BuzzJack Music Forum _ UK Charts _ The race for this week's #1 single

Posted by: Dancember Dec 12 2016, 01:43 PM

We have a proper race this week but who will it be?

I am thinking Matt Terry at the moment he's doing well on iTunes and it'll be more of a streaming hit than Louisa last year as it's a Christmas song.

I think it's between CB and Louis

If Louis breaks the top 50 tomorrow (spotify) then he will have a huge bump in streaming which could help him out as he's got a huge lead on rockabye on iTunes

I think it's between Louis and Clean Bandit too. I can see Matt free-falling on iTunes within 2 days.

Yeah this is a really difficult week to call right now, I'm not ruling Matt out yet but I think I'm leaning towards Louis right now...

Also Matt needs to keep up with Friday, Saturday and Sunday sales.

Zayn is definitely out of question, Matt I think too, unless he has an impressive streaming start. Loius will need to jump on streaming into the top-50 today if he needs a major chance for #1. So CB are the most likely contender for me, with Loius having a major chance too.

What an exciting week/xmas week we will have - charity records (which seem to have peaked in previous years) vs XF (which is past it peak too but has an original xmas track release) vs genuine big pop stars of the era releasing vs huge current streaming songs like Clean Bandit vs huge old xmas hits like Mariah which are streamed a lot!

We are in an new era for the xmas no1 I think!!

It does seem at long last like we're finally having proper battles for the Christmas number one anyway biggrin.gif

I predict Louis Tomlinson & Steve Aoki.

Posted by: bah... humbug... Dec 12 2016, 02:25 PM

Well I can rule out ZAylor completely, its so difficult to predict I think its between Clean Bandit and Louis, once all the sales are factored in, Matt Terry could do it next week on a full week of sales, but that is still debatable.

The name Matt Terry is doing my head in, I'll keep on thinking its two people as Terry is common as a forename. laugh.gif

Clean Bandit

Posted by: christmdhas Dec 12 2016, 04:30 PM

ZAYlor can be ruled out, I think. I've got a feeling Louis could do it - pretty sure he'll climb massively on Spotify tomorrow, and I'm predicting Matt'll scrape #2.

Next week is ridiculous, though, I haven't got the faintest idea.

Close to call, but I'm going to say Louis & Steve Aoki.

All I Want For Christmas Is Mariah to be #1 basil.gif

Seriously though either her or Clean Bandit. I would have said Louis wouldn't be bad as I didn't mind it on first listen but I don't like it now. Although I think he has a good shot.

Mariah this week? That's a tad optimistic wink.gif

I really hope it's Clean Bandit. The others are crap.

Craig David must cause you huge problems laugh.gif

As an aside, I'm glad it's looking to be an unpredictable battle, but shame it might also be the lowest sales week of the year next week! Unless the charity records take off then 60k could be enough for Xmas #1!

I don't think you can win - low sales = unpredictable, and high sales = predictable seems to be the trend these days biggrin.gif

Clean Bandit.

63 people have voted and not one of them have selected Zaylor! laugh.gif

I hope it's Clean Bandit x

Seems very likely Clean Bandit will remain #1 this week then. I still expect they'll make way for Friends of Jo Cox / Matt Terry for Christmas week tho.

We know better than to bet on the wrong horse, unlike David Cameron. teresa.gif

Clean Bandit for #1 than next week's chart battle should be interesting.

Posted by: Steve201 Dec 15 2016, 06:41 PM

Does anyone think if the charity singles and Matt Terry/ Louis increase enough Rockabye could end up at no4/5 next week considering this week they're on for only around 60k?
