Sunday Chart Predictions
Predicting the 30/11 to 06/12 chart Will Labrinth's desire to be #1 make him jealous? It's achieved the title of the fastest selling single of the year, now Band Aid 30's 'Do They Know It's Christmas? (2014)' is looking set for a second week on top. Take That's comeback single (and first as a three-piece) 'These Days' and Labrinth's 'Jealous' should both debut Top 5 following their X Factor performances, whilst 'supergroup' McBusted's first single 'Air Guitar' heads for a Top 10 placing. Other new entries should include Years & Years' 'Desire', Kiesza's 'No Enemiesz', David Guetta and Emeli Sande's 'What I Did for Love', Ariana Grande's 'Santa Tell Me', James Bay's 'Hold Back the River' and Beyonce's '7/11'. James Newton Howard's and Lorde's respective songs from the new Hunger Games soundtrack may enter the Top 40 too. From one former-X Factor act to another, Olly Murs is favourite to overtake One Direction for the top spot with his fourth album Never Been Better. 1D, along with Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran, are still selling well so may remain Top 5, with David Guetta's Listen perhaps completing it. New entries elsewhere in the chart should include Barry Manilow's My Dream Duets, Boyzone's Dublin to Detroit, Coldplay's Ghost Stories Live 2014, Frank Turner's The Third Three Years, Iggy Azalea's Reclassified, Jools Holland & His R&B Orchestra's Sirens of Song, Mary J Blige's The London Sessions, Rick Ross' Hood Billionaire, Sol3 Moi's Sol3 Moi and Susan Boyle's Hope. Re-releases of Beyonce, Clean Bandit, Imelda May and Wilko Johnson & Roger Daltrey's latest albums may also make appearances. In the compilations, Now 89 should easily take #1 whilst soundtrack Shady XV (created greatly by Eminem) should be #2. ======================================================= Please note new changes to the Sunday Chart Predictions thread topic: Tuesday/Thursday - There will be no mids from MW for Tuesday and Thursday, however they may come from other sources - this is not always guaranteed. It entirely passed me by that the Shady Records album would enter in the Compilation Chart!
It will be interesting to see where Take That land and if their pre orders can put them ahead of Band Aid in the Tuesday mid weeks?! Hope Olly can sell well in the albums but I fear like 1D he will reduce sales from his previous release and maybe just break 100k. |

I think Band Aid will still be ahead in the Tuesday mids - I don't think it went to #1 on iTunes at all and I don't think that pre-orders will have been enough to overtake Band Aid's lead. Agreed about Olly, I'd like to think he'd be able to manage over 100k but it could be his lowest opening sales so far (previously debuted with 108k, 148k and 127k). |

Think it'll be largely the same story as last week in relation to the fact there's 11 potential NEs mentioned in that first paragraph and I can see at least 3/4 missing out, even more so with the Now 89 effect aiding the long runners.

I'm not expecting Olly's album to break 100k this time to be honest, I'm even a little worried he might end up stalling behind 1D - that said, this is largely based on the album's relative lack of pre-order success on iTunes and despite that it did go straight to the top end of the chart (only behind compilations) and is very comfortably ahead of 1D who have even fallen behind Ed Sheeran there now, and physical sales are probably less of a concern for Olly so I have no idea how substantiated those worries are. I suppose we'll know by tomorrow. However much it sells I'm sure it will hold up well over the rest of the year as his previous albums have done though - 'Wrapped Up' is certainly doing the business well enough longevity wise so far even if its first week wasn't quite as stellar as previous lead singles.

I think Band Aid 30 will still be ahead of TT as well, mind you its got a full week now, instead of 6 days, but considering its sales dipped rather drastically after 1 day of sales last week. It be interesting to see how much it will decrease this week, I'm still not sure if the track will crack 6 figures though at the end of the week, well we see what Tuesday mids brings us tomorrow.

Take That's 'X-Factor Effect' was kind of derailed by the Band Aid plugging/Bob Geldof thank you on the show on Sunday night. Band Aid seemed to get more benefit than TT looking at the kworb data from Sunday night. It could be close though come the end of the week

I suspect Band Aid will hold on to no1 this week but TT should comfortably make second place with decent sales. In the albums, I would expect Olly Murs to be no1 but don't think he will sell as well as his other albums due to declining album sales and the fact wrapped up doesn't appear to be as popular as some of his other lead singles.

Cruel cruel Gary Barlow is knocking Band Aid off number 1 this week. McBusted at 3, Labrinth (amazingly) at 4. https://twitter.com/MintRoyale/status/537201860940419072 Kiesza at 16 with No Enemiesz but probably will slide, Years & Years at 13 which is very good. |

And yes, Olly Murs is going to have the number 1 album this week by a good margin. (sorry four the double-post, he tweeted just after my last post). This post has been edited by The Hit Parade: Nov 25 2014, 11:15 AM |

Take That have weeks/months of pre-orders though so unless they're miles ahead they probably won't stay on top.

I would be be thrilled, just thrilled if Take That made number 1 but if they are number 1 in the first midweeks i fear it will be short lived. Number 2 is great for them, as mentioned in the Take That forum, achieving top 3 hits, multi platinum selling albums and sell out tours after 25 years in the business is an amazing testament to them.
