Shame the song is a bit disappointing sad.gif

Hopefully Demi's still decent Hot Songs placing and the prices increases for the songs around her bar Swish Swish will be enough to keep her top 10 despite her own price increase!

Wouldn't be surprised to see Instruction challenge for top 10 again, will probably just miss out though.

Yeah, just depends how much of a push it gets I guess. One one hand it could be as mediocre as Still Got Time and debut low top 20, but on the other hand it could get an instant push and be as accessible as The Greatest and debut top 5.

I think Sam Smith will take the no.1, making Taylor a one week one, as he will be much bigger.

I am not sure how well Kelly Rowland will do - depends of it is rnb or pop.

Posted by: Bjork 2nd September 2017, 06:26 AM

I actually think it all depends on if Sam Smith gets added as song #1 on the Hot Hits playlist on Spotify + all immaginable playlists like Taylor did... if so, he will get the #1, but otherwise I don't see it... with a normal Spotify release like Pink (she was on no playlists at all in the beginning), cannot see the masses streaming Sam Smith without being pushed to it...

Posted by: MoistSummerFruit 2nd September 2017, 06:54 AM

I guess that depends on how much the payola for Taylor was worth.

there is no f***ing justice in the world. Pop music is f***ing dead. Lol. Chill, if a song is relevant enough and good enough then it'll be a hit - P!nk's latest isn't particularly Spotify friendly but it's become a Spotify hit, and total randomers that nobody has heard of have had hits recently (like James Hype for example, nobody had a clue who he was this time last month but now he has a top 10 smash). It's really not THAT unfair, it's always been how it is - if the labels can afford big bucks promotion, then they'll pay for it.

"Na na na na na wanna let my hair down" Queen of songwriting x

Ngl Taylor has written a whole album by herself and quite often writes about feelings, love etc. so you can't say she isn't a passionate songwriter, find a better example laugh.gif I love Hair Down but proper pure pop like tht is not going to smash in 2016, especially when it sounds a bit demoy. And I don't think she did it to get a hit, she's releasing what she wants regardless and best of luck to her tbh.

Posted by: missingyou 2nd September 2017, 11:53 AM

These songs didn't make number one.. despite tirelessly being promoted to the point at one point when two band members were sick.

Yet this did. Not promoted at all (i.e. performed on tv, promoted around the country etc)

Im actually having sleepless nights worried about Cheryl for when she comes back.

I guess Higher is top 200 on iTunes, 7 years after release. Hope that nasty girl Taylor can say the same. Kim was right she is nasty snake.

Posted by: Regina 2nd September 2017, 11:54 AM

Jesus, please tell me you're kidding?

Posted by: Liаm 2nd September 2017, 11:56 AM

You can promote all you want, you can't force people to like the songs laugh.gif They still had numerous top 10s and a #1. Their success as aband also doesn't guarantee Mollie smashing 3 years after they went on a hiatus they'll never come back from.

Also Taylor has two million sellers so I think she's just fine with being relevant 7 years later... In fact she's just got her first UK #1 11 years into her career,. There is no need to tear down every act who is dong better than Mollie laugh.gif

Posted by: danG 2nd September 2017, 11:58 AM

I'm the One was a number one single mostly due to Justin Bieber who does self promo / publicity stunts all the time, I would say he has a busier work schedule than The Sats ever did.

Hode Sats songs deserved no.1, but the pop game is alll about hype - look at Little Mix. Their music is atrocious but they do so much better due to the manufactured Cowell machine. I doubt anyyy of the big songs about would do really well by an anoymous singer, but that's the game - gotta have a hype persona for the mahine and sheeple.

there is no f***ing justice in the world. Pop music is f***ing dead. Taylor can release fart, so could JB and it would be #1 for seven months, its a f***ing piss take then you have passionate songwriters and performers like Mollie who make so much more effort to promote and they don't get a look in. f*** YOU SPOTIFY.

Omg what is this mess laugh.gif
Go outside for a moment

Posted by: mdh 2nd September 2017, 12:08 PM

So you're totally against artists promoting themselves on Spotify, yet you think that just because The Saturdays promoted their music loads, that instantly equals a #1?? It doesn't work like that, maybe the public just didn't like the songs enough for them to go to #1??

Posted by: T Boy 2nd September 2017, 12:12 PM

The Saturdays rarely had songs that exceeded average (Up and Ego were pretty good) and they had such a reek of desperation. But I don't know why it's a big deal, they did get a no.1 and this is Taylor's first which she's had to wait 4 more years for.

Posted by: Cameron 2nd September 2017, 12:24 PM

The Saturdays released perfect pop for their era. It was criminal that they didn't get a #1 till 2013 but it was different days back then. Remember singles were released to radio about 2 months before release and had time to gain momentum. Nowadays they rely heavily on spotify to help get them up the iTunes and singles charts

Very true.

I agree

Posted by: JosephStyles 2nd September 2017, 12:55 PM

Honestly, you can promote all you want, but if your song doesn't catch on in a major way, there's nothing more you can do. The Sats did what they did pretty well, but if we're comparing to I'm the One, well, they're two hugely different cases, and that's simply a way more popular song than even What About Us.

Plus let's not forget that not everything Justin releases is an instant #1 - Despacito debuted in the top 70 laugh.gif while 2U and Friends haven't made #1 and the latter isn't likely to any time soon either.

Exactly, it's obviously nice when your faves do well (I've loved seeing Dua and Taylor get their first #1s for example and seeing Pink doing well) but if they've given me a song I enjoy it's not going to hinder me loving it if it peaks at #1 or #111 laugh.gif There are so many songs I hear from BJSC, other charts, blogs, whatever, that won't even touch the chart but it's not gonna make me lose any sleeep laugh.gif

Lol not only is the Mollie song atrocious but she's not in any way relevant? An over 30 woman from a girl group who fizzled out due to lack of interest is not exactly a chart recepie for success...

Additional lol at the drive by attack on Little Mix, you can't help it if talent sometimes wins. Hardly any Syco artists do well anymore but Little Mix's talent and work ethic is hugely superior to The Saturdays who arguebaly released superior bops, their must was pop perfection - but they went on holiday every 5 minutes, and couldn't perform themselves out of a plastic bag.

Omg, THIS!!

Blandschinger was obviously a huge cow from her days being the ONLY PD that sung in her vanity project as she was too bland for a solo career.

Cheryl, or sometimes known as Skelator, is much better and much more northern.

Probably nothing, as it's so old now, and already a big hit, but a new 2017 Ed/Taylor duet would be a rather more mouthwatering prospect, now they're both clearly at the peak of their powers. I can't see either having as big an era next time out by any stretch.

Really? I think as long as Ed leaves enough of a gap until his next album, people will be desperate for new music from him and I can see him having just as big an era again as this one.

That fits the song though, it's like "don't tell me how to be a woman when you haven't lived it" and woman do get told that it must be that time of the month if they are angry or upset, as if to trivialise it by just being like "oh don't worry she's just a hysterical woman"

Been away for the past 24 hours and I find myself looking at Megan McKenna at #1 blink.gif I know she is from Essex and Ex on the Beach, but I never expected her to be hogging the #1 spot on iTunes, never saw that coming in a million years. laugh.gif

Posted by: Bjork 6th September 2017, 03:17 PM

wow the top 6 is all solo females, and there's 10 solo females in the top 15, +the female singer in More than Just Friends and Little Mix with CNCO!!!

Flabbergasted to see Megan doing so well on iTunes! I know of her due to her stint on Celebrity Big Brother and kept seeing an accompanying show for her country music career advertised on TV. Despite big social media presence and the accompanying 'There's Something About Megan' show, I really wouldn't have expected country songs to be doing so well in the UK, even with low sales! Feels like Steps being #1 on iTunes all over again laugh.gif

Must admit just listened to both Megan tracks and was pleasantly suprised (ok she no Carrie underwood who could probably released HHS herself) but for a reality star pretty decent HHS is the stronger of the 2 so I understand why that was pushed more as the single and doing better

Megan McKenna is an Essex girl who appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2016 and had several meltdowns whilst she was in the Big Brother house. Now she is a country music singer.

Think you're all massively underpredicting ZAYN - the sales threshold is so low right now and the song's bound to get instant Spotify support, plus it sounds like a huge hit.
