1. Name a movie that has won 'Best Picture' at the Academy Awards since (and including) the year 2000 Slumdog Millionaire (2009) Jahq Argo (2013) Josh A Beautiful Mind (2002) Nelly The Kings Speech (2011) Johnkm Chicago (2003) Tim No Country For Old Men (2008) HausofKubrick The Departed (2007) randomfurlong The Artist (2012) (1) Benzy, Froot The Hurt Locker (2010) (1) Dobbo, Leonardo 12 Years a Slave (2014) (1) Jonjo, Chez Wombat Million Dollar Baby (2005) (1) Ultraviolence, Spinning Adam Crash (2006) (3) Mack, Rooney, Joe, Acidburn Gravity *INCORRECT* (19) Bre The majority of possible answers were given here, with a couple of exceptions being the current 'Best Picture' holder, Birdman, and Lord Of The Rings: Return of the King which may crop up in the next question. We have seven pointless answers, a few picking up a single point and Crash, being named by four people. Just randomly picking from the middle of the time period maybe? Bray makes a good guess, Gravity was of course nominated last year but eventually lost out to 12 Years a Slave. |

Oh yay, starting how I hope to go on. I really should watch more of those as they are clearly good movies, so far I've only watched 12 Years a Slave from the whole list and absolutely loved how the story, the script and way it was filmed that just created such a sad atmosphere while watching it so hopefully the rest of the list is just as good.

2. Name a movie from either the Lord Of The Rings, Twilight or Hunger Games franchises Breaking Dawn: Part 1 (Twilight) Ultraviolence Catching Fire (The Hunger Games) Josh Mockingjay: Part 2 (The Hunger Games) Chez Wombat The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug (LOTR) Joe The Hunger Games Nelly Return of the King (LOTR) randomfurlong The Two Towers (LOTR) (1) Rooney, Tim Breaking Dawn: Part 2 (Twilight) (1) Spinning Adam, Bre Twilight (1) Leonardo, Froot New Moon (Twilight) (2) Jahq, Benzy, Acidburn Fellowship of the Ring (LOTR) (3) Dobbo, Jonjo, Mack, HausofKubrick The Divergent Series: Allegiant Part 1 *INCORRECT* (19) Johnkm Six pointless answers here. 'Part 2' appears more popular than 'Part 1' counterparts, Twilight: Eclipse was snubbed and Joe goes for a loophole that I wish I'd closed off. I decided that The Hobbit movies are technically part of the Lord Of The Rings franchise, if only the phrasing of the question had been series John was wondering whether I'd be accepting movies that have yet to be released, personally I'd be more concerned about naming a movie from a franchise/series that I was asking for |

I had the same idea as Chez but decided to go for my favourite film in the end. Not watched any LOTR/Hobbit or Twilight films before which maybe I should change because they're clearly v popular.

No one appears to have got this one wrong, the three films that she won for were all mentioned with her most recent win for The Iron Lady (where she played former PM Margaret Thatcher) being the most popular answer. |

5. Name a movie that has topped the UK Box Office in 2015 Fifty Shades of Grey Dobbo Taken 3 Acidburn Big Hero 6 randomfurlong Furious 7 (1) Mack, Rooney Avengers: Age of Ultron (1) Chez Wombat, Froot Jurassic World (1) Joe, Leonardo Minions (2) Benzy, Nelly, Johnkm Inside Out (2) Jonjo, Bre, HausofKubrick Home (4) Jahq, Ultraviolence, Josh, Spinning Adam, Tim So animations dominate our top (or is it bottom) 3 here with Home being the highest scorer thus far Our three pointless answers happen to be the first three (out of those named) that topped the box office this year and the three biggest movies of the year so far (unless Minions happens to have already overtaken Furious 7 by now or it may just be on the verge) all score a single point. |
