LOL what? Adele is OBVIOUSLY getting the #1. 1D have no chance against her.
And people thinking 500k for Adele is "widely optimistic" are seriously underestimating her. In any case, 1D album is out on Nov 14th. Same day as Bieber. The week after Adele's album will be out. Confirmed by Billboard and HDD. |

Just as well Adele's album isn't out the week before OD's, as I'd expect even her 2nd week sales to easily thrash One D! |

Adele easily. Rihanna slaughtered them when they released their debut album at the same time as her sixth album

Personally, I think Adele will struggle to do more than 250k in her first week! Although I wouldn't mind being proved wrong. Adele will pass 100k but not 200k. No album has passed 100k first week sales at all this year

That makes the 500k suggestion even more ridiculous then Mind you, that 208k was in *February*... On a separate issue, I wouldn't be surprised if her album tracks pull off a chart-clogging performance, as Ed Sheeran's did when X was first released. It's a tricky one to predict for Adele. Obviously album sales are in the gutter at the moment, so suggesting she'll get upwards of 200k in her first week seems ludicrous on the face of it.
However, that opening week of 208k wasn't 21's biggest week, and it came at a really quiet time of the year. It did over 250k a while later, and coming off the back of a near 5 million selling album, I'd say there were at least 200 - 300k people waiting to buy this as soon as it's out. Factor in the naturally bigger album sales market in the month before Christmas, and it's maybe not so outrageous to think she'll get more than that. I think even more interesting will be the opening week in the US. There are acts that can still pull several hundred thousand in their first week, so surely she must be looking at upwards 750k. I'm sure it's perfectly possible she'll sail over a million actually. |

Adele, and it'll probably spend more weeks in the top 10 than In The Lonely Hour & x combined.

I can easily bet Adele will exceed 200k copies in the first week.

Just noticed that Now 92 is released on the same day listed for Adele's long-awaited 3rd album.
This could be a closer contest - who do you think will sell more 1st week? Personally, I think Adele will win even *that* contest. |

Given Adele's last album is the 4th biggest selling album of all time, at a time when album sales were rapidly falling, I really don't think that 200k+ is even remotely crazy.
