SBS have announced that they will host their first ever national selection for Eurovision 2019, to be held on the 9th February at the Gold Coast.

HYPE
Hopefully decent-ish names, Ricki-Lee is as always my top now that Jess has done it, along with The Veronicas and Delta Goodrem out of realistic ones. Depends where they go with this, if it's fair sized local names (I think Delta might be a bit *too* big for Eurovision or busy what with The Voice Aus but then Guy Sebastian did 2015) like Melfest or they go for reality show rejects like us (in which case, REIGAN DERRY or any number of X Factor rejects who didn't do a lot or anything chart wise). |

As long as it was better than the disco covers album or Aus would be doing a UK 2008

Ooooh this is intriguing. I think they might go for a more unknown person after they have had diminishing returns the past two years.

Sounds interesting. Tbh Oz have done a good move here, they’re playing this game too safely. it’s showing in their results. Can’t wait to set alarm on a forthcoming Sunday morning... 😁

The proposed timeline for this has been revealed (I assume the final date is set in stone, and everything is just a sort of draft so far, and kinda vague):
During November and December, artists will be announced. The songs will be matched with artists and released before Christmas plus tickets will go on sale for the show. January will see the host announcements and special guests. February is media promotion, with the jury show on Friday 8th Feb and the broadcast on the 9th. Apparently they're looking to attract big names for this, Ricki-Lee (hardly a big name now given her last single missed top 100, but QUEEN), Delta Goodrem and Peking Duk are on the wishlist! It looks like they're approaching artists and if they want to partake then they are matched with a song and the artist, writers and producers can make the song theirs so it really fits the artist. The latter would be inspired and could be gold for Australia but Delta and Ricki are both top of my wishlist. I'm just imagining Peking Duk production with one of them on vocals, omgggg *.* Melfest is shaking x |

Sheppard confirmed!! A great first name
Kate Miller-Heidke appears to be doing it too, she's brilliant and I'm looking forward to what she might bring. A new duo called Electric Fields also look like they're doing it. |

Sheppard, interesting! I think that'd be a good choice for them as well, something different to the soloists they've sent so far.

All three of those contestants along with Mark Vincent (winner of Australia's Got Talent) have just been confirmed by SBS on Twitter.

Ahhhhh really praying it’s Sheppard. Love Kate too though, looks like it’ll be a high quality semi-final.
