana a 6th top 5 track running. Yungen’s Bestie also re-peaks within this week’s top 5, and is joined by Marian Hill’s Wild, which ascends to #3 to become the alternative act’s highest peaker this year of three charters.

There’s a few new movers into the top 10, Sultan and Shepard’s Nadia Ali collab Almost Home is a welcome return for both and re-peaks at #6, Steve James and RKCB ascend to #8, and DJ Khaled’s Wild Thoughts zooms back up to re-peak in the top 10 for a fifth week after a few weeks of yo-yoing. In terms of brand new entries, again this week has a bunch, mainly down the low end. This week’s highest new entry goes, surprisingly, to ex-Eurovision winner Mans Zelmerlow with latest single We Can Be The Rulers, which I actually like a lot. Other notable new entries include the return of Pink, a debut from my favourite BJSC entry from last contest Kari Kimmel, Beck, Shakira, and Camila Cabello among others.

All new entries will be getting individual video links and a bit of commentary later on in the week, so check back and that’ll save you having to search them out individually, I’ll update the thread title accordingly when those are done. Apologies also for not getting last week’s up, I ended up having a much busier weekend than I anticipated. I’ll throw something up between now and the end of the week.
For now, the top 40 for this third week of August, now one year into doing these:

Hey Jupiter,

Glad to see you're a fan of Bestie, it's a surprise hit for me this year, both officially too. ohmy.gif

I believe your #8 entry this week was in my very first BJSC contest, courtesy of South Danaelanda. cheer.gif

My other highlight is of course Love In Ruins which was a former Track Of The Week for me. yahoo.gif

If you haven't yet done so, please be sure to check out my chart for this week — Top 40 Countdown by awardinary (W/E 24/08/2017).

Splendid chart! cool.gif

Actually doing writeup this week! Surprise! This week's topper was a slow burner I first came across maybe three or four months ago. Grace looks fab in the classy and stylised video, and the song is actually really solid, just a shade off mainstream but a great bop. DJ Cassidy's previous claim to fame, if anyone remembers, is an awful song three or so years ago with Jessie J and Robin Thicke, coming at a time both of their popularities were tanking. It didn't help.

Not so many brand new entries this week. Let's lead off with the long-awaited return of Pink, who blasts straight into the UK top 5 this week despite five years away from the album circuit. She doesn't disappoint. This will surely rise for me over the next few weeks.

Highest new entry this week at #18 comes from Måns Zelmerlöw. I'm not always too fussed on post-Eurovision acts' follow-up releases, but this one has struck a chord with me in a way a lot of Måns's tracks haven't. Nice!

Back down at the bottom end, Camila Cabello with one of her double-release songs. I preferred this one to Havana, but from the thread replies there I'm in the minority. Having said that, I didn't like Crying in the Club so much either. Entering at #40 this week, OMG lands just shy of the latter track's #37 peak.

Back into the middle, a belated new entry for Youngr. Monsters has been hovering on my B playlist for probably a few months now, but resonated enough to move onto A through August. Youngr's previously charted once with 2016 #1 and spotify hit Out Of My System.

Gryffin and Sinead Harnett team up for Love in Ruins, which I have on good authority will be someone's entry for BJSC98. Enjoy the preview. It's Gryffin's third charter for me this year, following up his remix of Sigrid's Don't Kill My Vibe, and Daya/Illenium collab Feel Good which was a top ten for me.

Glue becomes Fickle Friends' third running charter for me, landing in between the mid-30s peak of previous single Hello Hello and #1 Brooklyn.

Shakira notches up another from her latest album with a belated entry for Coconut Tree. It's actually a sweet song despite the odd title that at first put me off.

Another entry here from newcomer Dominique, whose previous single ended up in my year-end top 100 of 2016.

More under-the radar from Brasstracks and Roses Gabor, who some readers might recognise as the vocalist from SBTRKT's Pharaohs, although for some of you that's going back in time a bit. Not to be confused with Chainsmokers and Galantis vocalist ROZES or her song of the same name.

Finally we close this week with an older track from Beck. It's a long song, going off-piste for me, and more into the alternative swing than a lot of this week's charters. Debra was recently featured in the film Baby Driver which is where it caught my attention, just enough to chart. Beck could do with more entries anyway.

And that's us for the week. I may or may not pop into last week's thread and drop some links in too as I didn't get a chance to last weekend! If you have comments or thoughts, fire away biggrin.gif and ty for whoever rated this five stars, yay biggrin.gif
