You were promised a twist, you got one
If you follow my chart every week, you'll notice that in the past, songs have debuted low, climbed, peaked and then fallen fast. In general, a song will reach #1 in its third week in the Top 40, meaning that my #1s are always fairly late as they will have often spent a few weeks below 40 before entering the Top 40. It often means that for me, songs peak in my chart when they've already been and gone for me. And then I can't just drop them out when they reach their peak, they have to stay in for another 2/3 weeks for the sake of having a sane drop. So I'm going to trial something new! Instead of posting charts that are aesthetically pleasing and OCD-friendly, I'm going to actually post a rank of my Top 100 songs in the correct order each week! Now I'm sure any normal person would give this a few weeks to let the chart flow naturally, but I'm impatient so I've completely turned this around in 1 week. This means that songs that were in the Top 10 have dropped out of the top 40, and even last week's #1 has fallen 30 places. This is obviously unfair for songs that were yet to reach their peak and have suffered massive drops thanks to this, however it will in the future give songs more realistic and deserving peaks. It'll also mean that the odd 7 Years might spend a bit longer in the chart as well 1 [14] Avicii - Friend of Mine (ft. Vargas & Lagola) (24-14-1-) 2 [23] Isaiah - Streets of Gold (23-2-) 3 [10] Philip Cecil & Alexander Rybak - Looking My Way (28-15-10-3-) 4 [42] Machine Gun Kelly - Go For Broke (ft. Interesting! I don't quite follow, but it sounds similar to my own charts that track over a month, rather than weekly. (or it might be the opposite actually!)
It's good to find a format that works for you, for sure! A good selection here! Nice to see Gypsy Catch Me if You Can, as well as the large Avicii contingent. Other top picks for me this week would be Madeline Juno, Kooks, BANNERS and Everything Everything :3 |

Hi Pete, finally someone else that goes off songs as quick as I do
Liking that #1 and the entry for AJR and Rivers Cuomo in the top 10, it's a great tune. Shame Desire is falling, but still glad it's top 40 You should give their album a listen, it's fab! Sua Cara is an interesting bop, would love it to cross over but it won't Fab chart as per usual! |

Ooooh, like the new format Pete, looks very fresh! If this is what you like right now when the chart is compiled, what was your last chart based on?
Enjoying the new Avicii and Rita track so I'm glad that seems to be the one that is taking off, it's really catchy and I like the pitched vocals too, would love it to eventually become a top 10/20 hit if it gets more radio support and things. Not sure what to think of More Mess really but I'm still shocked it hasn't taken off at all. I thought the Olly name alone would guarantee it being a minor hit but it seems to have been forgotten about already, it's not one of his best though for me. Pleased for J Hus getting another hit from the album, I didn't think it would happen but it seems quite popular at the moment. I still far prefer Did You See though, that's his biggest bop Lower down, I'm really enjoying the throwback sound of Feel It Still at the moment and Liam Gallagher's return too, think his album could be pretty big! Lovely chart!! |

Hi Pete,
Wow so much movement this week, I don't know where to start! Avicii at #1 but with a surprise choice of song, I hope I can grow to love that one as much as you do! I'd no idea James Arthur had made a single with Machine Gun Kelly. On paper it sounds like a disaster, but I'll try everything once. Tom Zanetti is a great entry this week, and a nice position too. Nice to see offaiah also. I'd like to see something happen with the new Kungs single. And as always, please be sure to check out my chart for this week — Top 40 Countdown by awardinary (W/E 07/09/2017). |

All that this is is that it's an actual ranking of my Top 40, as opposed to lagging it by making songs climb (think of it as if streaming data was removed) Glad you like these songs! Glad you like these songs My previous charts have been downweighted a bit to get chart runs which were somewhat symmetrical, meaning that when a song reached #1 it was already way past me More Mess is definitely a grower I think! I wasn't keen after one listen but loving it now! Thanks for commenting |
