HEY QT! YEAHHHH *.*
Looks like "Bills" for #1 and "Runaway (U & I)" for the Top 5? I expect both to stick around for quite a while anyway
Posted by: Ryan. May 9 2015, 11:14 PM
I hope 'Bills' somehow gets stuck behind Omi and Wiz, but I can't see it happening.
Posted by: 'Dan May 9 2015, 11:17 PM
g'won Galantis!! hoping they 'runaway' to the top 10 this week.
LunchMoney Lewis obviously gonna be a #1 then, it's not bad.
Posted by: LeeWallace May 9 2015, 11:17 PM
I'm delighted to see Jessie J expecting to flop again.
I'm guessing the end of Jesise J is near in the UK. 'Sweet Talker' and 'Alive' both really performed poor.
'Runaway' to smash everything please.

'Runaway (U & I)' being released. Easily my favourite song of the year thus far.

Nightwish listed among the releases *.* Looking forward to trying to spot sightings of it in the top 1500.
Bills & Runaway will be very welcome top 10 tracks, particularly the latter, they'd better get some lovely longevity too. Seinabo and QT too, this is a great week for new releases!

was hoping it'd be higher by now but still think it could go top 10 this week

The Bills track is the most atrocious track of the year, I would prefer Runaway over it at #1, but its not going to happen.

And Galantis we all want top 5. Younger hopefully aiming for a top 40 hit I hope, it's very good (as expected with Kygo ) that Marvin Gaye one is great also!

4. LunchMoney Lewis- Bills
Come on 'Bills' keep climbing to that #1 position. Prefer this to 'Cheerleader'.
6. Skrillex & Diplo with Justin Bieber- Where Are U Now
Didn't a few people think that Justin Bieber wouldn't have a song in the Top10 again?
19. Galantis- Runaway (You And I)

I'm not a fan of the song, but I don't mind it doing well. There's not anything that interests me out this week.
Hopefully songs like Cheerleader, Lean On and Where Are U Now hold up well.

would've been very appropriate if 'Bills' was this year's election #1 but I can get behind it going to #1 this week too, it's grown on me a bit recently and it's a fun song.

Glad I'm not the only one wondering this - I can't even find anything relevant on YouTube, which seemed the obvious place to look.
I'd guess somebody did some streetdancing to 2 Unlimited on Britain's Got Talent, but I don't watch it so I'm not sure.

Has Leona's 'Fire Under My Feet' shown up anywhere as a pre-order? It's apparently been put up on iTunes today. Hopefully it rises high after its première tomorrow.

I had a look on Twitter and it's a charity song, Anna doesn't even have her own Twitter page but just lots of campaigning from people to buy the song.

Ah yes, I see now. Still not sure why she hasn't put up at least a clip on YouTube though.
Posted by: Jonjo May 10 2015, 01:18 PM
So Lunchmoney Lewis and OMI look set to be the top 2 this week?
Yeah, by FAR and away the worst top 2 of the year so far.

Wouldn't mind bills going to #1 as I started to like it the other day
Also hope talking body holds on well
Posted by: Liаm May 10 2015, 01:20 PM
Bills is ok for now, but I'm rapidly going off of it and will hate it when it's everywhere soon enough. That replacing one of the two worst songs of the year in possibly the worst top 2 I can remember is fine by me.
Posted by: Joe. May 10 2015, 01:21 PM
Don't mind Bills - better than Wiz/Omi for me, so a better number 1. Hoping Carly manages to hold onto the top 5, despite being dropped from R1 and having never even made the top 15 on airplay.
Runaway to not chart any lower than #8 please.
Posted by: Jonjo May 10 2015, 01:23 PM
298. Ed Sheeran - Photograph
Video has premiered. It's a home movie video of Ed Sheeran growing up. It's really sweet. My favourite song from him, by a mile. I doubt it'll go anywhere near the top 40 but it should sell the album! (We all know he needs to sell more copies of 'x' before it's in danger of becoming a flop!)
Posted by: JosephO'Meara May 10 2015, 01:26 PM
Bills and Cheerleader would be a fantastic top 2 for me! I've said it before but I find it hard to get behind most novelty songs, but Bills just hits the spot for me, and Cheerleader is one of my favourite dance songs of recent times
Posted by: mr_aly May 10 2015, 01:29 PM
I don't quite know what to make of this 'Bills' thing yet, but it won't be as bad as 'Lay Me Down' in terms of this year's #1s.

yawn @ 'Worth It' Will probably sail to #1 just to spite me
Posted by: brefardan May 10 2015, 09:27 PM
The Kygo remix of 'Younger' can be bought both from the single release, and from the EP. Maybe sales are split between the two, hence why the top version isn't climbing very quickly? Then there's the original version too, which is what Radio 1 seem to be playing. Possibly a reason why it is underperforming? Fingers crossed it will continue to rise!
Posted by: SLlewellyn May 10 2015, 09:32 PM
The release of "Younger" in the UK has been handled quite strangely actually. I first heard the original on R1 a few weeks back and just can't seem to get into the Kygo version. Think stations would be better off pushing the original anyway, "Firestone" is still popular and "Stole the Show" has all the makings to storm up the charts if radio got on board.
While not the greatest track in the world, I do quite like "Bills"; nice to see something fun/different (but not novelty) reaching the number-one spot. Wonder how it'll fare on streaming.

I heard that Wilkinson song on Radio 1 before the chart earlier, it's basically the same as the last few singles to my ears Generic drum and bass with an uninteresting male vocal. Flush.
Each to their own I guess
Personally, I think it's very laid back for drum & bass, the sort you could play in the evening when you're chilling. Wilkinson is often overlooked for the likes of DJ Fresh, Chase & Status and Rudimental, but his songs are solid and well produced.
QUOTE(Mart!n @ May 10 2015, 10:16 PM)
Natalie, DJ S.K.T and Charles Hamilton are out in the same week unless someone drops early, otherwise it be quite a chart battle, the iLL BLU track with James Morrison sounds like a #1 to me, will probably have competition from Rudimental from the previous week.
I've thought Lonely People could be a big hit ever since I first heard it! Got loads of crossover appeal and plenty will be intrigued by James Morrison's return to music on a house track. I'd love it to go #1, but if it ended up in the top 20 I'd be satisfied for iLL Blu.

I'm not all that big on the new Wilkinson track, probably his worst one so far (but he's got some fantastic tracks).

While not the greatest track in the world, I do quite like "Bills"; nice to see something fun/different (but not novelty) reaching the number-one spot. Wonder how it'll fare on streaming.
I think Bills will do very well on streaming and be #3 on spotify by the end of the week. That T-Wayne song is so funny, I wonder how long it took him to write that song?
Leona up to 343 now. Making good progress. Hopefully it gets a big boost after the first play this morning. Release date on the pre-order also says June 7th, not the 21st, so it looks like it has been brought forward.

I think that because I heard the snippet way back in December I wasn't really overwhelmed by it at first. But then once I played it on full volume, I realised how strong a single this actually is for Leona. Her notes at the end are true Leona. I also think the lyrics in the verses are brilliant: "Living with Lions / Tigers and Titans / Afraid to get hurt / Now I'm making them purr" / "Drowning in quicksand / Nobody takes my hand / I thought it buried me / But now I am set free". I think many people associate the words "boring", "depressing" and "ballad" with Leona and I think this songs contradicts all three descriptions. It's uplifting, empowering and catchy, something the general public and radio *should* eat up.

June 7th doesn't have much competition - plus Leona has a lot of promotion coming up plus a performance on the 7th on Sunday night at the Palladium on the day of release. If she gets good radio support I wouldn't be surprised if she was a contender for #1.

It helped to stabilize it - It's #99 and has gone 98-97-99 on iTunes the last hour or so. Would've been out of the top 100 without the BBC Radio 1 play I think. I'm loving it so much at the moment, it's gorgeous.

Jess Glynne is the big British female pop star right now isn't she. The new Pixie/Duffy/Florence/Emeli/Rita

Unfortunately so.

Jess as a live performer is not very good, much as I like her.
*edit - listening to the Tinie song, it's good and sounds like it has huge potential... but it sounds more like something Olly Murs or someone of that ilk would release.

I would prefer 'Bills' not to make #1, so glad to see it may happen.

EDIT: And of course, ecstatic that Ariana is holding up *.* I presume she's had a slight increase in airplay due to being in the charts?

The highest I know of is Band Aid which got to #5 last year, but then iTunes crashed, so we didn't get to see where it peaked before release - I think most of us expected it would have been #1, if iTunes had not broken for 24 hours +.

Black Eyed Peas version easily. Got that Carribean vibe to it which tied in well to the music scene in 2003/4.

If Bills doesn't get there at the weekend then I'd imagine Omi will get 4 weeks there. Jason Derulo will be an obvious #1 but i'm unsure what will be #1 after? I can see Natalie La Rose and Walk The Moon being big but I can't necessarily them reaching #1. I guess Rudimental could do it but I'm not sure they can do at the moment.

Jason Derulo for sure, and Natalie most likely. After that it's hard to tell, Fifth Harmony have a very good chance if radio get behind them, and i think Rachel Platten will eventually be a big contender. Also wouldn't be surprised if Krept & Konan's 'Freak of the Week' was thereabouts too when it's out!
I'd hope to see Walk The Moon make the top 10, their airplay might be a bit limited at first (Capital FM will avoid it like the plague) but it's got a ton of hit potential regardless. Can't see Rudimental's new single going anywhere close to #1, maybe a Top 10 if it's lucky?

I agree about Jason but it wouldn't surprise me I Natalie gets stuck at #2. I am not sure what to think of Krept and Konan though. I really like the Rachel Platten so I hope that catches on. I agree about Rudimental but I can see it going top 5. Some people are predicting Leona but again, I think it'll just go top 5.
I can see Walk the Moon hanging around for a while too. I wonder if Maroon 5 newie could be in with a shot too.

I could see Jason with multiple weeks at #1 unless I'm missing an upcoming big release

I seriously hope that Walk The Moon rubbish doesn't get anywhere near #1 but I suspect it might. Can't see Rachel Platten (who?) or Krept/Konan doing anything either.
DJ S.K.T. looks a shoe in for top 5 at the moment (could even be higher). Rudimental should be a comfortable top 5 too I hope. iLL BLU is maybe the next big contender released the same week as Tinie Tempah as it stands so could be a big battle that week.

As much as I love it, I can't see Freak of the Week getting to #1. I can see it going top 10 though, can't go wrong with a Mustard beat and Jeremih hook.
I agree about Rudimental too, I've said it reminds me of Lost & Not Found before and I expect it to perform similarly.

Surprised that people are tipping iLL Blu to be a chart topper, I think anywhere in the top 40 would be a result for it. As much as I love it, I think it would have done better commercially released in June 2014!
