Also, if you're not already aware of the Now tracklist series, this is another good resource. It goes from Now 38 up to present.

    Andrew's Review
Now That's What I Call Music! 40 also known as Now 40 was the summer offering of 1998. Packed with 8 UK #1 singles, it was certainly full of the best music at the time. Making their first appearance in the series were artists like Billie, Mousse T, The Tamperer, Eagle-Eye Cherry and Fatboy Slim.

A few missing #1 singles from this era which were Aqua – Turn Back Time (though this was included on the next instalment), the debut single from B*Witched – C'Est La Vie, Another Level – Freak Me and finally Jamiroquai – Deeper Underground. Other noteworthy omissions were Busta Rhymes' highest charting UK single Turn It Up/Fire It Up peaking at #2. Gone Til November by Wyclef Jean was also overlooked, as was Brandy & Monica's popular duet The Boy Is Mine (later sampled by 99 Souls). Dario G was overlooked on this occasion was his festival inspired #5 hit Carnaval De Paris. But perhaps the biggest omission was a song which stayed in the UK Top 10 singles chart for 10 weeks, peaking at #2, was Pras Michel feat. ODB & Mya – Ghetto Superstar (That Is What You Are).

Almost half the artists contained within the tracklisting for Now 40 were never seen again, and they were John Travolta & Olivia Newton-John, Karen Ramirez, The Groove Generation, Bus Stop, K-Ci & JoJo, Sparkle, Don Henley, The Mavericks, Baddiel & Skinner & Lightning Seeds, Fat Les, David Morales, Lucid, Perpetual Motion, Barbara Tucker, Imaani, Adam Garcia, Kerri-Ann and Los Umbrellos.

Artwork Rating: 8/10 Extremely Good
It's hard to put into words why this is so good, but perhaps the colour scheme has a lot to do with it. Bright and shiny. The theme is not too dissimilar to the previous volume but from a different angle.

Disc 1 Favourite: Mousse T. vs Hot 'N' Juicy – Horny
This was a very popular song Summer 1998 and I remember hearing it played everywhere as a youngster. Unfortunately the version on this volume was not the single version. A few years later it was mashed up with Bohemian Like You by The Dandy Warhols.

Disc 2 Favourite: Lucid – I Can't Help Myself
Always loved this track, just sounds so flawless and raw. Trance music would never sounds quite like this again.

Overall Rating: 7/10 Very Good
Lots to choose from on here, and I loved so much music from 1998 as it was the first year I actually started paying attention to the charts and I got into loads of new genres. Certainly a highlight from the series for me.

Andrew's Best 5 (as of May 2017)
1. Mousse T. vs Hot 'N' Juicy – Horny
2. Lucid – I Can't Help Myself
3. Bus Stop feat. Carl Douglas – Kung Fu Fighting
4. The Tamperer feat. Maya – Feel It
5. Karen Ramirez – Looking For Love

Andrew's Worst 5 (as of May 2017)
1. Barbara Tucker – Everybody Dance (The Horn Song)
2. Kerri-Ann – Do You Love Me Boy?
3. Eagle-Eye Cherry – Save Tonight
4. Adam Garcia – Night Fever
5. Janet Jackson (feat. BLACKstreet) – I Get Lonely (TNT Remix Edit)

Artwork: looks a bit tacky to me. 5/10.

Disc 1: Feel It - absolute stomper of a track.

Disc 2: I Can't Help Myself - largely forgotten superb 90s tune.

Overall: Not a great edition at all, recall this being one of the weakest when I did the rates too. 5/10.
